I loved this video series, it is very well done. However, what is still confusing to me is why is there still such a huge controversy between evolution and creationism? There is an abundance of evidence for evolution, and damning evidence against 'intelligent design'.

A few million years of seperation in which their ancestor's survival didn't depend so heavily upon their capacity to communicate and reason as ours did. Ours developed; theirs stayed pretty much unchanged.

Intelligence is just one attribute of a creature which dictates its survival. Chimpanzees for example need an amount of intelligence - but their environment isn't pressuring them to evolve as quickly as our ancestors had to to adapt.

It isn't a very difficult concept to grasp. In the 6 million or so years since our common ancestor with the Chimpanzee, our DNA has only varied by about 2%.

Do you understand that Humans are also Animals? Do you know what an Animal is?

Evolution is dictated by survival vurses the environment. If the environment changes - so do the life forms.

You want to claim some kind of immutability exists for humans - but i can prove this isn't so. You yourself possess about 130 mutations in your DNA not found in either of your parents. As do all human offspring. This modification is the backbone of Evolution - over millions of years this produces change along with gene shuffling.

The devices/technologies you mention arn't alive and are therefore not subject to evolution by natural selection.

Only evolution can produce creatures such as ourselves because only evolution would produce such a poor design as our DNA contains. Any creator wouldn't build into his design such obvious and fatal flaws which are what is responcible for so many of our illnesses.

Well how exactly do you explain that practically 100% of the world biologists accept Evolutionery Theory, and 90% of all world scientists?

They're not all Atheists; infact plenty of them are Christians; Jews, Muslims, Hindus - people of all faiths. Personally i find the evidence from Genetics to be irrefutable - and the fact that any fossils of extinct prior lifeforms can be found is sufficent evidence from that field of study for me.

Yeah - this programme bent over backwards to be inclusive to the religious (Ken Miller got lots of air time - but I liked his observations on evolution).

It's clearly aimed at an American audience.

I stumbled on this by chance - "Darwin's Dangerous Idea" is a doc by Andrew Marr currently airing on the BBC - he's a lot less coy about religion than in this film. (Well he follows Dawkins and Attenborough - both made vids about Darwin this year and made no secret about their atheism)

1. You could not creat new breeds of dogs through selective mating. The pups would always be 1 dog or the other, their genes could not mix.

2. All men would look exactly like Adam, and all women would look exactly like Eve. Again, our genes couldn't mix to form the blends of humans we all know to be true.

3. We would still have every species that ever existed still living today if everything was created at the same time by a perfect god, but fossils say no.

If Intellegent Design was science, you could create a hypothesis that could be testable either in a labatory or by looking at fossil records and genitics with additional hypothesis on what you should likely see. Can you create these hypothesis with Evolutionary Theory? Yes. Intellegent Design can't even begin to create a testable hypothesis. ID is simply not science... it just isn't.
