My Dad got my Mom a Duster back in 70-71, /6 with a 3 speed, dealer installed AC...and out the door was around 2000$. Mom hated the manual steering! Didn't even have carpet, just plastic covering. Have prices climbed for cars or what?? Sister drove that /6 for no telling how many years, she abused it...and it just kept running.
lmao the guy was like do u see anything coming out of the back like the exhaust??? and the other dude was like ohh just smoke no biggie haha yeah blue smoke equals bad valve seals or many other problems but it was not to bad and the car looks sick man good job on the work
does anybody know where to buy parts for a dodge demon? my dad has had a 72 demon longer than i've been around and it is in bad need of restoration. i'd hate to see it rot away
So if you have a limited economy and can't afford the bigger models, why not choose one of those i mention, they might be much cheaper as they are not very sought after as the bigger models, and they have, when got the 340 as the engine, an performance that is quite similar to the BB engines a bit, y, not as high as a Hemi, but comes close a little bit,and is easier to tune, so you can keep up with most BBs at a certain point, and they might not be as expensive to tune as the BB V8s, so to say:)
In my opinion, the Plymouth Duster, the Dodge Demon, Dart Sport and the other Chrysler, Plymouth and Dodge models, are perfect muscle cars for those who cannot afford BigBlock cars like 'Cuda, Charger, Challenger, RoadRunner and the other cars.
Quite cheap if you compare with those i mentioned, low weight compared to the bigger models, easy-to-tune V8s(if you know how to do it properly), cool styling, good cornering compared to BB cars and good performance at quite close levels, great cars :)
So, it's also a good start if you're new to muscle cars as well.
Don't start with BB(BigBlock)-equipped muscle cars as a starting muscle car, get experiance with smaller and cheaper models so you know how to handle cars like that, and when you've have tried some smaller models, go a step further, like buying a Plymouth Fury with a 383 BB V8,(example),they have BB V8s but is not as expensive as most other,or take another one,but don't start with something to big, this is dedicated to beginners
Final Note: If i would buy a Dodge Demon, it would look like the one i got as a picture on my page, orange with black dekals and vinyl roof, black interior e.t.c.
Thats nonsence, the 340 spun to 6000 from the show room floor. A fresh one with a strong rotating assembly will spin 8000 easy. As long as she can flow the gasses!
think if Chrysler would have made HEMI-heads for the 340, with either 3x2 carbs (Six Pack carburator) or 2x4 Barrel Carburators, like 450 cfm each, or at least with hemi-heads and a SixPack carb. It might have become the best Smallblock-engine from the 60s ever(though it's not bad, just think how good it could become if they did heads like that to the 340)
That stock 340 had run to 6,500 RPM or more on many, many race days without any problems. The stock setup in 1971 made its peak power at that speed. She just gave up to a loose rod bolt on this day.
We're from the Phoenix area. We race some of our cars on Friday nights during the summer at Firebird Raceway. Between myself and my family, we bring out a Crossfire SRT-6, a tweaked Dakota Sport, a '63 Dart race car, this '72 Demon, a '76 Dart, a '69 Barracuda, a '71 454 'Vette, and a turbo Miata.
if i didint have my head up my ass!. lol i would have seen the copper plates! cool we are in tucson! we hitt SIR all the time and have fun! Hay stay cool! its like 110 out ther! its 104 in tucson today ( 7-6-08 )

Ouch-nice demon, a little oil smoke, maybe too much crankcase pressure? Hopefully compression is OK. A little TLC will fix her right up. Nice ride.

The most beautifull smallblock engine must be the 340 SixPack, it looks so beautifull, and brutal.
Great Great car and video man :)

Oh... I never run my 340 Dart at those rpm's just out of fear of blowing it up XD Yours did have an orgasmic sound before it blew though...
