the reason pots illegal is based on the fact it can be used as a fuel source, makes people "lazy" and aware of the bs going around them. it can be home grown so no tax there.. and used as clothing. the governement would lose to much money therefore they won't allow it to become legal ever unless we do something. If marijuana gets legalized, the government will do the same as they do with cigarettes. The feds and states will tax the hell out of it, the FDA will regulate it, you will have to be a certain age to buy it, etc. Don't kid yourselves. The gov't could give two shits about what it does or doesn't do to you; they need money, and if legalizing the stuff gets it for them, then they'll do it. But don't think you can light up anywhere, either. The anti-smoking nazi's will see to that.

No, Marijuana WILL NOT bring in tax revenue at all. If marijuana is legalized, it will be taxed greatly, and oversight over people who grow their own marijuana will dissipate, causing then to grow freely, and sell it untaxed, but still selling it for more money.
