  • @glatts420 You are very welcome! I hope you love the soup!

    --Betty :)

  • Betty - Could I get away with using a nice parmigiano-reggiano cheese instead of cheddar? Thanks for all you do.

  • @jayocallaghan Yes, parmigiano-reggiano cheese would be delicious in this tomato soup!

    --Betty :)

  • Thanks for sharing this Betty. I made a few changes based on what was in my pantry. I used chili ready diced tomotoes, 1 can of tomato bisque soup, 1/2 cup milk, and the cheddar cheese. I got a wonderful and flavorful soup. I paired it with a grill cheese sandwich. It was delicious! :)

  • @mahoganybella That does sound delicious! Thanks for your feedback!

    --Betty :)

  • Lovely!

  • @kramenna Thanks!

    --Betty :)

  • Hi Betty - just wanted to let you know that I made this soup last night and it was absolutely delicious! And this is coming from someone who always makes tomato soup the hard way! I served it with biscuits and my husband loved it so much, he had two servings! Thank you for such a great recipe! :) x

  • @Nemie125 Thanks for the great feedback! I appreciate it so much!

    --Betty :)

  • hi betty! this video makes me feel hungry...i wish i can eat that soup right now...:(

  • @beybideng13 Thanks for your lovely comment!

    --Betty :)

  • what could I use instead of condensed milk?

  • @RachelMcCarn You may use regular milk, and it won't be much different--still tastes very good. Half-and-half would be a good substitution, too.

    --Betty :)

  • what is the serving size with this soup??

  • @peytonsawyer818 It would be very small when served with a complete meat. If served as the meal, the soup will serve 4 to 6.

    --Betty :)

  • This looks a delcious tomato soup. I luv tomato soup with grilled cheese sandwhiches. I like the addition of the bacon to this soup. I bet it is wonderful. I plan to make it sumtime real soon! I think this is a soup that my husband & myself would both enjoy! Thanx for another great recipe Betty! :)

  • @1970sarteaga You are very welcome for the recipe! My family loves it! Thanks for your sweet comment!

    --Betty :)

  • Ok actually there's isn't any tomato soup here :(

  • @Emux33 You can still use diced, herbed tomatoes, and add milk and cheese to get a similar tomato soup.

    --Betty :)

  • The campbell soup in your country is watery. The one is my country is quite solid :(

  • @Emux33 Everything seems to be cut and squeezed here a little. Canned soup here recently is no exception. A little less meat and noodles.

  • @Trashfished yeah :(

  • Love this! Now I do not have to do the lazy man's tomato soup which is powder milk + packaged pasta sauce XD

  • @beadyslay Thanks for your nice comment!

    --Betty :)

  • I've been making a version of this for years. I call it "grown ups tomato soup" lol. I never added the bacon though. That would really kick it up! Thanks 4 another great recipe :)

  • @JennyferS9 Thanks for your lovely comment! I hope you enjoy the bacon topping!

    --Betty :)

  • i'm so gonna make this

    xD

  • @lookmypantsareonfire That's great!

    --Betty :)

  • Betty, Eversince I have started watching your videos, you have been a true inspiration to me and the food you make is always absolutely delicious. I have been recommending your videos to all my friends and family. I still really want to see a couscous recipe from you! I love couscous and i'm sure i'd love it even more if i try it with your recipe! Thank you for all your recipes! :)

  • @messi0123 Thanks for your lovely comment! I will be doing couscous at some point.

    --Betty :)

  • am on the fence about canned tomato's ..think I would puree the tomatos so there would be no chunks ..bacon is an awesome ingredient :)

  • @HamTheDog You can certainly puree the tomatoes to keep the soup from being chunky, but I actually enjoy the chunks in this soup.

    --Betty :)

  • @HamTheDog Im on the opposite spectrum, I think I will have to make this but omit the canned tomatoes and start out with sauteing a fresh tomato with garlic and oregano then continue with the recipe from there. I was going to grill some cheese sandwiches but after seeing there is cheese in the soup I think I will just grill some fresh bread! One of the great things about Bettys recipes is how well you can adapt them to your own tastes.

  • @XphR Thanks for your nice comment! I like your ideas for changing up the recipe. I hope others will take this as an example of my recipes being guidelines that you may change to fit your own needs and preferences! Thanks for sharing!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen You are very welcome! Thats one of the things I love about your recipes, they are great guidelines that take what could be challenging meals and make them very approachable. They are easy to adjust or delicious to follow just as they are! Anyone watching these videos thinking "I couldnt do that", try it because I bet you can!

  • @tishadontplay1 Thanks!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Hi Betty, could I use this as a pasta sauce? Looks really good! Thank for recipe and please reply! Thank you <3

  • @pinkeyshort Yes, it would be good as a pasta sauce; I think I would omit the bacon.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Wow thanks for the really fast reply! :D It seems a little thin though, do you have any tips on how i can make it thicker? Thanks! :D

  • @pinkeyshort You could probably lightly scald the milk to further reduce it, though Betty may have some other ideas as well. I would also crumble the bacon and sprinkle it over the pasta after it has been plated as opposed to omission.

  • @pinkeyshort You could drain the tomatoes, omitting the liquid that comes from those, and the sauce will be thicker.

    --Betty :)

  • will lumpia go with this?

  • @llib90630 Any type of egg roll would be great with this soup!--Betty :)

  • I like easy! I'm going to try your bacon tip too.

  • @kaybees49 Thanks! This soup is *very* easy, and we love it!

    --Betty :)

  • That looks so good.

  • Betty your soup looks so wonderful and oh the bacon on top looks so yummy.:-)

  • Yum Betty! Cheese and bacon makes EVERYTHING taste good! Your my Favorite cook!! Show us how to make some really good pea soup with home made croutons on top. :D

  • Looks really good b

  • You made a simple classic into a LUXURIOUS treat! Pure GENIUS!

  • Looks great Betty! Thanks!

  • Hi Betty! Was that really only a 1/2 cup of cheese? For some reason, I thought it looked like a whole cup, but I'm probably wrong. Thanks for this delicious recipe! ;)

  • @TheRealQuerida Yes--it was really 1/2 cup (a 1/2 measuring cup filled).

    -- Betty:)

  • :::APPLAUDE::: bon appitite..

  • Great idea of flavors Betty.

  • can it be done in a slow cooker???

  • @squirrel6158 Yes, but it cooks so quickly on the stove top that it is done shortly after you would have stirred the ingredients together. Of course, if you do not have a stove top, but do have a crock pot, certainly you should go ahead and use it!

    --Betty :)

  • Open up a restaurant please

  • @laurencelikestopgun I've always wanted to do that!

    --Betty :)

  • Your tomato soup looks lovely Betty. I had some tomato and basil soup for lunch today but this was out of a tin...yours looks so much tastier, I will be trying this recipe for sure...thanks for sharing .....Richard :-)

  • @richardpeej I hope you enjoy the soup! Have a great day, Richard!

    --Betty :)

  • Betty...I will be sure to prepare this and I am sure that me and my husband will enjoy it here in South Carolina. Thank you for sharing your recipe....

  • @tiparker119 I hope you and your husband enjoy the tomato soup!

    --Betty :)

    --Betty :)

  • @dmc31400 Thanks for your sweet comment! I hope you enjoy the soup!

    --Betty :)

  • this looks LOVELY! may i ask why you always say your food is great for mothers day?

  • @thissmellss i guess coz mother's day is coming.....

  • @monicasweetu91 That's it!

    --Betty :)

  • @thissmellss I have been doing a series of food suggestions for Mother's Day. In the U.S., Mother's Day is this coming Sunday.

    --Betty :)

  • how can any one dislike dis....???

  • @monicasweetu91 Obviously, some people do. I get criticized when I make something like tomato soup, without starting with raw tomatoes. My philosophy, however, it that more of my viewers want ideas on how to combine flavors, and they usually want a quick and easy method. Most of them realize that they can adapt the recipe if, for example, they want to start with raw tomatoes and add dried herbs. I feel an obligation to try to meet the needs of the majority of my viewers.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Well all those picky people can go watch the Food Network LOL. I appreciate your channel for that very reason--the recipes are easy and use ingredients most folks use or keep on hand. Working people/moms don't have time to let raw ingredients cook most nights!

  • @moovlvrtew Thanks for your sweet comment!

    --Betty :)

  • Oh my Lord, Betty!!!!! Tomato soup is my most favorite soup!!! I HAVE to make this!!! YUMMO!!

  • @Elvis66 I hope you enjoy the soup!

    --Betty :)

  • Thanks Betty, this would be ideal for a Mom's Day lunch. Easy and very quick for us Mom's who have to cook our own lunch or dinner. Do you have a gourmet cheese sandwich to accompany this?

  • @grandmacheapcheap Yes, I have a cheese sandwich that I think would go perfectly with the tomato soup:

    youtube.com/watch?v=EI_QP2mslR4

I hope you enjoy the two recipes!

    --Betty :)

  • This looks wonderful, Betty! I LOVE tomato soup and have been looking for a new way to make it recently. Thanks so much.

Is there another topping you might recommend other than bacon?

  • @Lilyflower207 You may leave out the bacon topping, if you don't like the flavor of bacon. Otherwise, you could sprinkle the top with Baco's bacon bits. Another option would be to sprinkle finely chopped parsley on the top.

    --Betty :)

  • is this the american way of making tomato soup? cus my mom her in holland makes it totally diffrent..

  • @Gargopallet16

No, not really, Betty was playing around with her own creation of Tomato soup. The normal way that Americans know of is Cambell's condenced tomato soup but if we were to make it homemade we would saute chuncks of tomatos seaoning and chicken broth, then blended with other real tomatos and pour the pura in the pan sautee some more and mayby add some cream if you want creamy tomato soup.

  • @Gargopallet16 This is just a form of "tomato soup" that you can make in a few minutes that gives you a different flavor, if you are tired of the same old tomato soup. It is obviously not made from scratch, but you may change the recipe if you like.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen

okay thanks betty! sorry i didnt know but i asked because you know im intrested in american food/recipe's :)

    --Sylvano :)

  • @Gargopallet16 I am always happy for your questions!

    --Betty :)
