is that what the problem was was a little boy's nascent insecurity and possibly the typical human proclivity towards treating those around you as you have been treated, instead of how you would like to be treated. But hey, I'm not a bestselling author. Maybe I wouldn't know.
jumping down my throat, I'm not by any stretch of the imagination justifying bullying. No. I've been bullied, too. I know that pain; I'm all too familiar with the vicious cycle that begins to occur in the brain of someone who's been habitually bullied. But all I'm saying is that one has to make the distinction between a personal issue that is manifesting in a bully mistreating others and a purely malicious internal desire to cause harm. Now I never knew the little boy, but what i would say
evi? I wouldn't call the little boy who pulled out the little girl's chair evil. When I think of evil, and this is just me now, I think of an inherent, incontrovertible, deep rooted desire to cause pain and harm simply for personal satisfaction. I think the little boy did what he did for the same reason that most bullies do what they do: because they too are insecure and want to be accepted by their peers. That doesn't make you evil, that makes you human. Now, before I have 20 people
I am 15 years old, and this is my favourite book by Jodi, and I can relate to Peter so much! If I ever have the pleasure of meeting Jodi Picoult, I'm going to thank her for taking almost every negative aspect of school life, and some positive ones, and putting it into a book which opens the eyes of adults who read it. People need to realise that this happens all over the world, not just in big cities.
jodi p is literally my favorite author on this planet, not to mention nineteen minutes is probably the best book ive ever read. she has a lot of smart things to say, and its amazing how much research she's gone through for every book shes written. she's just..amazing.

I never expected her to sound and look like this, but she is brilliant- the way she addresses herself is brilliant. I cannot wait to read this book, and I want to read House Rules. I respect her so much more now.
@Darienlover999 House Rules is an amazing read! I loved it so much, I couldn't wait for ending to be revealed, and then I wanted to start reading it again!
The book is really good. She wanted to write a book for persons, that are bulled, if I understood that correct (My native language is german, sorry). She did that, I think. And that book describes everything perfect. I like it so much.
I'm from Germany and reading it at the moment. The emotions in the beginning made me stop reading, cause i was crying.. i had to take a break because i'm going to school.. and jodi describes the stories so in detail.. wow she's my absolute favourite author.. and will always be :] respect..
This book was phenomenal. I think it was her best book. I wish it were made into a movie ahaha and like a real good one. Some of her books were put to shame with the crap lifetime movies. Peter was actually my favorite character. Despite the fact that he killed people I still loved him. He was so real and his words made me think the most. He was just a kid with so much pain.
@SoKissMe2 yah.. And what I was saying is it IS becoming a movie. I was suprised that you would say that you wish it were made into a movie and yet not know it is being made into a movie.

@troyvialaura hahahahahahahhahahah. You're hilarious. How bored are you? I don't know what your source is but my dictionary says "till" is indeed a word. Also, you used "and" to start a sentence. I'm in the middle of reading this book right now, and i think it is one of the most amazing, thought provoking, emotional books i have ever read. It is so great. i agree with emonypemony, every teenager should read this, especially if there is a chance it could open a bully's eyes to show them that what they do effects someone so deeply.
This book is one of the best books I've read. I would like to read it again but this is one of those stories that you have to read in moderation because it affects you so deeply. This story literally had me crying for days after I finished. No book has had me crying THAT long. It's definitely a story that opens up your eyes to our society and how we treat one another. I think this should be a required read for high school students in our country.
yeah it really makes u think hard after u finish the book....i almost teared up and i couldnt help but feel so much sympathy for almost every character in the book....
agreed they should make teens read this in high school, even if its controversial it really opens ur mind on things
My class is actually reading this right now and the class is halfway done with it but I went ahead and read the rest of the book.
This really is one of the best books i've ever read and I can't stop thinking about it no matter how hard I try. I'm not used to that at all either so it's kind of strange.
I wish the ending was a little different though because PTSD could have caused Peter to end up killing all of those people... I just wish Peter would have ended up winning the court battle.
@iDeathItself yeah the ending was so heartwrenching becuz the way she described peteres death was like she was tugging at ur heart...and yeah i wish he had won the court battle. it was so intense btw, like i was watching a crime movie
i wish they would adapt this into a movie that would be splendid
she's my fav author, no doubt. her writing is just amazingly great and she's so intelligent! nineteen minutes and all her books are awesome but my sister's keeper really stands out the most for me. the best book i've ever read.
She's so amazing.. She speaks so intelligently and elegantly! I LOVE her books, Nineteen Minutes - i've read it over and over again and it just touches me soo much!
Omg! I Loved this book and cried so much over Peter Houghton and the last paragraph on page 575. I felt so bad for Peter. This is truly an amazing book. =)
Never have I been more moved by a book then 'Nineteen Minutes'. I just finished the book today. I started it Sunday and just couldn't put it down. I can't tell you how many times I cried over the character of Peter Houghton. The things he went through is unbelievable. And to think that people actually go through this torment and pain on a daily basis. I think this book should be read in high schools and should be a major motion picture. People need to realize the seriousness of bullying.
Jodi Picoult is by far one of my BEST authors. I do NOT have a favorite book from her because each & everyone is in its own class. AMAZING! Keep up the magnificent work you do...
I don't think it matters how she looks I mean, she's like, totally beautiful and her writing is even more so. Nineteen minutes is my favorite book of hers.
i am from Greece and i have read the msk and the tenth circle(in Greek)as i adooooore her i would really appreciate if you could tell me which of her books have been translated to Greek.thanks!
Weird how people comment on what she looks like. Doesn't really matter. What matters is what you like to read. Me personally, I'm not into these types of books. I'm a Stephen King (fiction) and Ron Paul (non fiction) fan. Jodi wouldn't be where she is today if she didn't write well and touch many readers. So if you're concerned about how "heavy" she is, maybe you should go to the gym, because it's obviously a subject that you - the people who've made the comments - are sensitive about.
heavy physically or in the context? I was just wondering because after looking at her picture on the back of books and seeing her here I was like, woah, who is that lady? I had no idea she was a heavyset person.
