Watched this clip this morning, tyed up a couple, went fishing this afternoon, and caught two fish on it, how happy am i, big fan of yours, i have learnt so much form your posts! cheers duncan
Hi Davie,I was hoping to pick your brains on a wet fly fished on lochs up the west coast and the Galloway hills called the mulranny pig,my father used to fish it on the bubble and fly on the dungeon hill lochs,he has told me it was tied using amethyst pheasant, cheers,John.
Hi Davy,I was brought up in bellsbank and fished the Galloway hill lochs all my childhood and still try to fish them as often as I can, I remember the cock a bondhu fishing well on macaterick and riecawr, finlas, among others.I've been a spinning man most of my days, but at the tender age of 36 I've decided to try and fish properly(as I,m often reminded) ha,I've started tying salmon flies as well for the coming season on the Tyne, your tying videos are a real masterclass, cheers Davy, might meet you
I lived in Mossdale Crescent for 9 years when I was a wee boy and all those lochs is where I went on my holidays, far better than Butlins. Like yourself I would spend many a day driving and fishing all around the Galloway hills as much as I could..If you are ever down that way and you see an old wine coloured Passat estate it will probably be me..Good Luck on the fly tying and fishing...
Not fished for a while due to it being the worst winter here for 40 plus years but I hope to very soon as the trout season starts Monday..Glad you are enjoying the videos....
I havent had much time to fly fish been working alot latley.
Just been getting ready for a few tournaments that are coming up. We miss this months but I was really wanting to go all I had to do was catch one 14" bass on my fly rod and I would have had a lake record. The only one thats has been caught was a white bass 7 pounds and a few ounces. But all ways next time..
I'm glad you are enjoying the videos..I sat down and thought what spelling I would use so I did it with the (H) as the flies were tyed for Ireland and that's the way it's spelled in Peter O' Reilly's book...
Believe it or not but I tyed 27 of these flies and they are all on their way to bonnie Ireland. Fish them anywhere on a cast of two to three flies close to the surface but to be honest you could fish them any way...
Hello davie, could you provide a video of you tying the grouse and claret and the teal and green, both classic Galloway hill wets, cheers again,John.

Hi Davie, I find your videos very very helpful.I have done well withyour purple cascade.Thank you very much.
Out of interest this fly is called Coch y bonddu in Welsh or some times Coch a bonddu. The bondhu seems Irish or maybe Scottish.
