The Battle droid that Grevious punched must of been an OOM model which were somewhat more capable but more expensive than the nearly identical in appearance B1 model. The OOM were too expensive to mass produce in the numbers required to form a large army. So the B1 ones were made, but at the expense of less than adequate battle performance, nothing more than cheap scrap metal thrown to overwhelm the enemy in shear numbers. The OOM droids usually serve as ground officers and starship crew

@RocketHarry865 OOM-9 served as the field commander during the Invasion of Naboo, he was to send the Queen and her royal guard to be processed but followed the Viceroy out of loyalty so he wasn't present at their liberation by the Jedi. OOM-9 would later lead in the Battle of Otoh Gunga: forcing the Gungans to evacuate their long-time capital city in crushing defeat. OOM-9 was put in command to exterminate the remaining Gungans at the Battle of the Grassy Plains, and would have won the battle.

Wolf6120 - regarding your comment I see your point but its still somewhat ironic - in a Clone Wars junior novel Dooku pragmatically scolds a Techno Union supervisor over the loss of his factory where despite a '10 years' investment Dooku goes 'The factory, is expendable' when it got blown up - there you go - if droids cost a little credits - then what about also materials plus the foundries that are needed for them to be built eh?

Thats ironic...because B1 and B2 Battle Droids came out in the Quadrillions in CIS factories around the Rim Worlds and Dooku's criticizing the expenses of battle droids...I mean I thought it was only the Destroyer Droids, BX-series Commando Droids and IG-100 Magnaguards that tend to cost more...kinda funny actually

but B1s are (mainly) made by the thousands on geonosis in the factories and cost like 50 credits each counting all the metal
