Wrong. James did never scream, he sang high pitched, due to two reasons; 1, he was young, therefor his voice was not as deep, 2: he had never really learned to sing, therefor he wailed a bit instead. During the recording of "so what" which only appears on the black album in some countries, he did break his voice, which made him go to a singing teacher, who taught him a few tricks and gave him a tape. That mixed with him getting older, gave him his current voice. And he DOES NOT sound pop!
