Are scooters considered "Dorky" in Europe? Particularly I want to know in Britain & Germany? Here in America, the perception is that only broke young college students and dorks in general ride scooters and this ignorant attitude is shown in various ways here such as being cut off in traffic, verbally assaulted with smart-ass remarks about our scooters!!

@majorghn I live in Holland and if you want to ride a car you have to be 18 but you're allowed to drive a scooter when you're 16 so if you're sixteen and have a nice vespa it's NOT dorky :)

The Vespa is for wealthy arrogent little preps wanting a fashion statement rather than a scooter. These Vespa's are WAYYYY overpriced. With the 50cc vespa you could buy a 250cc motorcycle. With the 250cc Vespa you could buy a NICE used car or a really nice brand new Honda shadow 750cc motorcycle. My 50cc yamaha C3 is liquid cooled anf fuel injected goes 45mph all for 2,100 dollars.

A vehicle is the sum of it's parts so if you were to take care of both machines they would last around the same amount of time. Maybe except the chinese ones. Both scoots are very well made. Anything European is expensive.....somebody has to pay for their free medical benefits...lol.
I own a 2007 Suzuki Burgman 400, if I were still in college, 20 years younger, and had the greenies back then, I would have probably bought a Vespa.
Don't forget about the SYM scooters, very high quality and come with the longest bumber-to bumper warranty of any scooter....2 full years.
