  • Its a Child ballad not an Irish song

  • @vinnypops. This is Christy. Its the Opening track from "Prosperous".

The album he recorded with Lunny, Irvine and O'Faolain before they formed Planxty. You should check it out. I literally just listened to this and the album, side by side to be sure.

  • It's Planxty and Andy Irvine is singing, not Christy Moore

  • @vinnypops It is christy moore - check out planxty at the abbey tavern on youtube here and you'll see him sing like this as a younger man

  • @clunef100 Christy's voice never changed. I know the old Planxty songs. You can always tell Christy a mile away. This is not Christy. Not a chance

  • @vinnypops go away out of that, just read below. check out the video in the abbey tavern with planxty - the little drummer. it's christy there, same voice, christy here

  • no way in hell is that christy moore!! and if u think it is your ears must be filled concrete.

  • @diarmuid850 It's Christy Moore. It's in the same style.

  • @GatesOfHell4 no its not christy, id know hes voice a mile off, that aint him!! find me the album that exact song is off?..... cause he does raggle taggle gypsie on the album "traveller" and if u just listen to it ud realise that aint him singing in that version above, im right your wrong :o)

  • @diarmuid850 'Kay.

  • @diarmuid850

hey dickhead, hate reading posts from know-it-all's on youtube. it IS christy moore. could prove it but i'd hate to offer a guy like you help on anything

  • @clunef100 oh and before i forget, its andy irvine from planxty singing, a band that christy moore was in!! ya thick cunt

  • @diarmuid850

you're obviously a young lad who's just got into the music - we were all once there. you don't know what you're talking about and i wont let this go you little fuckin eejit.

you obviously know nothing about planxty if you think that's andy irvine.

first, go listen to andy - the plains of kildare - great song, great singer and you should start to realise how wrong you are.

then go listen to planxty at the abbey tavern - the little drummer - and you'l realise that THIS is christy

  • @diarmuid850

and THEN... please reply to this post.

you'll be the one with the concrete in his ears or whatever stupid remark you said

and THEN... eat your humble pie and start enjoying the music

  • my da used to have a tape with a whole load of trad music on it that he used to listen to when he was pissed. this was one of the songs i liked off it (the cliffs of dooneen was another).

i hadn't heard this version of this song in neary 20 years unti today.

thanks a million for posting it

  • even using &fmt=18, it still doesn't sound in stereo, but great song!

  • Yeah it's planxy, I've got the CD.

  • Indeed it is the great man himself...I listened to this many times when I was an elementary school student (or, as we say in Ireland, "primary school"), my brother was a huge fan.

  • go download it then !!!!

  • thanks for the video mate but it dnt sound lyk christy at all is it defo him?

  • danny that was christy back a while ago i have his box set nd this is on it same sound....

  • That is defo not christy moore look at all the other live christy moore vids ul see den...

  • As someone who has been following Christy's career for 20+ years, I can say with certainty that this is indeed Christy during his years with Planxy. His 'sound' has changed as he has aged. Quite normal.

  • I love this song. His voice makes me sad and happy at the same time. I`dont care which version it is... I just feel the music...

    Thank you joh73 ;-)

  • This has to be a live Planxy version of Raggle Taggle Gypsy/Tamhair dom do lamh. Nice!

  • its definitely christy im sure its "69"

  • You're all wrong ! its Planxty on Shananchie !

Theres only our rivers on it etc.

    Get in mr coyne..

  • This is the EXACT version from Christy's Prosperous album. I love it!

  • this is so obviousy christy.

  • u stones....... u aint a christy fan, this is christy years ago, raw, brilliant, on form not irvine!!!!!!

christy always had it and still has, best preformer this country has to offer and always has been

  • are you lot serious? where or how does this sound like christy? there is a bit of a dublin twang in it for crying out lord. great tune!!

  • Are you all retards? It's Christy. Completely obvious.

  • It is all beginning to resemble a Dave Allen sketch!.

I wouldn't take it so seriously, except I believe that Christy really is "The Greatest Living Irishman".

You would think people would at least pay a little more attention to his history and remarkable music!.

  • This sounds like the "Prosperous" version of this, I like the version on the black "Planxty" LP of 1972-3 best of all.BTW: it IS Christy singing. Some of these tracks have Kevin Conniffe (The Chieftans) playing bodhran.

  • Goggle Wikipedia.

Type in "Chrisy Moore".Scroll down to Albums.See that highlighted one called Prosperous.

    Click on it!.

Side one, track one."the Raggle Taggle Gypsies;Tabhair dom do lamh".Trust me,this is that song!.

You are partly right, this was Planxty in all but name, and Andy played guitar on this. But they re-recorded it later.A very excellent album, but definitely Christy singing all the way!.

  • not christy

  • Is so!.

  • Taken from "Prosperous" LP from all those years ago but I do like the nice professionally priduced version off the eponomous LP Planxty.

  • I like 'em both!.

  • you people who say this is not christy are extremely arrogant. There are plenty who have said that this is on the prosperous album which it is. So unless you have listened to this album do not say its not christy

  • This is from the Prosperous album from 1973. His voice has changed a lot over the years ..

  • 1972.

everybodys voice has changed since 1972!!.

  • thats not christy, im a big big fan of christy, he has a deeper voice and a calmer voice

  • Its 100% christy.Listen to prosperous and it will put you right.

  • the song is actualy on both planxty and christy moore solo albums.defo prosperous, cant remember what the planxty album is called.

  • it was selftitled

  • Yes it is Christy!!! One of my christy moore albums I have has this song on it.... so sorry but your wrong :0

  • The acousticness with the chorus can be explained with only one word. EPIC.

  • Mick Hanly???? This is definitely Christy Moore and for those who dont believe buy the

Christy Moore album 'Prosperous' Track One

    Tabhair dom do lamh

  • 100% Christy. awesome tune.

  • Yep. This was Christy Moore when he was in Planxty.

  • Absolutely. This is Planxty.

  • see above

  • Definitely not Christy. Maybe Mick Hanly?

  • yeah it is Christy. It's from the early 1970s. He used to have a much higher voice. I've just been listeing to the Chisty Box Set. His voice has changed a lot over the years ..

  • it is Noel Barry singing

  • cliche i know but where is the song writing like that anymore. love damo but he still doesn't come close.

  • one of irelands great song writers puts everything into his songs keep it going Christy.

  • Thanks for posting!
