This is to over rich Air to Fuel ratios, essentially the engine isn't tuned properly, it makes big power but they are still tuning it, rich is safe while lean is dangerious for the engine which explains the flamethrower.

Lets not pretend you actually know what you just said.

All high power cars will do this when you suddenly go from full throttle to little to no throttle. The injectors are ramming as much fuel into the engine as possible when suddenly it isn't needed. So it goes through the system and ends up combusting in the exhaust system instead of the cylinders. Racing cars (F1, WRC, Le Mans, etc) do this along with most exotics. Nothing to do with tuning, it's physics.

Its a thing they do because it looks cool on pictures. There is really no other reason for that flame. It basically happens because the movement of the engine keeps sucking fuel in even when the electronics arent firing the cylinders... So when you get back on the gas, you get cool noises and flames shooting out. In the video here it basically self-ignites due to the heat.
