I red an article on Magee it said he already weighed 220 lbs by the time he was 16 years old he was training to be a gymnist but do to his size he broke the equiptment and had to give it up.

Tom Magee is the closest thing to Samson this world will ever see not only for his Samsonisc power and looks but also his endurance. Like paddling a Kyak nonstop for 20 miles or climbing some of the highest mountains in the world he just likes and has the God given ability to push his body mind and soul farther then any of us mortal human over 20 years later he still holds the Worlds Strongest Man Deadlift record of 1180 lbs.. In his prime he was stronger then the competitors of today.
@tubaSHANK indeed most strongmen of today are nowhere near as strong with no real atheletic ability and pumped with so much juice they are heart attacks waiting to happen
@127069 Aside from the fact that top strongmen of today lift heavier weights with equal athletic ability and are on just as much juice as the strongmen of the 80s, yet the slightest bit more chemically advanced.
@Maddolis I was talking about wsm,you dont get the monster powerlifters taking part anymore, hence the weights for max are lower ,though skill level of competitors is higher because strong man is now its own sport. In power lifting and weight lifting weights have crept up in modern times due to better drug and training I conceed.Magee was a freak to be agile and a top powerlifter, very rare
@127069 Fair enough, though absolute beasts like Savickas and Poundstone have been taking part the last couple of years. Then there's Koklyaev, who is possibly the only man that is truly elite at all three forms of weightlifting.
for me the reason this film is so spectacular is that the super strength athlete TOM MAGEE fights brian bosworth in this scene ---------- MAGEE had a spectacular role in the WORLD'S STRONGEST MAN competition and he looks like a sculpted statue instead of a big blob the way a lot of the strongmen look
Ha, I was there when they filmed it in Bay Saint Louis. Everything in that scene was obliterated by Katrina. Big E's was wiped out. They just finished the beach restoration (right up to the area in this scene) just last week; five years later.
Tom Magee! Holy Shit! He won World Strongman, and Canadian Strongman in 1986 i believe? They say he was 6'5" and weighed 275 lbs! He was ripped at that weight! He was great in this scene! I think he would have whooped up on Boz in a real fight! LOL!!
They filmed most of this movie in my home town. I went down and watched filming. Tom was actually Bozworth's body guard during the filming of the movie.
Yeah, there are some egregious continuity errors here. Also notice how the guy he fights is wearing a vest one moment, and it's nowhere to be seen the next.
Such oversights do nothing to diminish the fact that this is still an awesome fight, however.
Their worst mistake was making this film in the first place, don't get me wrong I thought this movie was the bee's knees when I was thirteen but it just doesn't hold up eightteen years later. I am however, a fan of Beyond the Law a flick that both undercover agents and 1%ers will tell you is true to life, anyway for some reason I always thought that the guy that Stone was fighting was Kerry Von Erich.I was incorrect, to tell you the truth I think he was already dead by the time they made this.

Tom Magee is a canadian strongman from way back in the day. He would have eaten Boz for breakfast if this had have been real.
