I'm a Christian who believes in the use of cannabis and psychedelics, but this guy is a bit too wacked out for my taste. Hey, there's no limit or set definition to how you can worship Jesus, true, and this guy is doing some actually really good stuff in terms of missionary work and spreading the faith.
But the whole "getting high off Jesus" ... come on. The way that one guy was describing getting high on Jesus as opposed to weed made me facepalm. And the worrying part is it turning into a cult.
@TheOneartist Watching this video to the end, though, I have to say I can definitely see where this guy is coming from and I do agree with a lot of what he says. After all, who am I to judge? I hate it when people judge others. It's good to see someone breaking out of the norm. I'm a hippie after all. To deceive people to the degree that he is doing will bring damnation upon him, because the Holy Spirit is not to be messed with. This kind of teaching and preaching, if you want to call it that, seems to be a gimmick to try and draw the strongest of unbelievers to God without using the written Word of God or the Living Word of God. @blkedwashedazn This is where people take one verse and run wildly into error. Peter CLARIFIED what the people were seeing in verses 15-18: dreams/visions/prophesying. They were not falling all over each other, laughing, speaking incoherently, incapacitated, etc. They were all speaking and the hearers all heard their OWN languages---from those of a different culture/language! Some saw the miraculous in that, some mocked the miraculous, saying they were "drunk".
@cynthiasta actually i believe the original hebrew script would override the KJV. and before you say that KJV is the closest english version, you should first know that KJV went from hebrew-greek-?-latin-then finally englist. Nowadays there are straight translations from the original script.
@bigboyburnsy well i dont believe i would single out any particular version...when you say "best" if you mean as close to the original as possible then i would suggest some of the hebrew-english translations...but just because some things are rephrased or put in a different way doesnt mean they arent valid? i believe the NIV, KJV, ESV, ect...are all still good...some people need things to be explained in a different way.
@etherfreak Stay clear from the NIV, i did some research and discovered that alot of verses are changed or removed, if you would like the full list of verses removed and/or changed let me know i can share them with you or you can look them up for yourself, your choice. I currently read the KJV and am really enjoying it. Also i think the NJB (New Jerusalem Bible) is better than KJV as it contains the apocrypha books which contains a messianic prophecy in it.

@etherfreak Oh of course i wouldn't bash someone for reading the NIV, the NIV is the bible i first used that lead me to seek Christ. This is how i feel about it, if someone is skeptical about how genuine God's word is and misses those important verses or a new believer is reading the NIV and misses out on those verses then it could be critical to their faith. But whats amazing is how God's word speaks for itself, "seek and you shall find" truth cannot be changed.

@lastblast7 I am aware of the "Kundalini" videos. It really comes down to how believers view the work of the Holy Spirit. Read I Cor 12 in the NASB. I believe Paul is giving latitude here to the work of the Holy Spirit. The books of Acts supports this view. I was taught a conservative view of the Holy Spirit and therefore might agree with you if I hadnt experienced some things that blew the lid wide open, which by the way brought the exact fruit listed in your post.

I think you are the one picking and choosing scriptures to suit your own bias. There is no discernment in the law, but only in living according to the Spirit. Personally, I think a person has to be a complete spiritual blockhead (no offense intended, really) to not see Crowder's heart. This man only wants believers to realize their union with Christ. This kind of teaching and preaching, if you want to call it that, seems to be a gimmick to try and draw the strongest of unbelievers to God without using the written Word of God or the Living Word of God. They were not falling all over each other, laughing, speaking incoherently, incapacitated, etc. They were all speaking and the hearers all heard their OWN languages---from those of a different culture/language! Some saw the miraculous in that, some mocked the miraculous, saying they were "drunk".

I currently read the KJV and am really enjoying it. Also i think the NJB (New Jerusalem Bible) is better than KJV as it contains the apocrypha books which contains a messianic prophecy in it.

This is how i feel about it, if someone is skeptical about how genuine God's word is and misses those important verses or a new believer is reading the NIV and misses out on those verses then it could be critical to their faith. Hebrews 12:2- looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the JOY that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (I'm sure Jesus was laughing the whole time during His trip to Calvary.) give me a break! John Crowder loves provocation and demonstration, and most of these videos capture only glimpses of who the guy really is. @denoinwa Does John Crowder preach a message of REPENTANCE, not from "religiousness", but from other sins of the flesh that will cause people to NOT inherit the kingdom of God (I Cor. 6:9-11)? John uses drug lingo and drug taking actions to illustrate being filled with the Spirit (which is not drunkenness/falling down/being UNsober). Why? He does this to entice people to join him and his movement. If he were to quote only scripture, would he entice the SAME type of people?

@lastblast7 I am aware of the "Kundalini" videos. It really comes down to how believers view the work of the Holy Spirit. Read I Cor 12 in the NASB. I believe Paul is giving latitude here to the work of the Holy Spirit. The books of Acts supports this view. I was taught a conservative view of the Holy Spirit and therefore might agree with you if I hadnt experienced some things that blew the lid wide open, which by the way brought the exact fruit listed in your post.

I think you are the one picking and choosing scriptures to suit your own bias. There is no discernment in the law, but only in living according to the Spirit. Personally, I think a person has to be a complete spiritual blockhead (no offense intended, really) to not see Crowder's heart. This man only wants believers to realize their union with Christ. That's it. God looks at the heart, and I dont believe He is in any way whatsoever offended. God sent His Son to free us from lawyering life.

With which Christ? Jesus Christ according to the Bible never told us to get "drunk with the Spirit".
Drunkenness isn't a characteristic of the Holy Spirit, but self-control is. This whole "tokin' the ghost" stuff is as much as a fairy-tale as the prosperity "gospel" and other weird stuff.

So far in all the videos I have watched on John Crowder, the Word of God is hardly ever mentioned and then almost every time he does, he misquotes the scripture out of context. I foolowed the propserity preachers for the first ten years of my Christian walk adn now after having studied apologetics, hermeneutics adn all that, they teach a lot fo things unsupported by scripture

This is the scriptural definition of blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, and the consequences are dire.
