@lukenuetzmann Funny thing about that. I tried that method as well and Virtualdub wasn't cutting it either. Maybe it's some small detail I'm missing, but meh. Thanks for the suggestion, Luke.
@lukenuetzmann Guess I should have asked in my last response, what codec would be best if I were to use VirtualDub to convert it into something Vegas would agree with?
@EbonJackal At the top of the screen in Vdub's menu click video > compression... > select xvid > configure button > other options button > make sure "print debug" and "display encoding status" are UNCHECKED as this could cause everything to crash otherwise. Now just OK your way out and file > save as avi.
@lukenuetzmann Thanks for the quick walkthrough. Unfortunately, after having tried it, the videos still come out exceptionally pixelated and impossible to make anything out. Unless there's some other option I'm still not understanding, Sony Vegas is still dead to me.

FRAPS to Virtualdub then over to Sony Vegas. For whatever reason Sony Vegas doesn't much like uncompressed AVI.

@EbonJackal I use XVid Mpeg-4, just make sure you have the status window disabled under its configuration.

@lukenuetzmann Huh. I remember reading that Vegas 9 on up does not accept XVid. Was that just some sort of lie?

@EbonJackal I guess so, it seems to work fine for me. I'm using Vegas 9.0 pro.

@lukenuetzmann Okay, so I just redownloaded all the tools. Question now is: what options do I use to save an old video file in the XVid codec?

Thanks much for it, Luke, all the same.
