  • How old are these girls? How long have they been training?

  • it is because she is mock punching. They do that until there older.

  • She has the SNR down pretty good

  • Music RUINS this bigger than shit.

  • who is mika.. the one with black or white?

  • this video proves sex does not matter in anything the amount of time and hard practice is all that matters.

  • oew that's hot ;p

  • people in the USA need to understand that the rest of the world is the rest of the world not americas views on how the rest of the world out side of the US should be. did the parents force the kids? and did the teacher force the kids. i guess guiding a childs mind to channel them selves. instead of letting them react out of fits of anger and hit to hurt.. what about wrestling? kids have broken bones and injured them selves but i guess that is ok same with skate boarding and many others sports .

  • both girls are really tough. the one in white obviously dominated, but the other one's chest took a pounding, and it didn't seem to faze her. she just got up and shook it off like nothing!

  • @Mocker825 The girl Mika competed against is from Riverside Submission. Riverside has a reputation for tough competitors. Mika had a lot more experience in this match and it showed. Mika has faced boys that quit under similar circumstances but this girl was too tough to even think about quitting.

  • Im pretty concerned about having children fight in these matches for example, How padded are those gloves they wear? Do the blows they take hurt them, leave bruises etc... i understand its safer than many other sports but ive seen kids getting hit very hard that they start crying, people call it barbaric but i have mixed feelings. How safe are their gear and how often do kids get injured from getting hit hard?

  • @schniteldelieveryboy. Two things;

    1. The girls compete in the sport of Pankration because they like it. It's not fighting and actually more popular in Europe than here in the US.

    2. It's a safer sport for girls than something like Cheerleading for example which is the number 1 cause of serious injuries in young girls.

  • @spartancs I think you miss a few points heres. Firstly: Is it their taste, or the taste the parent give away by "enculturation" and socialisation?

Look, I have nothing against child learning martial art, but this is full contact martial art were the goal is to have the opponent submit because he can't take the pain. This is quit an adult thing... On the other hand, hockey or football is not really better at the injury level but the emphasis should be put more on the artistic part at this age.

  • @therrydicule Thanks for the comment, I respect your opinion but disagree. My boys were involved in Traditional Martial Arts for yrs and got tired of it because it just wasn't for them. My daughter was never interested in TMA. When the boys started doing BJJ, Muay Thai & MMA she got excited about it & started training. She's been training every day for 3yrs now.

What she does is much safer than other common sports & this sport offers more in the way of psychological development, IMO.

  • @spartancs BJJ and Muay Thai are still traditional martial art ;) But I understand that not all martial art are for everyone - I have an aberration against tai chi and there is no reason ;)

My kind of martial art will be more something like Capoeira but I been advised not to take any for medical purpose - one car crash leave me with some minor impairment ; my doctor say Hapkido and even ballet dancing are o.k for me (seem stupid for me)... Anyway, maybe you should bring them to some show ;)

  • @therrydicule I agree 100%. I think half these kids would be burned out by the time they peak, mature physically. At this age, kids could work on boxing (not full contact), practice kicks, grapple, and do conditioning. But transition to full contact if they want as teens. I have to question parents who watch their kids take a beating. This doesnt do anything for the kids. Mind you I love MMA. I have fought full contact. But these are 10 year olds. It's just wrong.

  • @BushidoCode72 This is what I fear, it's quit easy to burn out the body at young age...

However, I receive good news from a specialist: my spinal cord on the lower back is in good enough shape to try any martial art, even mma, since it is only some major bulging without any "blowout" and it lose enough inflammation for it. However, I don't have the time anymore and I been recommended to take it easy - however, ballet been ban on the list of possible physical activities... WT?

  • No face hits.. Good job those girl do't have boobies yet.

Nice to see girls taking part in MMA aswell are boys. Stops the generation from staying in and playing computer games.

  • who the f won

  • oh i seen that girl before at a pankration i went too

    she is really good

  • Were are these held?

  • no face hit suck,,,,man put these girls some helmet on and let them go at it

  • @pfatpat32 There are some events that use those rules but the headgear compromises the submission grappling so it's a trade off.

  • Is the girl in the white t-shirt Gina Carano ?

  • This girl did a great job, I'm impressed.

Full mount the whole, had complete control of the fight.

  • great video !!!!!!!!!! we are supporters of kids MMA

  • I Think this is the best idea i ever seen... The kids aren't made for that sports, they have to play with toys or something like this... But if they really want to do it, only without strikes directly to the face... Cos the bones of that kid aren't hard yet, so they can broke them easilly...

  • i wish this was around when i was younger! I wrestled with all the boys for 4 years and played football, but connecticut had no mma thing, especially when i was 6-9, i'm not that old im 19 lol but yeah this would have been awesome i just kickbox now

  • no face hits?!?!?!!

  • No strikes above the collarbone in this sport. Pankration is a FILA sanctioned sport practiced worldwide. Some promotions in the US may allow strikes to the head depending on state regulations.

  • @spartancs if they allowed that i think she would have won the first 15 seconds

  • Nice video , I like this art of defens Sport . For Kids it is better than Karate , Judo or Wrestling I mean. I wish my Kid could learn this in my town :(

  • my daughter loves this video, u should check her video out on my page

  • @danielchoman

Your video is great & I love the soundtrack. You don't get to pick the sports your kids will like. It's clear that your daughter is having a great time with her family.

  • I hear you on the picking sports thing, unfortunately she's in middle school now & the school team won't work out for her.

  • Yeah, she won't be taking no crap off the school smart ass, and good for her.

BTW, my boys love this video!

  • @zndrqq

Thx man. She's an honor student & she's never had a problem at school with fighting. Came close a couple of times when she was sticking up for kids who were being picked on.

  • isnt this abit brutal, i mean no leg pads?

  • No strikes above the collarbone. Shin pads are optional, not very many kids wear them, especially the kids who excell at bjj & submission grappling.

  • welll, personally i think your daughter is very good :) yea fighting is bad but its a sport and atleast when shes older and going out with friends mum and dad wont be stressing as much beacuse they kno she can protect herself from boys/girls im new to this kind of stuff new years resolution is to train hard and start mma im 16 may be abit late but i like the sport all the best to your family and hope your daughter keeps doing this sport :)

    tom

  • very good ccompetition!.kids are tuff!:) they should keep up the training theres nothing wrong with it!my son is training since he was 3 years old.and hes a very calm kid not aggressiv at all or anything like it.he understand it as a sport and honour is very important to him

  • Nice to see someone who understands the sport. Best of luck to you and your son.

    -Cheers

  • I saw this match live. Both can be pro athletes if they choose to be.

  • lolololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololol the music did not go wit this wy would u post a 8 year old cat fight on youtube

  • Sorry if the music offended your choreographic sensibilities, my daughter likes the song. Pankration is a sport that she competes in, it's not a fight Pillsbury.

  • i dont think kids should be able to fight untill they are 18, fighting is bad. Training for fitness is understandable, but why would you let your kid fight another kid, it makes me sick.

  • I don't think kids should fight even when they reach age 18. When people fight they are trying to injure each other. These kids are competing in a sport that is safe and they are not trying to injure each other - not fighting.

Maybe you would feel better if my daughter was cheerleading - the leading cause of serious injury for girls.

She likes this so I support her because it's safe and she learns valuable skills.

  • not until 18???

    whats wrong with fighting..

  • The poster I was responding to felt like kids shouldn't compete in this sport and that it was actually fighting.

I was pointing out that it's not fighting and it's a safe sport for kids.

  • she is very good

  • thats bad ass i cant wait tell i put my lil girl in it. woo woo she kicked ass go mika

  • This is a GREAT sport for girls! I'm a little leery about the punching at that age, but all kids, not just girls, need to learn how to defend themselves, if needed. I can't wait for my 4-year-old daughter to start training! Oh, and ladies/moms, don't worry about your lil girl getting butchy. I trained as well, got good and stayed feminine. It's empowering. I highly recommend for women!

  • hmm, competing MMA at this age just seems wrong, especially girls, at this age, I think there should be a 13+ age limit even if pankration

  • I'm curious about why you feel that way?

  • There just little children... thats Why I think this

  • So little children shouldn't compete in sports?

My daughter tried ballet and gymnastics, but didn't enjoy either ( both of those activities have more injury risk than what she does now BTW). Her brothers do this and she loves it.

If this was the only sport your daughter enjoyed would you tell her she couldn't do it? As long as you were satisfied that it was safe and it was having a positive impact on her development I would hope that you would support her.

  • I not arguing with you, and we both know the other sports are a different sort of injury that could occur, And yes If I had a daughter and this was what she wanted to do, By all means she would be able to train MMA, but not to compete it, Like by all means if your the parent its your decesion, fair enough, Id be happy for my child to compete in BJJ and train in MMA but fight, Id prefer not.

  • Fair enough man. After thinking about injury risk I came to the conclusion that the joint locks and big throws were the riskiest elements of amateur mma. Young kids just can't hit that hard.

I respect your point of view, I can tell you though that it has been great for my girl & she has made a lot of friends as well.

  • these girls are tougher than me! I train in pankration but would never compete. I do it for the grappling.

  • wtf is this body shots only?

  • They are competing under Pankration rules which do not allow any strikes above the collarbone.

  • Mika's tough as nails. I know from experience! Hope you're training hard.

  • haha, thanks Kai!

Hope to see you at a tournament soon. I hope we are not in the same division this time..jk

    -Mika

  • mika goin 2 be a beast when she like 12

  • Man I wish my joints still worked like a kids, I'd kick ass, lol

  • Ive been doin this for a while too and this was a great fight she is gonna be good when she gets older

  • Thanks for sharing. She looks very talented. Loved the credit at the end to her opponent.

  • what a great fight! you should check out isaac samano he also is a great little fighter

  • I checked out his match and you are right he's a warrior. I think amateur mma with the right training mentality and competition rules is an outstanding sport for kids.

  • what is this jiu jitsu ?

  • It's called "Pankration" and you can learn more about it on the league website at fightleague. o r g I would encourage you to take a look at the rules which define the contests.

It is probably most easily described as Submission Grappling with strikes allowed below the collarbone. I think the majority of the matches end with Jiu Jitsu submissions or a win by points.
