Tony was the voice Buck Ram chose to build the group around. It is Buck's music that people come to hear. Tony had an unforgettable voice, and it blended perfectly with Buck's style of song writing. Buck chose Powell because of his highly trained, powerful voice. Oiwell was lead singer for 25years and could deliver the lyrics in such a way as to remind the fans of the original version that Buck wrote, arranged and produced. But there was only one Tony. @AlainPY A little history of this group which was put together by Buck Ram who created The Original Platters and wrote many of their hits. I worked with Monroe back in the 70s and he had one of the best voices I have ever heard. Monroe also was the lead singer for the Platters longer then anyone else in the history of the Group. Buck Ram was there many nights as he owned the name "The Platters"
