Just watched your vid tonight (or this morning 4am here) and I must say that made me love my RX8 even more. On a small track with few straight a ways the RX8 dominates. What kinds of tires where you running? I had the P Zero Nero's on mine and yes they were good tires I just don't feel they are as good as the price tag is for them. ( I don't care about price just if I pay for exceptional tires I want just that not good tires). Were you running the stock 18 rims?
@311ZeroCool Hey thanks for the comment! I am not sure if I had already changed the tires back when the vid was taken or not, so it was either the stock tires or Hankook K104... And yes, stock 18".... I had a set of 17" for the winter tires :)
Do you have a metal battery tie down? At autocross the inspectors give me a lot of shit about the flimsy plastic stock box because the battery slides around, but I can't find a metal tie down on the internet anywhere. Please help me so I can race
I never had a problem with the battery sliding, and I've never heard of such metal tie down. My car has been inspected almost everytime I went to a track and I never ever had a comment about this.... Sorry I can't help...
Man you should have easily been smoking that ls through the corners, I dont know this track but just from the fact that you weren't right on his ass coming out of those corners tells me your lines were bad. I know you cant pass in those bends but you were still to slow through the corners.
You are definitely right, but because I couldn't pass him, I just wasn't pushing until the time came. And my lines were pretty good, just done slowly :)
It depends what you plan to do with it, if its for drag racing, then get an American car. If you want handling in curves, then the 8 is GREAT! I loved this car. It does need lots of attention but its worth it.
Well, she actually ran into the biggest pothole I ever saw at a good speed. It was by night and the pothole wasnt visible. Truth is it could have happened to anyone...
I moved out of the country and did not buy a car yet. I think I will get myself a motorbike for now, but I am planning to get myself a track day on an Elise :D

@bigmanathome24 It was mounted to the rear window using a suction cup car mount. Just search on ebay for car camera mount ;)

Yes it is. Only the tires and brakes aren't stock ;)
simobk 2 years ago
do all 8's perform the same from 04-08?
maheshcx 2 years ago
Yes they do for the manual version. The auto version sucks by the way so avoid at all price!
simobk 2 years ago
same for most cars
maheshcx 2 years ago
Yah but its even worse for the 8. The manual was 238HP and the auto 192HP if I remember well... :)
simobk 2 years ago
@simobk that's prolly cause they focused more torque lower in the power band to make up for the longer gears.

RotaryD19 2 years ago
Hi RotaryD19... Yes it is an IS300 in front of me (and then in back :P)
And I would have kept it if I could, but as explained in other comments, I moved overseas to France, so I couldnt really keep it... :(
simobk 2 years ago
ah i see, well i guess the main thing is getting a car that suits your needs. Hope France is nice, and the same with your other project.

Mastamarek 3 years ago
Well, she actually ran into the biggest pothole I ever saw at a good speed. It was by night and the pothole wasnt visible. Truth is it could have happened to anyone...
Result :
- 4 blown tires
- 2 destroyed mags
- Broken rear suspension
- Broken steering column
I guess that's having no luck... :(

As explained in the description, the car was stock except for the tires (Hancook K104).
I installed drilled/slotted discs and ceramic pads after.
I sold the car last week, and the new owner crashed it 2mn after buying it :(
