  • Great guitarist and a really coool dude. I am in awe :-)

  • page never played same solo twice

  • this man is a LEGEND :D maybe it's too much to you, but he is to me :D

  • that was awesome

  • MULLET!!!!!

  • Credit to the guy for trying to come with something new.

If he'd played it note for note you'd have said he was ripping it off and should come up with something original.

  • Page would have been proud :) Awesome improv :)

  • I Get Taught Lessons By Nick, He Is Fucking Awesome!!!

  • Change the drum beat

  • it was a good solo but it really fell away from pages style at times. check out my cover of this

  • l originale è ineguagliabile..ogni imitazione fallisce miseramente!

  • ruined the song , thx whoever you people are

  • pretty awesome it's hard to take something original and awesome put in your on style and make it sound still good he did an awesome job

  • zle zagrane powinno sie zagrac dokladnie a nie popisy strzelac

  • Improvisation is everything and even more. This is great. I like the original better but this is great, too!

  • poser...

  • why??? is he a poser. cuz u prob sukk ass at playn an u have nuthn better to do, yea ur name is true but plp have there own style so stfu, i dnt see shit of u doin this so fukk off

  • wow. you really do make an intelligent argument dont you? learn how to spell. i could barely understand your idiot comment.

and fyi ive been playing for 11 years and could probably wipe the floor with you. I'm entitled to my opinion as you are, so there's no need to be a douche.

and if you want to see me playing guitar, click on my username and watch.

  • an yea u cant understand my typing bcuz ur prob an old hag an need to get with the fukkn new age bitch

  • dude, you saw my videos. youre a complete idiot. does it really look like im an old hag? really? and no, i can understand what your retard typing is trying to say but cant respect it worth a shit because you seem like an arrogant douche.

fine, talk big about your soloing. lets hear you play something. you called me out on my opinion. i respect jimmy page too much to see covers of him. i dont give a crap what you think of my playing, you seem like a very unintelligent tasteless kid.

  • the original standard version is better.

  • @Timmme07 yes very better

  • great 5/5

  • Why is everyone poo-pooing on this guy for deviating? Stairway to Heaven is such an overplayed song that it would have been cliche to follow the solo note for note. And for the record, go look up Zep's Stairway performance in "The Song Remains the Same", Page plays a completely different solo than from the recorded version of the song. Honestly, I hate it when fanboys treat their favorite band's music as infallible Gospel.

  • This is awesome. It's not the same as the original solo but i've never seen anyone play it just like Page. 5 stars.

  • Jesus Christ people. This man had the right idea! Page would have been happy with it. Why? Because he improvised the solo. Why on Earth does everything have to be exactly like the original when the original is always changing? If you were a true Zeppelin fan, you'd know that their music never stayed "original". It always evolved into something more. More licks in the solo's, more notes bent by the vocalist. Heavier drumming, more fills, more bass fills. Never stays the same :)

  • Dont you know that The Song Remains The Same? just kidding, i totally agree

  • @Anthaleus I am so glad he improvised! I hate hearing people who just play the recording!! If your going to play it Add your own twist!!! Like really!!!

  • @Anthaleus i always love when ideas come from ideas, u must know where im coming from this because y would u want to hear a cover, that sounds the same? i wanna hear what every guitarist has to bring to the table.

    this cover was legit.

  • @Anthaleus Your 100% right.

  • @Anthaleus Ahh yeh, although its nice to improvise (and it shows you have talent if you can) but somtimes its nice to hear the proper version. Bt that rule only sticks if the the guitar player knows how to improvise around the song and yet still make it sound GOOD, which is excactly what we see here :)

  • @Anthaleus Then what the hell with THESONG REMAINS THE SAME!

  • @Anthaleus dude thats deep as hell bro!awesome!

  • @Anthaleus That would be because the album solo is arguably the greatest solo ever played. Yes Page improvised and his live solos and they were terribly self indulgent. But, this guy aint Page...

  • @Anthaleus but the song remains the same!

  • As a solo of the song called "Stairway of Heaven - 3 stars. But as a improvisation it's arround 4 and 5. Very good : )

  • I loved it, I dont care what anybody says. Besides, Page improvised it live

  • i wouldve thrown a tomato. too many effects and nothing like the actual solo.

  • The thing I don't like about this guy is that he uses rack effects!!!! I've seen him live.. and yeah he's good......but his tone and over use of meaningless effects bothers me.

  • ive seen this band play live and they seriously kick ass, the singer isnt amazingly good but comon its hard to sound like robert plant and i dont understand why people are bitching about nick improvising this solo, jimmy page improvised pretty much every time he played this live but is any1 complaining about that? no. so you haters can just shut the fuck up, assholes

  • chill out guys. dont yell saying you dont like it and that it was nothing like zeppelin. he never said it was a cover ;) cmon guys.

    5 stars man

  • to much delay

  • Really kool i like the way this guy plays

  • Awesome this is sick as hell. I just uploaded my cover of this too. 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆ :):)

  • nothing to do with page didnt like it at all!!

  • the solo is good, BUT, the sound and the solo has nothing to do with Jimmy Page and Stairway To Heaven, so, please, re-title the video "my own solo" and I'll give you 5 stars, but for now, 3 stars, good bye

  • i liked it, he didn't overdo it

  • It is obvious this guy loves the music and that is OK.

  • This guy is great!

  • what the shtit is this isnt even close to stairway to heaven its just plain old shit dude!!

  • Only 4 stars ? Shit... this guy is good and his solo is awesome.

  • way off bro, not a zep cover band i hope or else i def not going to see yous

  • do not pagey like

  • too much fx and gain

  • tasteful, but not all that great or jimmy-like

  • O love this guitar so much

  • why is this rated only 4 stars? it takes time to learn an awesome solo like this, but its takes talent to make a wonderful improvisation.

  • I will agree that this guy is the best part of this band..

The singer on the other hand...sheesh

  • i like his improvisaton :-) it matches to the solo

  • same, i thought the improv was very tasteful

  • tastey*

  • kewl :)

  • intense

  • That guitar has got to heavy..

  • I have it and it really is haha

  • o-O guitar? SG?

  • Great cover. I've seen Whole Lotta Led a few times. Although Nick's sound is quite high gain, I think it a true enough respresentation. It still has the spirit of that epic solo.

Anyways, I bet Nick has played this solo thousands of times. Wouldn't it get boring if he just stuck to the studio solo?! I bet it would!!

  • Check out my cover of stairway to heaven!

Comment and rate while there ;)

  • improvising is great and I don't think I heard one out of line note. But a solo this great should be played as it is in the record. It's so great....but don't get me wrong here, you played great! And I can't play the solo yet, so it's better than me either way. Good video!

  • I have to disagree with ya, dude. I think Pagey would too as he NEVER played any of his solos the same way twice........Like Randy Rhodes for instance

  • your right, and they are both good live too. personally i just dont like this song improvised all that much, it's still great though, don't get me wrong

  • Or Clapton

  • Yeah I know what you mean. I think it's awesome when people try and improvise over this though, as long as they kinda stick with the studio solo and work around that.

  • yeah true, kinda what Nick Ferris did

  • if u improv stairway to heaven, u need to atleast use riff that page used

  • @cluch9 dude come on!

  • @cluch9 That's not what music is about.

Music is about expressing yourself not about copying someone else's Licks and solo's.

  • @lordakamai

this is a cover band, not a band COVERING a song

the point of a fucking cover band is to mimic the artists you are paying tribute to

  • @cluch9 You are badshit retarded and your view on music sucks balls :)

  • @lordakamai

yes, i have down syndrome... how could you tell?

  • @cluch9 Cause I live in your closet and I watch you sleep every night...

  • @cluch9 no one ever said it, not even Page

  • hell yeah doubleneck....love it

  • Believe me, I do understand and respect improvising. There is a time and place for it though. IF you are the original artist, in this case Jimmy Page, then most fans would love to hear what else you can do with your songs, but I would think fans going to see a tribute band would be expecting to hear what Jimmy played on the original recording, not some unknown guitarist's egotistical rendition.

  • i dont care if someone inprovises on a solo like this guy does. sometimes it turns out good and sometimes bad. in this case bad lol.if they changes the structure of the song or something to me thatd then be crossing the line and kinda violating the rules of making a cover.

but its all opinions i guess.. hehe

  • agreed.

  • at least SOMEONE agrees with me :D

  • This is a tribute band, I take it? Then why, even though mine is not yet perfect, can I play that solo so much better than this guy? I mean, good playing, but the second half of it was basically unrecognizable as STH.

  • lol you really dont get it, why should everyone play the solo like everyone else? hes playing it in a correct key so its not really wrong and he makes his own version of the solo to give the audience something more than what has been heard over and over again on the the radio

  • to much reverb i think

  • iv seen him play and met him, great guy n guitarist

  • why, i think its a great solo, but this guitar sucks, don´t u think i looks a bit stupid?

    --just my opinion...

  • the guitar is swesome same one kimmy paige uses but change the amp sounds horrible

  • too bad you cant play guitar anyway fucking retard

  • too bad i can play guitar and e-Bass ...i play a fender Telecaster

  • yea cuz all your videos prove that how do i kno if ur lying or not?

  • why do i have to prove it? does it matter? i just think that i don´t like that guitar... that´s all :-)

i think Les pauls are the best, don´t they look better than this one?

  • yea but this guitar is very cool too =p

  • The whole band is pretty on.

  • LOL are you dumb...... it says nick ferris so it is not the guitarist from led zeppelin (Jimmy Paige)

  • PAGE*.....Some people are just born stupid.

  • Comment removed

  • LOL....You guys are both idiots. It's definitly Page. There are people that are born stupid, then theres people like wittmann.......DOWNSYNDROM

  • that comment in itself is stupid people are born with down syndrome they dont just get it half way through life

  • ehh kida sucked

  • fuck all that! have any off you seen the new Foo Fighters DVD?Page had it and undoubtably WAS the one of the greatest guitarists ever, now he seems to have lost it which is a bit of a shame. Slash is a fantastic player and will remain to be I think....Anyway, stop arguing, Jimmy's a completely different decade of Music, it's impossible to compare!

  • i agree with the fact that the 2 guitarists have their own style. in my book stevie ray vaughn and van halen are up there too. Dime bag darrell is god like too. i dunno if i could really pick who I thought was the best though. there all epic

  • Yes, Slash is great, but he is no Page.

Page just kinda has this vibe when he's playing - its like he understands the notes for notes and not just a scale. Page can play the same pentatonic lick in like 28 different ways, you just never know what hes gonna do.

  • Slash tends to stay with the same scale in his solos too.But there both great, famous, succesful guitar playes.

  • Yeah never compare the 2

  • Page is God

  • I am only 13 years old, and i love Led-Zeppelin. And Slash isnt near as good as Page.

Teenager can also love old rock you know ;)

  • haha your so much like me

  • omg im 14 and have xactly the same oppinion

  • fuck you kiddo! They're both good in their own ways. Slash is fucking amazing and so is Page. It's true Page has been playing for longer and thats also because he was in a different era than Slash. Slash came out in the 80's and brought back the gritty old rock n roll guitar playing into the whole gay hair metal scene.

  • lol dude, i dindt say that slash sucks. i said that slash is nothing compared to Page. calm down

  • indeed, slash is way to much overrated.

  • nah hes not, ive tried to exlpain tis before but it came out wrong so i hope u understand. slash isnt really famous for his guitar playing hes famous for his image and people are like yeah slash is intense cos they havnt herd that many other guitarist its just cos slash is probs the most reconised guitar player since hendrix so altho he has alot more fans than his guitar playing is worthey he hasnt got those fans cos of his guitar playing, if u get me.

  • you can't compare two guitar compositors.they have diferent stiles.

  • here's one... joe satriani or steve vai?

  • buckethead or eric johnson

  • this guy isnt JP though

  • i think your right, since when does page have blonde hair? or for that matter playing the solo the way this guy is.

  • Someone please notice this video player... hahahaha

  • slash has never influenced page as his greatest influence...ever...ever...never... he has never said that. way more influenced by joe perry and humble pie. Alice cooper!

  • lets just face it jimmy page is better

  • ofcourse, only teenage fans who never heard zep think slash is better.

  • u got a very nice point there!i think its because slash represent an newer era where teenagers have no idea of what is called pure classic rock and where this came from.

  • yeah sad really, guess i'm lucky to be both a teenager and listen to music all the way back to delta blues, hell even classical. :P

i also play guitar and when i'm good enough i'm gonna start a band led zeppelin with calibre :D

  • Slash was completly inspired by Jimmy page, and lists Jimmy as the biggest influence in his life. Thus, he would be nothing without Jimmy. Even if you think they are really close or equal in talent, without Jimmy, slash wouldn't be anything. Thus, Jimmy is better.

  • Thats like saying that because Yngwie Malmsteen was influenced by ritchie blackmore that blackmore is better than mamlmsteen........ which is just not true

  • Right, but the influence by jimmy page on slash is so evident. Slash plays like jimmy page, great rifts, nice solos, he uses a similar guitar similar style of music, he is basically a jimmy page of the late 80s, doing noting really that amazing. Jimmy page did so much and was so talented all around. Slash never was a acoustic player, while jimmy had extradinary talent. Ok maybe if he was influnced that doesn't mean the influnece is better but page is way better overall.

  • Ya i wasnt on either side of the argument just saying :) but i totally agree with you

  • Slash is more influenced by Joe Perry than by Jimmy Page!

  • not completely.. ALso By Jeff BeckI read it in his book

  • im sorry but if you think jimmy page was slash's influence i have to disagree he doesnt play anything near page or even similar

  • i think he was inspired by him, and i think of paradise city as g'n'r stairway :P

  • average

  • What's this commetn all about! It's nicely played. It's not the Olpympic games of guitarhero's. There will always be someone who's better than another.

  • clapton is god!!! so is page....:-)

  • so true, so true. they're both guitar gods and my idols.

  • "zoso" is a much better lz cover band than these guys

  • Wow!

    Nice guitar!

  • that's awesome man!!

  • Search markmusicman, he does the solo better.

  • I GOT PENISBREAD!

  • theres a slight chance that he has more guitar skills than slash but slash wins because he has more soul and puts more feel into his playing

  • you are mad

  • possibly but i'll think you'll find theres plenty of people that share the same viewpoint

  • no, you're thinking of page, slash copied his look and style, and if you're looking for emotion, check out Eric Clapton, he puts tons of emotion in his playing. BTW, so does page, and don't thumbs down this dude, he's paying homage to one of the guitar greats. go play some guitar hero 3 or something GN'R fanboy.

  • But Slash plays on feeling alone seeing as he can't read music and has virtually no technical knowledge of music... And I play real guitar not guitar hero.

  • i play guitar too. but i'm tired of people thinking slash is better than page or clapton, and clapton lives on feeling from the guitar too, and you can actually see his face showing emotion while he plays a blistering solo.

  • woah i didn't say slash was better... i just didnt think it right that the other dude got thumbs down for his oppinion

  • oh, well, we all have our opinions don't we?

  • what really makes people like jimmy page and slash and angus young good was there ability to write solos, not just playing them because these days theres crazy guitarists that can play things much harder than what these guys could but it doesnt mean they could make there own stuff, But herman li is amazing

  • herman li???

    KILL URSELF

malmsteen will murdur herman anydar of the fuckin year!!!!!!!

herman is garbage!!!! its all effects

  • angus young didnt write his solos

  • yes he did, he used blues panatonic scales to do so, Malcolm even helped make them

  • yup studio trickery. he sucks defintly. plus dragonforce as a whole since every song sounds the same. and wow the lyrics "so far away... this and that" i could write a dragonforce song right now. "soo far away we fight a demon in the day. soo far away we were just fighiting a demon in the day the last line!"

a great guitar player if you ask me. ERIC JOHNSON! yngwie malmsteen is great and all... but idk. something about him lacks soul... still good though

  • ok...he did the solo wrong and he looks like brad whitford ein the beginning

  • that hair is as close to the 70s as possible! AAA+++

  • to be honest this solo is only good if you play it the same as the original, im all for improv and messing round but some solos cant be changed

  • Very true.

  • nice mullet

  • yea haha clapton is pretty good, hes definetly right up there with jimmy page.

mark knopfler is good too, but not like page or clapton

  • Where does Ritchie Blackmore (of Deep Purple and Rainbow fame)fit in there?
