Würde mich mal interessieren, ob der Macher dieses Videos selber Diest geleistet hat und in welcher Funktion.
Mir als Infanterist (Füsilier) erscheint dieses Video teilweise in einem krassen Widerspruch zu dem, was ich während meiner bisherigen Dienstzeit erlebt habe. Wörter wie Ehre und Loyalität klingen zwar mega lässig, sind aber schlichtweg in der schweizer Armee nicht aufzufinden. Die Kameradschaft ist das einzig Wahre in diesem unorganisierten Verein, den Rest sucht man vergeblich.
Mein Freund, als ein Amerikaner, des eine große Interessant für Militär und schweize Kultur hab, wünsch ich die Beste für Sie und Ihr Land. =) Ich habe Ihr Video wirklich interessant und inspiriert gefunden!

@Empreur500 Ich wurde als Infanterist ausgehoben, damals noch Füsilier. Meine Gesundheit reichte auch nicht. Ich wurde untauglich in den ersten 2 Wochen. Ich wurde zum ZS umgeteilt. Bevor ich in den ZS ging, schrieb ich ein Gesucht, ich wolle zurück in die Rekrutenschule! Ich will Militär machen!
3 Tage nach dem ich den ZS Grundkurs absolvierte, wurde ich für Tauglich für den Militärdienst erklärt. Ich werde Betriebssoldat in Fribourg. Putzen und nicht unbedingt viel Action - Ja,aber

Wenn du ins Militär willst, gehe! Es gibt immer eine funktion die du machen kannst! Ausser du bist körperlich behindert, aber dann ist es etwas anderes.

It is a decay of national pride. As evidenced by when Roman legions went from consripts raised by the nation in times of war to a fully profesional force, that became political and then led to the demise of the Empire. A "citizen soldier" model keeps some sort of unity amongst the people and binds it as glue. I am not swiss, but that is my take on things. Cheers to switzerland :)
Just wondering... Switzerland has four official language. So how the Swiss Army communicate to each other, for example German-speaking Sergeant commanding French-speaking Private.
@yezpa10 During the service, you are allowed not to obey an order that isn't in your language, but the main leaders of the army starting with sergeants have to know how to speak german.
@737tintin not entirly true, you have to obey orders that you understand even if they are not in your language. For sergents it is not obligatory to speek german although highly recommended. But any NCO or CO will know how to give combat orders in French and German. As for italian speakers they understand french or german.
What is not generally known is that the Swiss Army is the fastest (in Europe) to mobilize the greatest number of men. What is also unknown is that the State of Israel was modeled on Switzerland when he formed his army. I did my Military schools in the Train (horse transport in the mountains) and it will remain one of my best training for adult life.

OK -I wont post any bad comments , but, what a small country switzerland is? whats with all the troop manueuvers and games. its kind of a waste of time when someone could just drop a bomb on your small country killing most of the people easily? forget the war games and get with the program...

All the technology and planes in the world still cant beat a small group of determined individuals. Be it a small country like switzerland or a radicalized paramilitary group who hides within the population.

@NKhellbeast la question n'est pas de savoir si tu y as ta place ou pas. Une femme n'a pas sa place dans une compagnie de combat. Sans parler des soucis logistiques que cela implique (douches et dortoirs séparés). Toutes les femmes que j'ai cotoyé a l'armée en tant que sergent étaient des cassos, officières comme soldates

It is a decay of national pride.
