Chevrolet is not going to redesign the Impala at all, however they are giving it entire new drive train that give's you six gears & pumps out 320 HorsePower from a new engine!   • actually, i was just racing a mustang yesterday in my 01 chevy impala LS (mustang was an 08 or 09) and i owned the crap outta his car, got me up to 120 easily...i did rebuild the engine and made small modifications but nothing that would seriously bosst me

    And second, the 2010 Impala is only rated for 29 mpg, and thats highway. It gets 18 mpg in the city, which is pretty damn shitty. Where's your 4 speed now?

  • Does this come with a compass and temperature gauge on the dash?

  • The compass is above the ambient temperature readout. (86°F) In this video it says "CAL", meaning it was in calibration mode for some reason. The engine temp gauge is on the far right side of the screen. Next to that is the fuel gauge which is off-camera.

  • My father has a 2004 TL auto and I have drove it before. Back in 05 I had it for a couple days and raced some cars with it. I schooled a scion tc that had cai and custom exhaust. I also took a 2004 civic si. Then I raced my friends 2004 regal gs. All it has is a cai and a performance muffler. I thought for sure that I would win. At around 80mph the regal was a full car length ahead of me.

  • The regal also had 18 inch wheels and a lot of wheel spin off the line. I mean The wheels spinned through most of 1st gear. The acura actually pulled ahead until around 50 ish. I remember this race well, because I only raced against 5 or 6 cars with the TL. This is the only car that I lost to.

  • I had the same car, it did respond better. I timed it, it was about 8.5 seconds (this one is about a second slower). It's great all the way to 50 then it shifts and the rpm drops, that's where it loses time.

    But off the line with its torquey engine combined with the low weight (only 3400lbs for a full size sedan) the car accelerates very well.

    Comfy ride, good MPG...good times. Wish my Z28 could be as practical as that clean-on-the-outside-ice-cream­-pain-job-pimpala. :P

  • It does. A lot less. At least the base does, dunno which options you had on your LS. Cause the heated seats are pretty heavy, and so is the 3.8 engine. It's more reliable though, 20hp more power as well.

  • It means exactly what it says. Chevy limits the car to 107 MPH. At 107, the computer says "no more" and the car won't accelerate anymore.

  • @pyromonster99 Yeah that is why the Impala is reted at 30+ MPG on the highway, it's the only car in it's class with a V6 four speed automatic to have this fuel economy, other V6's have do have it, but they have to use a 5 or 6 speed automatic, and most 5 or 6 speed autos are failur prone.

  • I used a digital timer and clocked the 0-60 time in the high 8-second range. That's rather disappointing to see. But, I can understand that since the gears are so long. It's still faster than my '92 Lumina, '89 Reatta, and '07 Kia Sportage though (god, they are the slowest cars I've ever driven!). My Lumina would hold 1st until about 45, then hold 2nd until 80. After that, 3rd gear just kept taking it until it hit its top speed (around 110ish).

  • That's not true, I used to have a 2000 Impala 3.4. It was quick, but it couldn't do 0-60 in 6 seconds. The new style SS takes 5.6 seconds to get to 60 and that's a V8.

  • ill post a video. the only difference is a K&N air filter and 91 octane. if you cant accelerate a car the right way you wont get the proper take off. too much gas not enough air=sluggish take off. right amount of gas and air=boost to 2nd. after that u can floor it. were talking about a stand still. its easier to get more take off when the car is already in motion.

  • More like 7.9 seconds. I have one, the camera is at a bad angle and it makes it look like the speedo is reading lower than it actually is. Mine shifts out of first right at 60mph.
