  • This is NOT the Platters. It's some knock off group. Not bad...but they can't hold a candle the REAL Platters.

  • Que saudade desse tempo ,onde a musica simplesmente transmitia amor ,hoje só apologia as drogas e ao sexo futil.

  • I can only think of hot shots...feeeekkkk...it's no use

  • Realmente uma voz difícil 9graças a Deus)de se esquecer. está gravada na minha alma.

  • Magnifico !!!

  • ESTA MÚSICA ME TRANSPORTA AO MEU PASSADO QUANDO ESTAVA COM A PRIMEIRA NAMORADA.

  • You See, African Americans Can Make Such Beautiful Music :']

    Unlike Rap... Really.?

  • I love it .

  • Comment removed

  • i am disappointed in this:\ not what i was expecting but i gotta say they did do good.

  • @CandiLuvv You try and create a hit song and then sing it for 20 straight years afterwwards

  • @MrCorndogEater i didn't mean to be rude as you can see by what i said at the end of my comment. I am only implying that i liked the original version, if you did not notice they changed the song a bit:P oh and everyone has a opinion and that was mine and you clearly have your own opinion, good for you. ;)

  • Questi sono i Platters

  • Высший пилотаж!!! Браво!!!

  • Intemporel Platters.

  • fa sempre piacere sentirli........ anche se non è l'originale di più di 50 anni fa

  • no no no just no, lol at his afro tho lol.

  • MONROE POWELL.... BRILLIANT... AND EXQUISITELY TALENTED BY GOD.... I was blessed to have Monroe, or Roe, as we called him, in our Men's Bible Class for 3 years... He loves the Lord and can still sing as beautifully as ever... He has the kindest heart and gentlest soul.... and he was blessed with a most beautiful lady to become his wife in the recent years. God bless you, Roe!

  • this is a beautiful version of this song! i am 63 and got to hear all of the platter's songs when they first came out-and i agree that they were the best-just soso beautiful!!!! thanks so much for postjing this!!!!

  • Looks like Fat Larry's lead singer in "Zoom"

  • Not Fred Williams but a beautiful rendition nonetheless.

    The Platters were the greatest.

  • to all the trolls, you do understand thet you are trolling a video thats almost 40 years old right?

  • monroer is a friend of mine from 1991 yto now he loved gunmmybears he calledme his gummybear friend i get him2 bags of gummybears wheni saw him that ismonroe singing

  • perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Not bad

    a bit slow

  • Просто классная песня!!!!!

  • fu ck in wow

  • The Guardians in Com2 regards for Hedonism

  • Cmon folks he 's not that bad. I like him.

  • 2:09 bottom right. this bitch needs appreciate this amazing performance

  • The Platters featuring Monroe Powell - type this in, watch the vid and tell me if you can tell the difference between him and how it would sound if Kermitt The Frog sang the Platters. He is bloody awful

  • @DelBluenose80 yuo dont know goiod singing monroe been with theplatter for over 30years tony williams rtrained himto sing the platters songs

  • I hope you saved your money! there is a major crackdown.on all the people who have been exploiting the Platters name through out the years.

  • Sorry these are impostors, Tony Williams, Zola Taylor plus 2 are the Platters.

  • He should be singing "The Great Pretender" because thats what he is. " I seem to be what I'm not you see."

  • @hxo20292

No. He is not the "Great Pretender". He should be labelled the "Worst Pretender" of all the Platters franchises.

I think the Entertainment Company owning the trademark "the Platters" should learn something from "McDonanld's Restaurants" to ensure uniform quality across all the Platters groups.

  • the platters???? u mean The flatters!!!

  • a master craftsman

  • 13 dislikes???? PLEAASE.

  • Sounds like hes fuckin yodelling, fuckin rubbish

  • awful, this guy had some balls taking the name of the platters. Tony Williams is the voice .....end of

  • que interpretaçao meus amigos ,sensacional

  • this is monroe powell..singing lead hear..one of the best voices around..great work..my friend..

  • @dimuccio2 are you deaf?

  • Das ist echt geil gefällt mir

  • 1:55 is amazing !!!!!

  • @zasz01 HOLYCRAAAAAAAAAAAAPPP, awesome

  • Well it's obvious that he is no Tony Williams but he's a lot better than some of the others I've heard trying to sing this classic.

  • TONY WILLIAMS IS SPINNING IN HIS GRAVE SAYING WHO THE HELL ARE THESE MORONS , TO TRY AND PASS THEMSELVES OFF AS THE PLATTERS IS BULLSHIT. THEY SHOULD BE CALLED THE FLATTERS, YOU GUYS TOTALLY FUCKED UP THIS SONG, AND FUCK YOU BUCK RAM THERE IS ONLY ONE TRUE LEAD SINGER AND THATS TONY WILLIAMS PERIOD.ITS TRYING TO REPLACE JOHN LENNON WITH YOKO ONO

  • @rwhdragonmaster - OMG How right you are!!! This is a little better than that geeze louise awfull Bazz Bankster.

  • By far, the WORST version I've ever heard. Each singer should be judged on his or her own merit, not compared to the original lead singer. As such, this was an awful rendition of a great song.

  • @DeffLeopard - you must not have heard some guy named Bazz Bankster or something like that. Man he is so awful every rooster in the universe must camp out at his door. He gives new meaning to AWFUL!!!

  • This simply demonstrates why Tony Williams was the best. Nobody could sing it like he did.

  • OUCH!!!!!!

  • Considering that this guy, Monroe Powell, was chosen by Buck Ram in 1970 to be lead singer of the group and filled that position for 28 years, it kind of doesn't matter any more whether someone likes him or not. They were all employees of The Five Platters - including Tony.

  • Who the hell is this imposter!!!! Go back to Cuba!!! You will never be a RAY!!!

  • buli kala!!!!

  • T.T

  • this is a ridicilous attempt at an all time classic, Tony will be cringing looking down on this!! Sounds like hes fucking yodelling for God sake!

I do not exaggerate, when i say i have genuinely heard pissed up old alkeys in Glasgow bars sing this song better than this clown.

  • This is not the Platters. It's just another "tribute" group. If they billed themselves like that instead of as the "Platters"-no harm,no foul. Doing it this way they are stealing from Herb Reed and Sonny Turner-the only two people with legitimate legal claims to use the name.

  • HAHA Upträdde med dom på Mallorca -97 xD

  • Tony was the voice Buck Ram chose to build the group around. It is Buck's music that people come to hear. Tony had an unforgettable voice, and it blended perfectly with Buck's style of song writing. Buck chose Powell because of his highly trained, powerful voice. Oiwell was lead singer for 25years and could deliver the lyrics in such a way as to remind the fans of the original version that Buck wrote, arranged and produced. But there was only one Tony. Jean Bennett, Publicist since 1954

  • Tony is spinning in his grave. The problem is not the performance because it is not terrible. The issue is that it is called The Platters. These are not The Platters. And the guy yawning at the end sums up the rest of what I want to say.

  • @anakina1 that's the question the drifters, clovers, cadillacs & the platters!who are the originals from the fakes?help me anakina!!

  • I wish I could, but I guess its like a baseball team. It is still the Yankees although the originals are long gone. In music though it seems different. You change the lead and sometimes it is acceptable. But when they are all different and are not even siinging the song as it was intended, then it is NOT The Platters. A whole year went by and I still get a response.

  • Violento afro! jejejejjee

  • 1:52 to 2:00 is just amazing to watch!

  • Nothing to do with the original Platters with the "Voice" the only one voice of the group : Tony Williams.

And the version of My Prayer of this group is still more horrible.

  • @AlainPY A little history of this group which was put together by Buck Ram who created The Original Platters and wrote many of their hits. I worked with Monroe back in the 70s and he had one of the best voices I have ever heard. Monroe also was the lead singer for the Platters longer then anyone else in the history of the Group. Buck Ram was there many nights as he owned the name "The Platters"

  • WTF, this are "The Platters Wannabe".

  • This guy should be yodeling at the rodeo.

What a shame. The platters must just love this crap.

  • What about that kid in the front row yawning, at the end of the clip...lol.

Their original is so much better, but I suppose they were moving with the times of the day.

  • Yes..he has a nice tenor voice. But..he sure is no Tony Williams. They call him "legendary?" Why? He didn't sing on any of the original hits that opened the way for Black groups. He never had a hit of his own. He's good..yes..but..man..they should not be calling themselves "The Platters"...not one original Platter is there. Should I get five people and call my group "The Platters?" Absurd.

  • what's with the weird sideways movement of the jaw? Hell I have to say I like the old one better... this has too much out of beat singing

  • Not as good as the ORIGINAL

  • great song =]

i love Ringo Starr's version too though =]

    BEATLES!

  • Oh my Gosh! Anyone that says anything negative about this man "MONROE POWELL" sure doesn't know much about the Platters. Buck Ram is surely rolling over in his grave, because he thought the world of Monroe. Monroe Powell is an outstanding entertainer that has never missed a day of work and he has been with them since 1970.If you haven't seen him perform live then you have NO clue about him. MONROE POWELL is the Platters!

  • @dinosally Listen to this guy sing the Platters songs and then compare it with Tony Williams. Oh sorry, you wont be able to because there is no comparison, this guy is awful!!! Tony Williams is the true lead of The Platters not this warbling idiot

  • @dinosally i agree sally hes also a sweet nman i met moonroe inmichigan in1991 and he andi arfriends we evenhada drinktogether ibvegas soi do agreesdally

  • I am not taking the piss here i love this song, but he is one funny looking dude. I can't watch this version without laughing

  • Nothing beats the original but I somewhat like the way this guy sings this but he doesn't go as high as the original guy does

  • It's impossible to beat the original Platters, but you guys sound very good.

  • This is an insult to the original Platters. Sounds nothing like the original recording!

  • FAB SINGER

  • Monroe

    sings up a storm

Tommy its great to sing with

    people that sing great harmony

    Herb is a good friend

In my mind its all about the music not

  • i love this song "ah" and its the platters

  • What Platters are these???!!!!

    Not good at all

  • I may be wrong but I think it is Monroe Powell's group from the 1970s.

  • There is a video uploaded by weeds21 of Monroe Powell's group singing 'Only You' in 1995. They appears in the video about half way through. It starts with blacked-up Japanese singers.

  • @trolleybus1962 this is monroes group from the70s
