This is a wonderful video. It's so liberating to see that anyone, even adults can enjoy the beauty, poise, and grace of ballet. I took ballet for years as a child and for a few years as an adult before an auto accident left me with serious head, neck and back injuries. But I still enjoy it just for the aesthetic movements. Thank you for sharing this. It doesn't matter where one is - you do not have to go to Moscow although I would love to go :)
Finally, a school where adults actually learn decent ballet. I used to train professionally as a teen but had to cut down when I entered university. I'm used to training that follows a syllabus and puts an emphasis on style and, yeah, decent technique... Now the only classes I can find are for schoolkids or for adults with no ambitions whatsoever. No one cares about improvement there, since those take place once a week and it's always the very same steps. This class looks great!!
where and how did you find a class that taught adult pointe? im from the metropolitan area (specifically maryland) and I cant find any that will teach me how to dance pointe
im 23!! and i started ballet 3 years agoo!! i just got en pointe 4 months ago and took my ballet exam last week!! anyone can dance ballet!! you just gotta be brave and try! I LOVE THIS VIDEOOO!! the class looks sooooo funnnnn... =DD
I started ballet about a year ago (as an adult in my 30s) and I've been feeling kind of discouraged lately because I'm not progressing as fast as I wanted. This video, however, really inspires me to keep working hard.
It looks like they have been working hard for many years....it's so inspiring. They are all such beautiful dancers. They carry their heads beautifully. They have obviously had excellent training. I love it!
@kopyteju I am twenty-years-old, and I have wanted to learn ballet ever since I was little. But due to financial circumstances and a lack of time (due to academics), I have not had the chance to learn. A lot of times I feel like it's too late for me to learn, especially if I want to be really exceptional on pointe. But when I see videos like this, and read comments like the one you posted, it really gives me hope that maybe I can still achieve a part of my childhood dream.
@heartsdeprived I sarted when I was 21, now a year later I am starting pointe! It is never to late to start! The only thing you will regret is never trying!
Hi, the music is The Barcarolle from The Tales of Hoffmann (Les contes d'Hoffmann) it is an opera by Jacques Offenbach. The vocal version is below, lots on youtube

This is so gorgeous. I had to stop watching because I came so close to crying! Giving up ballet was the hardest thing I've ever had to go through.

I don't know about first grade students, but Vaganova second grades do pointe work already.

Just found this video: qzLYmGwWF5A
So yes, they go on pointe from the start (although I believe those girls did take ballet classes before entering Vaganova).

The ballet is our greatest dream of beauty!
It is immortal in the music and in the beauty of bodies in movement!
Ilya, both your sense of humor and your talent as a filmmaker are commendable!
Please, convey my congratulations to your wife and to all the students.
And thanks to everyone for the wonderful opportunity to attend this class!

Those plastic protections are genius! This make me nostalgic.
I used someprotections made out of sponge when I was doing pointes over 15 years ago.
Great video! Thanks for sharing :-)
