The recognition of how this country was founded isn't lost. As someone born and raised in New Jersey, I never did get to learn all that much about the Civil War in my schooling, but I did go to school in the war-born state of West Virginia, and will soon move to Texas, and I'll say this much.

Just as 6 of my ancestors fought for the CSA, 8 of them fought in the Revolutionary War. I guess the point is that there is a lot of ignorance out there, and that it affects people's perceptions greatly, which is a sad thing indeed.

The recognition of how this country was founded isn't lost. There have always been disputes on how America is run, and whether it is effective, but it doesn't mean that the root of what it is, is wrong.

This song is not about slavery or racism and neither was the civil war. It was an issue of state's rights, although slavery was a human rights nightmare, the union was technically violating the constitutional construction of states' rights, in which the southern states voted to keep slavery, because the economy of the south depended on it. Perhaps the union should have given the south 20 years to re-tool the economy instead of violating their rights and invading sovereign states.

Before we calling names, refer to A Study of Slavery in New Jersey written by Henry Cooley, you can read right. New Jersey had 113, 000 servants for life at the beginning of the Civil War. During the 1860 census to avoid paying taxes on property many slaves were not listed in the South or North, which leads to inaccurate records. So I retract my statement due to political correctness, New Jersey had no slaves just servants for life.
