  • this page is full of dumbasses, zabiela could do it the old fashioned way if he wanted

  • @djkrugger that just f..kd up every negative prick that doesn't no whta top dj is.cause of the crowd were listening to him!!!!!!

  • @Darren9707 well theres the issue with your statement. Your talking about different kinds of DJing. Specifically Qbert, Atrack and djs of the like are Turntablists. James Zebelia is an electronic dance music DJ. Theres not supposed to be a comparison there. Even watch the traktor vid with DJ Craze, even turntablists are doin it different now. Times change, u either understand that or get left behind. And this "new" gear dosent make things easier and actually opens up new opportunities.

  • Damm, this is an example of how teechnology has taken away from an art form. I'm not saying he"s not a dj, but he's not a turntabilist. The underground hip hop dj's of hip hop in the 90's are the real deal.executioners, mix master mike q-bert.ect. Check out the dmc's of the 90's if u wanna see the best. Time brings change, but this shit is to electronic and makes things much easier then two turn tables and a mixer? That's the trruth, plain and simple!

  • @djkrugger dint know wot he was on about , haha hes like one of the biggest djs in the world now , wot a muppet you are haha

  • lol the cheat

  • hardest way to scratch ever discovered.

  • hello, my name is chicken monkey! XD

  • 2:42 haha

  • nice one dude, keep your hands were i can see them :)

  • damn ur good lol u know the tools very well

  • Sickk

  • llove it

  • how do you get money to all that :D

  • holy craP!! ur too good. i envy you. bastard lol

  • james zabiela...legend...met him at colourfest ireland in carrickmacross, half way through his set i asked him for the flyer on the wall behind the decks,he said come back when his set was finished, sure enough when he finished i went up,he pulled it off the wall and gave it to me...this thing was huge, about 9 ft long, and 5 wide...

  • fuck ns7,these little 45 platters look like toys compare 2 technics.

  • i wouldnt like to be this jog!kkk

  • i dont think james zabiela is going to respond but they;'re about $1799 US each

  • hahaha.

  • do you have to use cd's with this table or can you run mp3's from another program, say ableton, on it?

  • damn dog ur nice as shit but how much did dem turntables cost?????? plz respond

  • Pioneer CDJ-1000, look it up. I believe they're around $1200 each

  • quick question, if a specific cdj does not have the scratch mode, will it still make that reverse sound when turning the jog wheel anti-clockwise will the track is playing

  • no, the jog wheel in normal mode does pitch control, which doesnt make that sound

  • WHAAA!!!!?

omg i want to learn SO SO BAD!!

  • PreziosO RULEz !!!

  • you? We know that :D

  • Quality stuff.

I saw Eddie Halliwell using this scratching technique in a live set. Gets a crowd goin' every time!

You can also do it without the efx. i have tried it on the DJM 600. the hardest part is keeping the scratch sample in time with the beat!

  • he use to use vinyl mate but he found it hard to carry around with him every where so he turned to cds he still buys vinyl but copys them to cd!i changed from vinyl cos some clubs and bars only have cd decks, its just the way things are tho.i dont have room for vinyl either, i have mine stored all over.tho i still love vinyl its always gonna be the best

  • shut the fuck up! u can do way more stuff with cds ... more efficiently. if ur stuck in the past and cant afford cdjs then go fuk urself sumwer else. u cant do any of those on vinyl...n if u can ul be sweating to do it while messing up on loads of other shit n the crowd will boo u. advance or leave us alone

  • ayemen

  • thats not what your mum said...

  • very talented and he seems really down to earth as well!

  • i want two :(

  • how much for a lesson lol?

  • F**king amazingly talented , freak of nature...Rave Lizard rules!!! haha

  • Shut up ya stupid fuckin prick. The trick might look easy but alot of people had been asking for ages how do do it! So the guy is just showing how to do it. He's even showing you how easy it is to do.... But I take it your the master of the turntables. The Mixmaster genius who could show everyone of us how to do it properly. Why don't put up a video showing us how the underground crew do it!! They surely must be something..... Bet they couldn't do half the stuff this guy does.

  • Dude, have you been to see James Zebiela before? He's really good man.

  • wow nice you really inspire my

  • aahahah

  • what mixer is he using there?

  • Probably the Pioneer DJM800

  • thats the djm 600..u can see the master volume is a fader..

  • SOUNDS GOOD. SHAME HE'S A TWAT!

  • how is he a twat man!?

  • now try it with a record

  • Meh.Piss my money away or make class tracks?

    Nah. You keep your records.

Plus it's the same effect if you've got vinyl with that type of loop. We used to use battle records for that. Just noise on wax. The plus for the CDJ is that you can find a loop like that pretty much anywhere. Don't have to spend $10 a pop on noise.

  • yes, it's true, but you can do the same stuff with a cdj, You can even use more effects on it I think, it's indeed cheaper, but I wouldn't want to scratch with cd's, It just kinda loses it's charm :) plus there are a fair amount of scratches not possible with the cdj, like when u use friction to the record to make that special kind of noise.

  • callateeeeeeeee!!!!! ahi hay manoooooo

  • con ese peazo ekipo tbien hago yo maravillas!

  • como cuato vale todo junto esque quiero uno como cuato en dolares? si puedes comtestarme gracias

  • ggeenniiuuss

  • does anyone know where i could download some classic sounds to scratch on like the sounds in this demo

  • beatport.c0m or beatsource.c0m look under dj tools

  • zabiela is sikkkk

  • its not about if you play on vinyl or cdjs, its about the groove, any real fucker would know that

  • i know about the groove but i am not a fucker

  • Most cdj djs started on TECHNICS, you can do more with the cdjs. IT IS THE FUTURE.

  • Saw him and Nic (One plus One) at global. James was fucking lovingit. The crowd was loving it. Amazing

  • James rule's

  • Holy shit! the best

  • don't understand why people are knocking him?? he's got skills, what do you think he learnt to scratch on? and what do you see his cdjs are sitting on top of? yes, that would be technics.

  • hahaha fiar enuf hes no scratch dj buh what a nerd! i mean that bit wen u got propa into it hahaha due, that was class!!!hahahaahaha made my day!

  • i dont see u guys being endorsed by pioneer.

  • its not real scratching, but to be honest i'd rather have all that equipment to fuck about with than just turntables and vinyl, but i agree there is more skill involved in vinyl scratching

  • u dont knopw anything mate

u can still scratch with cdj as vinyl hes just using a trans fx to cut it.

  • you can call me what you want but that isnt scratching!!!

  • Oki.. Just try to Slap a Real

    Turntable with a Vinyl..

    its a whole diffrent thing..

u must be a "gendleman" to scratch..

    :D

and its called -Flare not Classic

    HipHop Sound..

    :D

  • the Flare is a type of scratch, not a sound

  • theres no talent to cd scratching, because when he has the loop on the cd, doesnt move anywhere, where then a record u have to bring it back. so basically hes pressing butttons.

  • Its called moving with time... try it sometime!

  • whats the effects rig hes using? the thing he pulls the jet effect off with?

  • WOW!

  • make me yours

    =P~

  • aint that just a fancy/expensive way to cheat? do it the anolog way, its more impressive.

  • Yes and no. This vid was made when CDJ's were fairly new so loads of people wondering both what the fuss was about and what can be done with them. Zabiela isn't a turntablist like Q Bert etc and what is shown is a very small part of his set. I guess he's using breaks and 'scratching' here because he's only got a couple of minutes to show a few tricks and these are the most palatable. Go see him do a lengthy, peak time DJ set and be properly amazed.

  • its called improvising, think about it, you have something that can automatically do some of the things you do on analog, now u can add more shit onto it, delay, flanger, pitch, or whatever the hell else, sorry to all you hardcore vinyl jockeys but you all need to move on

  • i must admit the cdjs r good. i enjoy just the loop effects and such.

  • And hes gorgeous, and he tastes like strawberries (=9

  • You are all forgetting he would'nt show us how to do all the cool stuff otherwise he wouldn't have a job would he? also he gets given all the pioneer hence why he does all thier adverts so he is bound to show us, so what, how many famous musicians started off with recorders at school lol , >.< James is god I have followed him for years

  • i got cdj 1000,s mk3,s and records still rip cds my scratchin aint shit on cds compaired to vinyle effects on the scratch is shit get a djm 800 to go with them cdj,s the skill ov scratching is a skill that dont need no effects when u are good enough

  • He's doing something different to what the DMC guys do: live looping, feedback loops; it's a different vocabulary of techniques from a different kind of equipment (not surprisingly). He's not scratching like a DMC-winner, but he's doing things the DMC-winners can't do too, just because it's a different set of skills. I think the argument about his (lack of) classical scratching skill is a false argument.

  • "u guys that say that cdjing takes no talent"

Well, it takes a basic sense of rhythm and a good knowledge of the euipment. I would call it a great talent. Anyone who owns the equipment can come up with this stuff. I've been DJing for 15 years by the way.

  • why does he loop the CHAAAA sound? Any scratch DJ knows it's important to have the beginnin of the noise present to do things like flares, chirps, clover tears, orbits etc. This guy aint no scratchmaster. He's just another house style DJ. Enter the DMC then James

  • You're correct he is a house DJ, he's not trying to be a turntablist. This video was just a 10 minute bonus at the end off his Renassiance Alive CD. Saying "Enter the DMC" is like saying Cut Chemist has no skills because he can't rock the main room at Space for 4 hours. Both have their time and place.

  • james is a genius exelent for after

  • nice video, iv uploaded some videos that i think you might like check out my latest... /watch?v=BHdi4WhGzAE

  • you are right mate...the facts reveal the truth...zabiela leads the next dj generation ...eventhough I would like to see him working with a pair of turntables...just like the old days...

  • I'm all for fx, and using whatever equipment you want, but he has just developed techniques to make scratching as easy as possible! reckon anyone could learn to do that in 5 mins.

  • u guys that say that cdjing takes no talent, why dont you try first, morons. Just cuz Zabiela is good and you guys aren't there is no need to be jealous.

  • the cd thing is kool... i would try it. but i'm old sckool...

  • goes against everything dj'ing is about...

  • how? djing is about entertaining people! it doesnt matter how you do it... if people are entertained. your doing it right!

  • exactly! :)

  • Scratch techniques? Uhmm hey buddy, those are CDJ rigs... no talent involved at all. Pick up a vinyl and THEN try to scratch. Oh it's not so damn easy is it?

  • i have used both and i believe CDJ's are more difficult. if Zabiela wasn't talented i don't think he would be a resident dj in Ibiza.

  • no man it is much eaier to control a CDJ than records when it comes to scratching.

to do thoses scraches he's doing on a record you would need a certain level of skill and coordination while on CDJ it is much easier. Kind of like having pick that does the guitar solos for you.

  • cdj ,s dont act exsactly the same as vynle at all i know ive got both 1210,s and mk3 cdj,1000,s and u cant do sertan things on cdj,s there spot on but the feel ov vynle stayin still with ya hand on it whilst plater is still movin and a slipmat so what u tryin to tell me

  • iv u scratch on cdjs the scratch with vynle its so much lighter easyer and less work with cd,s more effort i put bit ov plastic bag onder my slipmatt and the glide and slide like a mother fucker smooth slippy and sweet

  • when you've finished practising scratching, try working on your grammer and your punctuation so we can read what you're writing. dick.

  • AWSOME!!! :D

  • first he's not famous and if he is its in one of those country where music doesn't count second electronica music is stupid and third hes got his equipment amist a pile of junk if he is so famous then he cant aford a better place?

  • He's from the UK. Music from here doesn't count, does it? The UK and USA lead the whole world you ignorant fool.

  • You call yourself a DJ king and you dont know who James Zabeila is? You should pity yourself fool. He's hella famous, anyone with half a mind for electrnoica knows that. It's not stupid, it's a damn site more intelligent that some filthscum character singing about his bitches and drugs.

  • You sir are a cock!!

  • Ha Djking u cock cant believe u sed if he is famous he's from one of those countries where music doesnt count..as someone sed b4 the UK leads the way in dance music..twat..i'd like to see u try that stuff

  • Yeah, scratching is difficult, but he's just using effects. He's using an effect box to mimic the crossfader action. He's using the transform effect. Not impressive

  • Zabiela just makes it look easy. Using effects in combination with scratching cd's is the reason he's become famous.

  • exactly!

  • nice one, lets see more of these please...

  • wierd!!

  • yeah....and scratching is so much harder than it looks.
