Its just different for every person. Idk why people have to argue about the silliest things. Anyhow, getting an episiotomy isnt a big deal. I had one with my 1st labor and i couldnt feel it when the doctor cut me because i had an epidural, when the feeling started coming back of course the whole area down there is painful but it settles down over the next few days especially if u keep urself clean n take care. Not a big deal the pain is temporary. 29 weeks with my 2nd baby n i cant wait for del
This is a incorrect video. We took natural birthing classes and had a midwife home birth. I had a, no joke, 10 1/2 lb baby with little to no tearing at all (no stitches). My midwife used olive oil and did a perineal massage while I was in labor to help stretch me out. As far as I understood from her cutting is the worst thing you can do ANY time. It makes it weaker for a bigger tear and starts you out with a first degree tear to begin with!!!!! Tearing doesn't have to be the norm!!!
Of course not every delivery has tearing. I had no tearing at all with both of my babies and I know plenty of women who have also experienced no tearing.
@terpiplers - I can't honestly believe you are a registered midwife. You say you are, yet you are basically promoting episiotomies. It is not the first route to go to prevent a tear, there are many other natural methods to use before even giving birth that will help (like stated in this video)!! It should be the last resort!!
Is it necessary to stitch a first degree perineal tear? I know a woman that healed fine with a first degree tear and I was quite surprised. Have you ever experienced this before?
perineal lacerations or tearing during child birth is normal, how ever it can be prevented by an episiotomy or an incision in the perineum almost all deliveries for the first time will definitely have a tear, depending on the size of the baby and the rigidity of the perineum , mothers delivering babies for more than 3 usually wont have tears but it can be a case to case basis,
