I have lived in chattanooga for 3 years and havent got to go yet but it looks cool as hell. I just hope when I do go that ppl will shut up cause these people were loud. lol. cool video
There used to be 2 and this one was called Incline #2. They got rid of the original one. It was a bit older and on a different side of the mountain. It used to take like 4 hours to drive up the mountain with horses and this was quicker. It was a tourist attraction for the Battle of The Clouds and Point Park. There was a huge hotel up there too. I think it burned. Can't remember. Haven't been up there in years since the family died.
My great-grandmother lived at the top of the mountain. Back then, you bought a season ticket and the locals would park in that big parking lot at the foot in the winter and ride it up. Her house was in walking distance. They never salted the road then. It is really steep but it's so automated now. It was always fun to watch the drivers hop off and switch trains mid way up. It is steep and it's gotten expensive to ride the darn thing. Tourist trap you know. Gorgeous view at the top.
I'm glad you had fun, I made a video of some other stuff in chatt town to do. I'm going to be make alot more and better stuff this summer. Hope you come back in the future, it's a pretty fun city.
I've lived here my whole life. Go here at least once a year, but then again, I live at the base of Lookout Mt.

I bought a ticket for Rock City, Ruby Falls and the Incline railway all together. Not sure what I paid. I am glad you enjoyed it also.

My parents and I were gonna ride it, but it was closed "thru" March.

That is too bad. I think it would be great to ride it when there is snow on the ground.
