As for me I've enjoyed all who have played bond ESP Sean connery who laid down he foundation, Pearce was bond when I started paying attention but after i saw Daniel Craig in CR hes now my fav bond, hes calculating and ruthless, just an all around bad ass for me!
I too had a hard time accepting him as Bond until this scene, but even still he has to convince me again in QOS. Connery, Brosnan, or even to a lesser extent Moore didn't have to sell me each time out. I never accepted Dalton or Lazenby.
I know it's supposed to be different, but The James Bond theme and line are required in a James Bond movie at least for me. Without it, I didnt feel like it was a James Bond movie and it was disappointing to have it all the end. All in all, it's good, but it loses something without it, I might as well be watching Never Say Never Again, which at least has a good excuse for no bond theme.
Going into Casino Royale, I knew it was a reboot, and was wondering how they would change the traditional formula. One of the first things I noticed: no "Bond James Bond" at the start. Then he didn't care how his drink was made. I thought, fair enough, new Bond. Then right at the end they dropped this on us, and I was like "Aw hell yeah!" Brilliant ending.
@OceanwhispererStudio I agree, this is the only scene I liked in Casino Royale as this is my least favourite Bond film. I know that Daniel Craig's bond is closer to Flemmings Bond, I found his acting a bit lame especially in the torture scene in this film. Another thing I disliked was the fact that Q and Monnypenny got written out of the story. I know they wanted to get rid of the gadgets, they should not have written Q out because he played other roles other than giving Bond the gadgets.
@OceanwhispererStudio (continuing from previous comment) As for Monnypenny they should have kept her because she appeared in almost all the Bond films like Q. It was not the same seeing this film without Q and monnypenny because they stole the show for me. I also disliked the more modern feeling in the film because I dont think it suits a Bond film and it didnt have much charm as the other films. I hope they reconsider the later Bond films with Daniel Craig, bringing back these things I miss.
@broman178 You and @OceanwhispererStudio are being so ridiculous right now. Daniel Craig is by far the greatest actor to ever play James Bond in film. Yeah, I loved Q as a kid, but gadgetry and outright silly flirting with Moneypenny have a habit of being quite corny. This film has done more to be true to the Ian Fleming Character than any other film since On Her Majesty's Secret Service, and for that we should have infinite respect. And the torture scene rocked by the way!
@BrandonLisi If you think Im being a bit ridiculus, Im sorry to say that this is my opinion and nothing will change it. Seriously just listen to that torture scene, Daniel Craig didnt scream in a realistic way because his screams sounded too comical. Why should people laugh at a man screaming in pain, torture scenes are not supposed to be hilarious, they should make us care about the character and feel sorry for them. This is PROOF that Daniel Craig sucked in that scene.
@BrandonLisi I also grew up with the other films, especially the ones with Sean Connery and Roger Moore, which is why I prefer them rather than Daniel Craig. I do like the idea of Bond being close to Flemmings character and I partly like Craig because of that but I would have liked him better if his acting was not so lame in that scene. I know too many gadgets and flirting scenes with Monnypenny did not suit the films too much but I loved both characters and I hope they return in the next film.
@BrandonLisi If you or anyone else disagree with my opinions, then please do not argue with me about my points because many people have different opinions on what they like and we cannot always have that same opinion. I do think he should be close to the novels but I also like him being portrayed in different ways which the other actors have done so, just my opinion.
@BrandonLisi No, are you? They made like 20 good bond films with pretty much the same formula and it worked, so why change it? I actually dont mind Daniel Craig as James Bond its just the stories for the last 2 have been crap
@OceanwhispererStudio Are you joking? Yeah they made 20 good Bond films with the same formula, and they have their place. But come on, some of those movies came across like a children's film or a video game. M presents a mission. Flirting with moneypenny, gadgets from Q. Random Bond Girl. It gets old after a while and its not serious drama. And if you don't like the story from Casino Royale, I guess that also means you don't like Ian Fleming's original novel, because they're very similar.
@OceanwhispererStudio The 23rd Bond film will have Moneypenny and Q. But here's the thing, read the books. They're a million times better than any of the he Films.
@waritgreen he's pissed. if i had a license to kill, like James Bond does, i'd probably do the same thing to the man that just killed my wife/fiancee/girlfriend/loved-one. [like he did.] (i know, i know, Mr. White didn't DIRECTLY kill Vesper. but he and the organization behind him (ie. the organization that Mr. White works for) were responsible for her committing suicide). (they extortioned her and bribed her. see the next movie, "Quantum of Solace", for further details).
The best Bond film, by a country mile. In my opinion the only Bond movie that has any level of character depth or emotion. Beautifully filmed, no tacky gadgets or poor gags.
A believable killer, opposite the most engaging Bond girl in Eva Green. For me, the film isn't even quite the same genre as the other 007 films. (Shame 'Quantum of Solace' couldn't follow it)
@Nabou1 I guess that it's a matter of taste. It's a fine Bond film, no doubt. But to me, the "cute" gadgets and gags are a part of the series to me. I also missed not having the amusing repartee between Bond and Q.
I did particularly love the title sequence for the great music and original use of a no girls and poker motif. And I agree that the closing scene in this clip is an outstanding way to end the film.
Perfect way to restart the 007 legend by saving the famous line as the last line in the movie. LOVE how the 007 theme slowly plays as Mr. White crawls with the main melody cued perfectly as you see Bond's shoes come into frame. Really makes you look forward to the rest of the series. ;)

@johnvattic1234 Yeah, did you notice D. Arnold inserted a few bars of it when Bond arrives in the Bahamas & just before he joins the card game w/Dmitrios?
I was eleven when Sean exploded into my life as 007 and I have witnessed the full panorama of his descent until Daniel arrived! Mark my words as long as he stays well and with the right direction does a few more films history will judge him as the best Bond of them all.
Daniel Craig's best Bond of them all.

@johnvattic1234 Not to mention the iconic line as the last dialog in the film!! Just a brilliant move on the writers' part!!
