I have the exact same TV just in LCD and it's the sam screen just with LCD so it's not as flat as his! it's a 6 series even it's a 7000..... the 7 series is aluminium frame! ;)

If I was on the market for a TV I'd consider this one or similar in LED. The 3d stuff should knock down the prices of previously enjoyed versions in the new year. Boxing day might be a good time to consider.
Opinions - I'm looking at an LCD model with 120hz, the 610, OR a base model LED with 60 HZ. What makes the bigger difference in picture quality, the faster refresh rate LCD or the better contrast of the LED. They're both the same price.

@brooklyncellblock It's rubbish, Samsung and all the other brands test their TVs in very special conditions (completely dark room for instance), then there is what they call the dynamic contrast which is rubbish, the real contrast is the static one, the one the TV is actually achieving at any given time, to measure it you need special equipement, to give you some figures, a Samsung 7 series has a contrast ratio (static one= real one) of about 3300:1.
@countersk they are all LCD's, but some of them use LED illumination and the older one CCFL illumination. of course the LED is a bit better than CCFL, but the matrix technology is the same, in Samsung's case they use S-PVA matrix. the matrix is important in all LCD's.

man to tell you the truth this flat tvs suck ass when it come to how long they last, i bought a samsung LCD and my dad bought a plasma panasonic, my little brother has does old tvs on his room RCA 25", well my dads PLASMA broke in about 1 year,My LED tv broke in about 1 year and 5 months, and the tv that my brother has is still working like new! and he has had that tv for about 8 or 9 YEARS!!! this tvs are BS when it comes to the duration.
Also the 1080P look stunning when read from super fast HDD over optical blu ray on my Sony 40W4000. When my 40W4000 plays HD 1080P, there is no problem with motion at 30FPS or 24FPS. The bandwith is smoother & crisper. Plus the movies look stunning. I can see vertical lines down your TV, don't know if that's the lower Scanning resolution of your camera, but I can see it.
I've used my WIFI N router download HD 1080P content from Sony Playstation network to buy or rent movies to PS3. They took around 1 hour half to download to my PS3 for £3.70 & that's to rent HD movie for 14 days, way better & cheaper than getting off your armchair to go to local rental store.
Great looking TV. I have a Samsung Plasma 40" and it's been nothing but perfect. Definitely sticking w/ the South Koreans again. Plan on grabbing an LED too in the next few months for my bedroom.

the only way you can compare contrast ratios is from brand to brand for example samsung to samsung because there is no standard or set way to determine contrast ratios so every different manufacturer measures them differently so you cant compare the contrast ratio between something like sony to samsung, contrast ratios are almost pointless when shopping for TVs unless you are comparing two TVs of the same brand
@Kostas1601 it is just a more widescreen image.... it's not because of quality... if you want to get rid of them, you can use the classic media player, it allows to stretch the image to fit your desktop resolution...
another thing you can do is actually chasnge your desktop resolution to a more widescreen style

Please don't promote Samsung. It is not a good product and worst Samsung will not stand by their product. The products are notorious of breaking down as soon as the warranty expires. I have a 22 year old Sony that looks brand new. I have yet to own a Samsung TV over 3 years without it breaking down.
My samsung tv just out of the one year warranty started CLICKING on and off before it would turn on. Each day it took longer for it to turn on. Now it won't come on at all. Samsung customer service was no help because it was out of warranty. I will never buy samsung again.
I told the Samsung Customer Rep that I would never buy a Samsung product ever again. She told me to have a nice day. She was not even concerned. If i worked for a company I'd want that company to keep customers and stay in business so I can keep a job. But lack of caring is what causes businesses to fail.
i have a similar feeling about samsung which is a shame because this is on of the sexiest tvs i have seen in a while... all the samsung leds i have seen in store have had literally shocking contrast.... having said that because of this hunch i have never purchased samsung! sony have never let me down but i am still currently using a toshiba crt which is about 5 years old... still looks amazing!
rofl good for you im getting the 8 series too with 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio, but it's nothing to brag about because in real honesty 2,000,000 more contrast doesn't make a much bigger difference, even though it sound like it would. You can actually buy a 8 series for $300 more than the 7 series at bestbuy in illinois.

man to tell you the truth this flat tvs suck ass when it come to how long they last, i bought a samsung LCD and my dad bought a plasma panasonic, my little brother has does old tvs on his room RCA 25", well my dads PLASMA broke in about 1 year,My LED tv broke in about 1 year and 5 months, and the tv that my brother has is still working like new! and he has had that tv for about 8 or 9 YEARS!!! this tvs are BS when it comes to the duration.

Also the 1080P look stunning when read from super fast HDD over optical blu ray on my Sony 40W4000. When my 40W4000 plays HD 1080P, there is no problem with motion at 30FPS or 24FPS. The bandwith is smoother & crisper. Plus the movies look stunning. I can see vertical lines down your TV, don't know if that's the lower Scanning resolution of your camera, but I can see it.

I've used my WIFI N router download HD 1080P content from Sony Playstation network to buy or rent movies to PS3. They took around 1 hour half to download to my PS3 for £3.70 & that's to rent HD movie for 14 days, way better & cheaper than getting off your armchair to go to local rental store.

Great looking TV. I have a Samsung Plasma 40" and it's been nothing but perfect. Definitely sticking w/ the South Koreans again. Plan on grabbing an LED too in the next few months for my bedroom.

I have the Samsung 55" 6000 in my bedroom and hooked up to my computer and I LOVE IT. Great tv, I also have a Video of it if you wanna check it out, but its an AUDIO vid because my home Audio 2.1 system cost more than the TV does. :)

very nice tv i recently bought a new lcd 42" vizio 50,000:1 contrast ratio and 120hz for $845.00 plus shipping.. then i saw the amazing led samsung. but for the price i paid for mine if i had another 1000 i would of bought the one u have. but its good enough for my COD 4 gaming and modern warfare 2. in a couple of months hope i can go and buy the 52" led.

the only way you can compare contrast ratios is from brand to brand for example samsung to samsung because there is no standard or set way to determine contrast ratios so every different manufacturer measures them differently so you cant compare the contrast ratio between something like sony to samsung, contrast ratios are almost pointless when shopping for TVs unless you are comparing two TVs of the same brand

you have to play the real blue ray DVD on the TV to get rid of it. Remember the files are always rips so there are changes to file = screen size.

@Kostas1601 it is just a more widescreen image.... it's not because of quality... if you want to get rid of them, you can use the classic media player, it allows to stretch the image to fit your desktop resolution...
another thing you can do is actually chasnge your desktop resolution to a more widescreen style

Please don't promote Samsung. It is not a good product and worst Samsung will not stand by their product. The products are notorious of breaking down as soon as the warranty expires. I have a 22 year old Sony that looks brand new. I have yet to own a Samsung TV over 3 years without it breaking down.

My samsung tv just out of the one year warranty started CLICKING on and off before it would turn on. Each day it took longer for it to turn on. Now it won't come on at all. Samsung customer service was no help because it was out of warranty. I will never buy samsung again.

I told the Samsung Customer Rep that I would never buy a Samsung product ever again. She told me to have a nice day. She was not even concerned. If i worked for a company I'd want that company to keep customers and stay in business so I can keep a job. But lack of caring is what causes businesses to fail.

i have a similar feeling about samsung which is a shame because this is on of the sexiest tvs i have seen in a while... all the samsung leds i have seen in store have had literally shocking contrast.... having said that because of this hunch i have never purchased samsung! sony have never let me down but i am still currently using a toshiba crt which is about 5 years old... still looks amazing!

rofl good for you im getting the 8 series too with 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio, but it's nothing to brag about because in real honesty 2,000,000 more contrast doesn't make a much bigger difference, even though it sound like it would. You can actually buy a 8 series for $300 more than the 7 series at bestbuy in illinois.
