Are you city type. its a city, find ypur neighborhood. Theres many fine beaches. Each with its own style. I personally like Venice. The mountians are close. Check out the Big Bear area. And, theres plenty of stark beauitiful desert. fav is the Borrego sand dunes. On the avg the fresh vegs are better quality than anywhere else in the US. Consider this - live in Chinatown The restraunts are amazing.

oooops you said LAX.. My bad.. I thought you said Downtown LA..yes it is about 2 miles from the airport but will take you 10 mins to get there. Just head west. You will end up right by the sewage treatment plant and it smells. Go south to Hermosa Beach it is the best beach in all of California..
