I dont know why, but this songs makes me remember the person I was in love for a long time and until today I did not get over it, I cry everytime I hear this song because I want to remember her even knowing that I wont have her.
@sproutyDP Try to focus on the Pink Floyd albums instead of the Roger Waters Band albums then. You'll find a full range of emotions and can skip past the sad songs if you wish - which is nearly impossible to do with any album where Waters has the lead.
The part where he says hold on to the dream and then his words morph into the Saxophone, is awesome. I put that up there with the guitar climax in Echoes, or the fishbowls line in Wish you were here...
@nickster6661 ,,,,THIS WAS ROGER WATERS "FIRST SOLO ALBUM"....WAS THOUGHT AT THAT TIME,,,I THINK IT IS....THE SONGS AND THE CONCEPT OF THE ALBUM,,,,!!
@ericjurado6 Yes, the rest of the guys had very little input to it, and I think Rick Wright wasn't even in the band at the time. While this album is awesome, I think the rest of the guys can reel Roger in and make his concepts and lyrics more melodical. Where his straight solo stuff lost some of that. Bottom line, they needed each other.
@pooptypants1 Are you shitting me?? Syd brought the inspiration to the band. If it weren't for Syd, they wouldn't have had anymore albums after he left. At Syd's funeral, they said "The music we played after Syd's departure from the band is just complete rubish compared to the music that Syd brought to the band." Syd was the heart and soul of Pink Floyd...he is always truely missed.
@avenged4life100 oh, were you at the funeral? Every funeral I've ever been to( and I've been to quite of few since I do military funerals for a living) the person who died gets made out to be a saint by everyone who knew them. Its just a kind thing to do. Yea, he started it all, I'll give him credit for that, but his songs are insanely retarded.
I do not understand because in the 04:00 minute, a man with a garment that says chief argie and steals a ball ... treat us thieves?. we claim what is in our territory
This is amongst Pink Floyds best albums both musically and lyrically. It exemplifies everything great that is Pink Floyd...with moments of the most sensitive tenderness coupled with excellent musicianship that is not flashy or pretentious. I love this album with all my heart and consider it "The Final Cut" that Pink Floyd would ever make. Since Water's departure, Floyd was still a great band and did many great things, but they were never the same Floyd...and this was their "Final Cut".
The explosions killed eleven military personnel: four soldiers of the Blues & Royals and seven military bandsmen of the Royal Green Jackets . Seven of the regiment's horses also died in the attack
The Hyde Park and Regent's Park bombings occurred on 20 July 1982 in London, England. Members of the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) detonated two bombs during British military ceremonies in Hyde Park and Regent's Park
The best solution to The Wall. I have to say, personally, this is my favorite album. I love all Floyd, but this speaks clearly. It just meets me where it's supposed to.
a place to stay enough to eat somewhere old heroes shuffle safely down the street, where you can speak out loud about your doubts and fears,,, and whats more no-one ever disappears you never hear their standard issue kicking in your door! and everyone has recourse to the law, and no-one kills the children anymore. DAMN IT WORLD CANT WE ALL JUST THINK LIKE THIS WOULD IT BE SO HARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Final Cut, one of my fav Pink Floyd albums. Can never decide which I like best though, cause I love SOOOO many of their songs in SOOOO many different albums.
I got it! This is not the England I remember after the 80's. As if it got all screwed up and Churchill's post war dream was screwed up. And Thatcher looked looney to everyone in the UK. The only thing that made everyone happy was the was in the Falklands.
@secutorclaudius bandsmen getting blown up - I believe it was reference to IRA attack on UK forces band in London, very early 80's I think, 82 at most??
One of my favorite albums. just brilliant. Watched Roger perform The Wall in Manchester two weeks ago and words can't describe it. Imagine if he toured 'The Final Cut'. I can dream.
"Everyone has recourse to the Lord. And no-one kills the children anymore." One of my favourite albums of all time, if not my favourite. I love this song so, so much.
I don't know what my life would have been if I had not have stumbled across this cassette at a K-Mart when i was 13. I wore through five cassettes and 3 albums
I remeber 1983 when I listened this one for the first time, I said - "what a DOWNER!". After I listened to it 3 or 4 times I said - "what a sweet, amazing DOWNER! Waters is a mad man".
Superb. In many ways The Final Cut is my favourite Pink Floyd album - possibly album full stop. Having grown up under Thatcher's war-mongering this was a breath of fresh air.

its so perfectly made, the album alone without the music is a truly masterpiece but combined with the video EP is so harmonic. And so honest.... and (sadly) so true.
I love that they use that rat-bastard teacher from the wall and place him in a roll that demands understanding where he came from. It takes The Wall to another level. This, my friends, is the genius of Roger Waters.
