It was going to be on The Crow soundtrack, but got bumped for The Cure's "Burn" track, which is a pretty amazing song in and of itself.

It was released on limited edition 7" vinyl by Sub-Pop, god, what seems to be 10 years ago now... May have been re-released since then.

I forget what the "B" side of that record was, but it was another rare/unreleased track.

think of it like this. punk today is not what punk was when it first came into existence. would you say the new york dolls and green day sound the same? yet you ask a kid from the seventies what punk is and a kid from the ninties what punk is and you'll get different answers. its the same with emo. its not the same as when it started.

diary is melodic hardcore(i think) and grunge but not primaly 'punk rock'.

and they only really were emo on diary,after that they were plain alternative rock.

sdre's sound gradually went from grunge to dream rock(?),by the time 'the rising tide' came out.
