I use my g7 primarily for music, video, and graphic production along with playing some less demanding games here and there. I'm happy with my purchase. My nitpicks are...

1) HP support assistant. The Bios updates are frequent and they never retain the previous settings after updating. I always need to turn on virtual technology for vmware, and turn off the auto hot keys. Which should imo should be off by default.

2) The ventilation isn't that good. The fan turns even when its not that hot.

Is this laptop good for the Sims 3?

@Dancefavv02 Yeah it plays the Sims 3 fine. Playing on the max settings are kinda choppy at times, but its not unbearable. This laptop isn't made for gaming, but you can play older games and everything should be as it should. Games from 2008 and up start to get sketchy.

It depends on what graphical effects, intense fog or smoke slows it down, lots of rain or detailed water is a slow down for newer stuff. Its a matter of how optimized the game is. I was able to play Fallout NV.

@zkaymon Intel does NOT make a Quad core Intel i3 processor. There is i5 and i7 quad cores but no i3! You say you have one then you say its not intel? AMD radeon does not make intel chips.... I don't know what your talking about!

Just a little note for when you do unboxing videos like these: Have a "cheat sheet" of information, maybe hanging on a close-by wall or somewhere where the viewers can't see it (and don't tell them you have one, it sorta makes you look unprofessional unless you only do this for some videos). Don't make it look like you have one either, so try to have most of the information memorized. You seem to have most of it in mind as u did this, but a cheat sheet to ensure people won't flame is always good

i have just got a g7-1260us, at staples for the nice price of 399. However, the touchpad SUCKS ASS and the KEYBOARD LAYOUT SUCKS ASS. all the rest runs fine.

@vxMarksvx It doesn't do too bad, integrated graphics aren't very powerful. But for example Black Ops will play well on meduim settings.

@snupyXD The g6 is a 15.6" laptop, while the g7 is a 17.3". Which one is better depends on the specific configuration for each one, compared to what you need. (I'd go with the g7 myself, but I expect to have it plugged in at a single location most of the time. My oldest who's in college, on the other hand, has a 15.6" Gateway laptop -- but he also has an HP desktop in his dorm room.)

It depends on your internal hardware configuration and what you are using it for. I got this one for the large screen size so I could edit and preview video on a portable computer where I knew that the video would work for sure for presentations. I'm using this one for college work for film, photo editing, writing papers, and doing online assignments. I'd recommend the g7. It's worked flawlessly so far.

the i3 is a dual core processor but due to the sandy bridge technology, it let's the two processors process another stream (two real processors and two "fake" processors). It seems like a quad but in reality it still is a dual.
