In FPse you choose "Settings" - "Hardware Keys" then you can assing Hardware Keys to PSX-Buttons. You should disable Touchscreen Buttons then

how did you get this to work (except for the cable), is this an option in FPse?
i can type with mine,, but I can't use my keyboard in games or is there some sort of app?

Can you put up a vid of N64 emulation? I'm thinking about buying one of these and want to see its horsepower with emulation.
