  • can you please tell me if a screen off a 6500s will fit a nokia 6700c thanks .

  • @chrishelenrose The 6500s uses the same screen as the E65 ,5610 XpressMusic, 5700 XpressMusic, 6110 Navigator, 6220 Classic, 6303, 6303c, 6500 Slide, 6600 slide, 6650 fold(big);6730,8600.

    But not the 6700 :-(

  • Thanks for posting,it took me less that 2 mins to change the screen, but beware cheap screens off ebay, the one i bought was £5 and the clarity is not very good.

  • @chrishelenrose Your welcome, did you use this video or the new HD one?

  • dzięx:)

  • thanks heaps! I'm glad I didn't hurry to go to a mobile repair shop

  • You'r right about either T4 or T5 screws. My screen came with a T5 which was too big really but just about did the job. The driver was only £3.50 so I'd recomment buying both. My screen cost under £5 and it shows now it's fitted, the resolution is nowhere near as good as the original. So I would recommend spending the extra and getting the a proper Nokia one or one that has more pixels than the one I bought but I'm content to have a working phone again and the repair cost me less than a tenner.

  • @sessmaniac I wish i read this before i bought my new screen off Ebay, it cost £5 including tools and its resolution is not good, but at least my phone works.

  • Thanks very much, used your video and successfully managed to replace my 6700 classic screen without any incidents. Much appreciated!

  • hey can you tell me...are you recording in memory card or cassette.. :D

  • @geca46 This was recorded using MiniDV cassette, my new HD camera uses SD memory cards

  • Hi there, very nice and clear video, i liked it :)

But I want to ask a little question !

On my 6700 classic, on the right side, there are 2 "plastic" volume buttons, one of them ( volume down button ) fell off, and now its broken :( are there any these "frames" on ebay ? What name do they have ?

Thank you, waiting for your answer :)

  • @reVo1ted I've just had a search on eBay and there's plenty, just search for 'nokia 6700 classic housing'.

I plan to make a Full HD version of this phone in the next few weeks. In the new video it will show how to put that tiny little 'volume rocker' part back in.

    Have a Happy New Year

  • @reVo1ted I've now uploaded a new HD version which shows how to change the frame. I've put a link in the description and a video response below

  • Great keep up the good work!

  • Thanks LE55ONS very much . I appreciate a lot people like you sharing their knowlegde to help others.

  • i'm not good at all.

Removing the top part I have broken the black plastics sourroundind the screws . Now the top part doesn't fix because the piece that is behaing the top is not fixed any more and move up.

How can i solve the problem?. Thanks very much.

    pops

  • @erlanz212 You need to buy a new aerial, they are very cheap and easy to buy on-line, just search for 'nokia 6700 classic aerial' on ebay. I've just had a look and there's plenty on there

  • @erlanz212 I've now uploaded a HD version which might help you..

  • Great Vid. Do you know where I can source a motherboard with chips for a Nokia 6700c? Thanks in advance.

  • @wtongtube I've had a Google and can't find any source for a motherboard. Faulty ones seem to sell for about £30 in the UK, but I suppose the motherboards might be faulty in them...

  • @LE55ONS

Ok thanks, maybe time to buy a new one. Any recomendations for a basic reliable 3g phone?

  • @wtongtube I would get another one of these, you'll find it hard to beat the size and battery life.

They just feel so nice to hold...

  • I follow your instruction and replace the screen successfully. Thanks

  • @rassa747 Your welcome..

  • Thank you ! I had difficulties when removing the second piece, but this video gave me an other and easier way to proceed (you have to remove another piece before) : watch?v=DMX354xXao0&feature=related (it is not a video as good as this one as you will see...)

  • @bios4c44 watch out for the volume rocker, its hard to get it back in the right way. I might do a HD video showing the way you suggested, as in HD you'll be able to see which way round the plastic bit should go..

  • Fitted the new screen, still not turning on or responding to charging

  • @oOwilkinss Did it charge or respond before you fitted a new screen?

  • @LE55ONS yeah it did once then wouldn't do it again, if I can't fix it just going to sell it on ebay

  • I thank you much for this video. It is a great assistance.

Danke für das Video. Es ist eine große Hilfe.

  • Great video.

Bought new screen on ebay £5.75 including tools!

    Took 10 minutes to replace.

Saved myself a few quid. Many thanks

  • @jayceeno3 I love all the positive feedback I keep getting, just makes me want to make more videos. I've been messing about with electronics for 30 years and its nice to be able to share some of my experience with the whole world!

  • Thanks! GREAT VIDEO, I made it without any hick ups. Cheers

  • thanx for this amazing video !

  • Brilliant vid. Thanks a lot. Just installed new screen and it works perfectly. Saved me tonnes of money. You rock!

  • Thanx for great vid!

Follow the steps in the video, after i put it back together there is no sound from the speaker! What to do?

  • @broderaron The silver and black part under the top cover is the antenna, if the top corners are damaged or broken it doesn't push the speaker down onto the circuit board. A new antenna it will cure your problem or you could try glueing it like another user mentioned in a comment below...

  • 2:39 Harder than it looks?! It's fucking ridiculously tight.

  • Hi I have a Nokia 6700 classic, I have sent for a new screen off EBay, is there any thing I need to know regarding the correct one for my phone !!, I sent a email to the person who is selling the screen and I got told this is the correct one. What is this to look out for the antenna.

    Great video.

    Dave O.

  • @Juliaoly1 You'll soon know if its the right one after you've fitted it. As for the antenna look out for broken parts by the screws, you'll either have to glue it or buy a new one if its been damaged

  • hi when i replaced the screen i lost reception, any advice?

  • @alowhite That silver part under the top cover is the antenna, its possible the top corners are broken so its not being pushed down onto the contacts. Try having a close look under that top cover, if the corners are broken you can fit a new antenna, I had to replace mine after I dropped it ..

  • @LE55ONS spot on mate thats exactly what it was. the part where the screw goes through to hold down the antenna had broken away. i was actually able to glue this back together and its working perfect now. although probably not all that advisible to use glue on a phone. great vid and thanks for getting back to me so quick to sort that problem.

  • Wow Thank you so much...it's so easy after saw this vedio.

  • a big video & big help.

    thx.

    grettings from Spain!

  • Thanks for the easy step by step instructions, got the screen and screw drivers of that Auction site for £5.99 and fixed it just now.......hardest part is getting the silver face of.phone..broke a nail...LOL

  • thanks so much! big help!

  • Thanks for your very good instructions, fixed my mom's 6700 in a breeze!

  • Thanks

  • Great Tutorial!! Thanks to this I was able to replace the screen on a friends phone successfully.(The replacement screen cost £5.99 with free postage and came with the screwdriver and case opening tool from a company called universalgadgets01 on e-bay.)Thanks again.I was quoted £60 to replace the screen by a local repair shop but its so easy to do it yourself andsave money.

  • Hi..Great tutorial but is it the same method for a nokia 7610 please

  • my key pad half of its come off it was water damaged i decided to vacuum it now i dnt know what to do please help me

  • @SuperAadam009 try looking on a popular on-line auction site for a new keypad, I'm sure you'll find one on there..

  • Ok, i'll give it a go! How about the font colour? Anything i can do, or have i bought a dodhy screen?

Is it advisable to buy a genuine Nokia screen?

  • @petegit It does sound like a faulty screen. I used a genuine Nokia one in this video and its still being used now. I think the cheaper ones are good value for money but your bound to get the odd one that's faulty

  • thanks for this video.followed instructions and worked really well.thanks again...

  • I have a 6700 classic in black, is it possible to change to chrome metallic fascia and keypad ?

  • @pathdestroyer Yes, but you'll need to undo the middle 2 screws and if the volume switch/rocker falls out it can be very tricky to put it back right..

  • @LE55ONS i want to do the opposite of what you did, how did it go?

  • @No1Gotti I have no idea what your question is about?

  • I bought a screen off ebay and changed it with no trouble, but the font is now white and difficult to read in sunlight. I've gone to settings and tried to change it to black, but it won't change Have i damaged something?

Also, the little press bar on the right hand side of the phone has come out, and i can't get it to stay in! Anything i can do?

Very concise and easy to follow video. Well done!

  • @petegit Sounds like the volume bar has come out, its very tricky to get it back in correctly which is why I don’t mention undoing the middle screws. You'll have to experiment until you find the right way it goes in..

  • Thanks for a great video! I used T4. Taking off the faceplate was the only hard part!

  • all those should be done in an electrostatic-free place and also wearing gloves .

  • @sestar u'r right guyz =)

  • Many thanks for this. I was going to bin my phone after the screen cracked, but with a £6 screen from ebay and by following this tutorial, it's back to the way it was.

  • Good job !!! It a bit more fiddly taking the case off first time tho. U made it look sooooo easy.!! Cheers

  • just this second finished doing this. thanks for the guide. real easy and nicely explained. thanks

  • You made this so easy for me .

Thank you for taking time to share

    this knowledge.

  • 10/10 for that. Saved me a few quid. Thanks.

  • Really clear instructions many thanks for sharing you knowledge, I just need to take mine apart due to dust on the inside of the screen. need a T4 or T5 not sure which so I will buy them both. cheers

  • Brilliant professional video by someone who knows what he is talking about. Thanks for your effort and time!!

  • you are a lifesaver.thanks for uploading this video.i have just changed mine and its working PERFECTLY.

i have rated your video.thanks again

  • An excellent step by step guide, no problem following instructions. It saved me alot of money.

    Thanks very much.

  • Thanks for this - gave me the confidence to change my broken screen! Found getting the front panel off the hardest, but got there in the end. Thanks again!

  • My display just died for some reason, not sure if it's cracked or not. This is a great video! Thanks for posting!!

  • @sestar No you are the dick! This video just saved me £70! I like my 6700, the downside is the keyboard that lifts after a while. Mine also had loads of scratches. 3 Network were no longer offering to replace it so I was on the verge of buying a second hand one on ebay for £90! On seeing this video what I did instead was order a set of precision screwdrivers for £6 and a new fascia for £15! Used this video as a guide. I'm a woman, not technical at all, and now I have a revamped phone, you dick!

  • hi My 6700 classic camera cover mean mirror is broken how can i changed it any hint u have?

  • thanks i got the same problem but my key bord was need to change dindt know how to do it u helpt my out ty

  • great post works a treat

  • @sestar well i followed his guide to the letter and no probs at all get a life and thank you poster great vid keep up the good work

  • i'm wondering how to repair the screen on the 6700 slide... is it possible.. cos it would be so much easier for me to purchase a new LCD for 13 bucks, than wait for nokia to figure out if its covered under warranty

  • hey, nice guide, but there is one thing i need to know exactly... which screw-driver will i need? T4 or T5...? because i don't want to buy both of them... thanks a lot :)

  • @adamqckzak It could be either one as Nokia have used both sizes during production of this phone. Best idea would be to take the phone to your local hardware shop and see which one fits...

  • @adamqckzak it's T4. I know because i bought it today

  • This guide is mentioned at Repair4MobilePhone.

  • Thanks very much.

Actually I didn't have to change the screen itself but wanted to change the housing of the mobile and the video really helped me to replace it.

    Keep up the good work.

  • thankyou!!

  • Well i made it.Thanks for the video.Really helpful!

  • I have the black one but i can't get off the face plate.Any ideas!

  • I have allready undone the 4 screws but can't get it off by thumb or plastic knife.

  • Would I have to do this whole process just to replace the outside protective plastic screen? Or is there another way?

Also is there anything I need to look out for when removing that screen? thanks :)

  • @samtehpwner This is the only way I know to change the front screen, carefully follow the video and send me a message if you get stuck...

  • @LE55ONS Found out today that the phone my friend wants fixing is the slide version anyway? Not sure if you have any tips for that? I'm going to hunt out a disassembly video for that one now anyway :)

  • my nokia is a 1680c (pretty old) any1 know where i can buy a screen for it?

  • @lolzalot666 I just searched ebay for 'nokia 1680 screen' and found one for £6.50 or you can buy a brand new one for about £35

  • can you give me any information on how to change the screen on a nokia c5,thank you

  • Hi, once again thanks for the detailed Vid, now, a question, I got everything done, worked like a charm but now when the Phone goes into standby the screen is white and on all of the time, any ideas? I have tried updating Firmware and tried a handful of other screens.

    Kev.

  • @stretnik1 I know a few other people have had the white screen problem and a different one fixed it. If you've tried other screens and still have the same problem I'm not sure what else to suggest.

Perhaps try an original Nokia one?

  • @LE55ONS Cheers, will do, I fixed another 6700 Classic at the same time and it's working fine, I'll try to find an original screen from Nokia.

    K.

  • Found this Vidtorial ( My Word ) to be flawless, took me a while but got there.

    Thank you so much.

    Kev.

  • @stretnik1 Not flawless but I do my best. Thank you for your kind words...

  • You are a complete star! I am a complete numpty where technology is concerned but when I dropped my 6700 and the display stopped working I had to do something - and cheaply! I watched your video and thought I might be able to do it - AND I DID!! This is little short of a miracle. Thank you so much, you have a lovely voice too btw, very calming and reassuring :)

  • @ebnalclose Thanks very much for your comments, I have plans to make many more of these in the future...

  • hi well once i got really angry and threw my nokia 6700 classic on the floor and well the led flash flew away somewhere and i cant find it do you know where you can buy one and can you make a video of changing the housing cover for nokia 6700 classic please?

    thank you

  • @MrColakid11 I've just looked on ebay and there's a few covers on there that should come with the flash L.E.D. Its supposed to be stuck on the back cover, you could always ask the seller before buying.

Sorry I can't do video on how to change the case as I don't have one anymore...

  • Great 'How to'. Some on youtube are blurry. Your close-ups are spot on.

Do you have a tutorial on a Nokia 6760 screen replacement? Bit more complicated cos of the slide-phone aspect. I'm too chicken to give it a go, and too cheap to pay a phoneshop :-)

    Any help greatly appreciated.

  • @pattbonn I'd like to get hold of 6760 and do another one of these vids. I'll have a look on ebay for a broken one to mess about with. Thanks for watching

  • Very helpful - 1 problem

Struggled to get front cover off phone (a lot of grunting and swearing involved).

Screen replaced, but front cover wouldn't "click" into place, and there's now a little gap around the edges.

I think the cover now doesn't close due to the replacement screen being a tad thicker than the original.

  • @thisisrpg I've not heard of your problem before, the screws should pull the case back down to flush. It might be the new screen, perhaps you could try putting the old screen back to see if that fixes the problem. I've had quite a few messages about problems with the screen staying white or not switching off etc. and its all been down to faulty screens. If you read down all the comments you'll see some posts about it. Thanks for watching...

  • Thank you Thank you Thank you, I have had lots of bad luck with my phone and you have made it so easy...Great job....

  • @trobdang1 Your welcome, I hope you have better luck with it in 2011

  • Great video as I need to replace my wife's keypad for Cyrillic version. However, what is it I can hear @ 6:19??? Is that part of the removal process?

  • @fullcircledesign I think that was my dog! LOL

  • Hi

just a quick ask i am trying to replace a nokia 6730 screen. Can't seem to find a disassembly vid anywhere!

Do you know if the 6730 is the same type of set up as the 6700?

    Thanks

  • @piratesfc I have never seen a 6730 so I can't really comment...

  • Wonderful how-to! Just have one question that you might be able to answer.

When the screen is supposed to go black and into "sleeping mode" it still glow in its black-ish kind of way...

I know its not supposed to do this. Any thoughts?

  • @makeway2 From what I've read in these comments its a faulty screen. If you read down you'll see a similar problem that was solved when they sent the screen back and fitted another one. Thanks for watching...

  • Thank you, it was very very very helpfull.

  • BLOODY BRILLIANT.

car phone warehouse told me my phone was to expensive to repair fixed it thanks to ebay for £7.99 . plus a great video showing me exactly how to do , was a bit harder than the guy in video shows , but did it the same front plate is tricker than it looks

  • Cheers Mate. Really appreciate this video, screen was destroyed by a little bastard in school and this was a great help with repairing it! Cheers ♥

  • Brilliant How To!!! I spent £6.50 for a screen and the tools to replace it off ebay. I was quoted £75 to have the phone repaired. What a saving!!

Only thing to add is perhaps if like mine, your front cover doesn't just pop off ala the one in the video, remove the tiny middle black screws and remove the black pastic middle surround revealing the clips to the front cover.

  • @ilovepikeys I did try including your tip in the video, but it gets very complicated if the antenna fall off, a very small bit of plastic must be put back the right way or the volume won't work. So I thought it was best to keep it simple. Thanks for watching...

  • Having watched the video I have the confidence to buy a screen off Ebay and replace myself. Excellent, informative video, thank you!

  • i saved 50 pounds thanks

  • Brilliant, very helpful and easy. Saved me £££££££££ thx so much.

  • Thanks. Very helpful.

I do, however, have one problem after changing the screen. It works in general, but when the screen is supposed to go off (after some inactivity) it will instead lighten up completely all white and stay like that until I touch a button. Any suggestions?

  • @bjursus If it wasn't doing it before I would suspect a faulty screen. If you read through all the comments you'll see someone else with a similar problem. Nokia released new firmware for this phone a few weeks ago; you might try updating before you try a new screen. My friend is on the Orange network and has v13.20 on his phone. Press *#0000# to bring up the firmware details..

  • @LE55ONS My phone is version 10.50, but when I tried to update it said it was the latest version. I tried to re-install but problem persisted. Then I returned the screen and got a new one. It solved the problem. Works perfectly now. Thanks a lot for the advice.

  • Thanks alot for this tutorial - you saved me a lot of time, money and possibly from breaking my phone in the process! I wouldn't have thought of doing this had it not been that I was quoted $150 by a company locally in Australia to do this. Being a techo I felt I was getting ripped so I came looking for you! Sadly for Australia instead of being fair and getting a $70-80 job they got nothing and the money goes to China who are more honest than us.

  • Sehr gut gemacht. 5 Sterne!

  • Nice 1 mate, but you made it look it easy haha ! Thumbs up!

  • great video thank you for sharing, used this guide to change my screen and all is fine..

  • Well done indeed. Any chance I can give you a ring if anything more scary happens? Seriously though, I am considering buying this phone as the newer phones are all starting to get a bit silly.

  • @feckingham Did you end up buying it? I'm looking at getting the Nokia C6,

I refuse to get the iPhone because I'd never get any work done!

Your welcome to message me with any questions.

    Thanks for watching...

  • Many many thanks!

  • Very helpful!!top job and thank you :).

  • You're a champ mate! You just saved me from buying a new phone. Cheers!!

  • @stretchtorana no mate, THEY'RE LEGENDS

  • This was really easy, following your instructions. Thanks!

  • Here's how to get the front faceplate off easily :

Once you get the two sections of the back plate out, and the four screws out, then you can remove the black plastic frame that these 4 screws were screwed into. Once you get this off then the clips for the frontplate are accessible and can be prised loose.

  • actually, is a T4 screwdriver

  • Excellent! Hardest part was taking the top part (the LED flash stayed inside the back which was handy). The rest was easy and very well explained. Used this to replace the keypad which was very worn. Thanks!

  • superb thankyou very much my freind 5 star guidance.. missin "an bobs yo mofo uncy hurby" lol

  • the T s screwdriver is to big to open the screws on my phone any ideas ?.

  • @slavehunter999 Nokia sometimes use different sizes, so take the phone to your local hardware store to find the right one

  • @slavehunter999 Thanks a lot for the manual. Very very helpful!!

  • my phone used the t4 screwdriver. excellent little tutorial

  • Thanks for saving me a fortune! Screen replaced for $20, saves me spending $300 on a new one!

  • The nokie 6700 is a vulnerable phone, mine has broken with the screen twice now, its a bummer to pay aswell (£50). Iv just ordered a cheap LCD screen of EBAY, hopefullt its okay. It comes with all the tools. Yar video looks very good, hope i can fix mine with your help, cheers

  • thannxxxx for the help... please keep it up...

  • Brilliant thankyou.

Yes it was tricky to get front facia off using finger nails, but with a little bit of patience all pays off ;)

  • освещение - ни в пизду ни в красную армию, а так - спасибо за видео =)

  • @belii076439 Это смешно, когда читает вы переводите на английском языке с использованием Google Translate

  • @LE55ONS смешно потому что русский жаргон =))

  • great vid!! peace of mind now.

  • Not as easy to take off the faceplate as you can do it but i got there in the end...thanks very much for the tutorial, very helpful!

  • @twowheelworld It only looks easy because I had already done it during a practice run. A few people have said its hard to get the front cap/faceplate off, but I can't think of an easier way to do it. There is another way, but it gets very involved trying to put a very small bit of plastic back that operates the volume control. So I've tried to keep it simple for everyone :-)

  • Hi LE55ONS, thanks for the very useful tutorial :)

Question: Is this corruption only true for nokia-produced screen? I mean after changing the screen, no cracking or displaying faults will appear?

    Sincerely,

  • @sminhle If the screen has only gone faulty after it was dropped then a new one should fix it...

  • @LE55ONS Agree, however my screen is sort of "internal" cracking - some sort of internal design flaw. I discover it perfectly ok physically, however the colours displayed is a mess and like a joke.

By the way, I found a techgear LCD for nokia 6700 on amazon, is that good enough?

  • @sminhle I can't comment on different makes of screen, I've only ever fitted this one which was Nokia.

From what you've described it does sound like a new screen might fix the problem. Let us know how you get on...

  • what can i do, because i destroyed the screws at the top and now cannot undo them?

  • @benjismit if you can get hold of the right size star drive, you might still be able to undo them

  • Good video. but my front cap is really hard to get off. i've unscrewed everything but it wont disassemble. any suggestions on what i can use to get it off and how i can do it???

  • @dlz0811 try running a plastic knife from one corner or your thumb nail, it will pop or click out. I think the thumb nail is the best choice as your less likely to damage the phone or hurt yourself

  • top banana, worked like a treat

  • ...Also

You can use the smallest flat edged 'watch -screwdriver' to undo the 'torque' T5x50 screw.

  • My 6700 screen went, my friend's also before-hand.

I found replacement screen for £6.95 (incl. post) on E-Bay.

With this video, I've saved £63.00.

My friend paid £70 to get his phone fixed local (Newcastle).
