@PrincesTomboy Yes, the purple-haired twin with the yellow ribbon is Tsukasa. Konata, the blue-haired creature, is not pointing someone. She is just showing the strange mark in her index finger. Or maybe this is a reference to the "Da-da-da-da-da!" in the oppening song.

Personally, I might be a fan, but I wouldn't call myself otaku unless you're Japanese and understand the history behind it. I'm a pretty hardcore fan, but I don't go by otaku. The history behind it is to rough.

@CelsiusSnowe well technically... Otaku means really really really really big fan. It can apply to anything. However, over the years, it has become increasingly related to anime/manga.

@Kayem237 What he wanted to say is, that in Japan the word "Otaku" is rather used as an Insult than a way to describe someone who is "just" a fan, no matter how big. In it orignial meaning, Otaku describes some "creep" who is totally obsessed with something (mainly, anime) and a disgrace to his or her family.

@EggManStudio As I said befor. I got nothing against the "otaku's" itself (rather, I'm one of them) but I just wanted to explain that the term itself - has a rather negativ meaning attached to it. Because of that, people who like anime like I and the rest do, but don't want to get "insulted"/"flamed" for it should rather call themselfs "fans" than otakus. Though, for people who really want to flame guys like us, the therm we use doesn't really matter anyway.
