How do you pronounce てい then? Tewi or just Tei? My point, is they're both correct. Momoji or Momizi, either ways works as well.

てい is 'tei', but tewi's name is written てゐ, which is 'tewi'.

'Momiji' can't be written in japanese letters, the same way 'jacknosville*' can't be written in Japanese letters.

*ジャクソンビイル - 'jakusonbiiru' is the closest you can get in Japanese. Even though they have a 'vi' character in Katakana, it can't be pronounced in Japanese.

tl;dr Momiji, Momizi, either way is fine, but tewi is always tewi.

No. ゐ is mainly pronounced as い. The w sound is pretty much non-existant. Zi is the same sound as Ji; they both use じ. Momizi is just an alternate spelling, because both romaji make the same sound.

Actually, after Touhou 8 beginning in Touhou 9, ZUN began writing Tewi's name as てい, using い instead of using the obsolete "ゐ".

So technically the most recent canon name is "Tei". Which doesn't really change anything in Japanese since they're pronounced the same, but causes a multitude of arguments in English.

I like it too, meself. At first I wondered why the devil anyone would throw stones at her in the first place, but recently I read that Kappas of legend may belovable and helpful, or malicious and ready to suck your lifejuice/blood/liver/intestin­es out through your ass.

I guess the whole rescuing young girl thing let them classs Nitori as a helpful one.

..Of course, ZUN mythology might be different from that one thing I read on a wiki somewhere the other day. Regardless, Nitori win.
