Interesting choice of Beatles songs to cover. Unfortunately, Slade's voice doesn't match the squeaky clean, Transatlantic English charm this song delivers. Paul gives us a very clean, well fetched song with "Fixing A Hole"-- a well rounded tune, clever, glowing with a series of dominant sevenths from another era. Slade seems to dumb down some of those wonderful qualities. Still, a very entertaining rendition. And I liked the end a lot, where he starts to repeat "fixing a hole..."

@daz300174 Actually, its not the same studio/equipment. This song was one of the very rare occasions on which the fab four recorded somewhere other than Abbey Road. The normal guy wasn't available that day. Now ya know!

if it is live id like to know where all the voices are coming from...the lead singer has his voice over-dubbed at least once in most parts. And unless there are 2 people with mics who they didnt show, doing the backing oo's and ahh's are pre-recorded.

Guitarist doesn't get the solo quite right - George H went off a chord in the beginning; you can hear the notes bleed into one another. He also had the low E string tuned down, which the Fray guy doesn't.

Singer's voice is OK for these times, but limited - makes you appreciate how great the Beatles' vocalists were.

A sound engineer and producer, he worked with many top stars (four times grammy winner) and enjoyed a long collaboration with the Beatles. He recorded the original Sgt. Pepper Album which is why, on the forty year anniversary of the Sgt. Pepper release he was back in the studios at Abbey Road in London re-recording many of the well known track from Sgt Pepper with some of the current (two years ago) bands
