I didn't know that, did I? And I was making a general comment/joke about ALL the rc airwolf videos, some of which were done by obviously veteran pilots. And it's entirely possible that most of these just aren't capable of a hammerhead stall. One of the pilots in one of these vids said that his couldn't do 3d...which would be a hammerhead stall. And considering the amount of money you put into it, I certainly wouldn't blame you for never trying it, no matter what your experiance level as a pilot.
Turns out that the retracts were not working correctly in this video and - in fact - the wheels DO fully retract into the fuselage. I also have the rocket launcher on the bottom working now with some wicked pyrotechnics! I'm hoping to do a new video soon.
This IS a Vario, it's just not the bigger one that is made for the turbine engine. Being as how it's not as big there is also plenty of power which - I've heard - is something that can be in issue on the big Vario. I'm 100% satisfied with this bird! I'm not a stickler for the interior detailing and this model is finished. I like my models to FLY!
I don't think there's any way to get the PH3 into a 600 size fuselage but I could be wrong. The Vario fuselage is larger than a 600 size. Even on the Vario we had to make several mods, including a completely custom exhaust from stainless steel that cost $1500 to have made.
Corey..... That is an Epic bird, would be interested in hearing the gear you put into it and the length of time on the build. Any type of problems you encountered during the build Beautiful Heli
The heli is larger than a 600 series, just over 70" in length and weighs 26 pounds. The blades are 810mm. The project was a custom build because this Vario kit was not meant for a turbine (there is a larger Vario kit that IS meant for a turbine but I wanted this smaller version so it would fit in my car!). The entire project, including a dedicated Futaba 14MZ radio cost just under $20,000.
Beatifull Model, bice work, no idea how the gun retract system has been done, how long did it take to build the heli? I just think the heli seems a bit heavy on the tail, or am i wrong? Anyway very very nice heli.
The gun retract system is a stock Vario product you can purchase. It works off a little air cannister that you need to replenish with a hand pump after about 5 times activating it. There is also a 3 chamber rocket launcher on the bottom of the heli that will fire any .22 caliber type cartridge. I haven't used it yet but plan to fire pyrotechnic gerb sparks from it.
The "tail heavy" thing is because this was the first flight and I've only been flying for 3 years! I'm working on it!
Just seeing that elevator arm....if thats what its called? moving out with that motorized action and the little gun barrel sticking out was just wow!!!! nice man
Awesome

I love it. Although I still think it would of been cooler if the wheels were more hidden.

I'm sure for $20k, you could have gotten the vario... but as you say, you wanted a smaller one to fit in your car.
is this finished now or there's more detailing to be done?

Corey could that PH3 engine be mounted in a 600 series heli? What mods would I need to make it work?
