  • This entire scene is embarrassing. The break falling is mostly neko ukemi, none of it is hyaku. That and the music insults everything the art stands for. Jiu-waza my fricking arse. Please issue a formal apology to Shudokan practitioners everywhere.

  • yes, the backflip is just showing off and if I could do it, I would!

Simondo666 can you honestly say that if you could do that, you wouldn't?

@Vaniaderomana: demonstrations are a big part of all (well-known) martial arts. If you set four natural athletes loose with a reasonable understanding of aiki, who knows where they will take it? i think this shows one example of where aikido can be taken to. Its not like it hasn't been taken to stupider places.

    I agree about the music...

  • This is stupid. Aikido is a martial arts. Don't make it look a rehearsed dance..

  • SHUDOKAN! SHUDOKAN! SHUDOKAN!

    My school ;]

    AiKIDO - I'm lovin it!

  • I miss my old dojo back home :( I would be a least 5th Kyu by now, if it wasn't for situations hindering my ability to simply find a fully active dojo.

    Art of Peace forever.

    O-Sensei Morihei Ueshiba R.I.P.

  • Nice coreographi.. Ugly technic... With a good techniq doing such ukemis would be resulting on a broken arm for sure.

  • stupid music

  • con ésa música sin querer destrozaría a mi uke de un irimi ^^" si motiva y todo jajajaj

  • Also, the randori was slightly poor quality, apart from that yeah , nice Aikido,

  • Yess looks all nice, but the whole backflip bit is just showing off. Aikido is a martial art , not a stunt show.

  • While I'm agree, I think it might be a good way of breaking the opponent technique. Don't really know if it's possible (since the nage will try to do the trow against the floor).

  • superb demo...this is a great way to conduct a demo on aikido. Its fast paced and action packed...

  • very beautifull

  • yey! this type of demonstration's good for the public ^^ at least they'd get a picture that in a real fight, aikido's good for something.

ouch... the last part he fell badly... that's gotta hurt... now i'm beginning to see y my sensei limits some techniques from me lol...

  • Awesome! Great vid!

  • Hey all u guys talkin about andrew cullern sensei. i can ask him if it is him in the vid if u want, cos he's my sensei :)

  • Well... The girls obviously loved it... ^^

  • is this all you do in aikido, isnt there any punching or kicking

  • yes and no.. we have several techniques which involves, protecting ourselves from danger. Punching n kicking is practically useless.

Besides, if you're a girl, the last thing u want to do to a person attacking u is punch him... what u'd want to do is make him off balance, push him down, and run away as fast as u can in the opposite direction

  • @kulk4471

Why would you punch or kick in kata-based grappling art?

  • GREEAT VID !!

Its one of the best aikido vids on youtube !

    thanks for posting

  • Awaaay

  • Great vid well done enjoyed.

  • Bad choice of music :(

  • better than others

  • The 'Asian guy' is not Andrew Cullerne. This demo was put together at the request of the organisers for TV. The music was a given and not something you would find in an Aikido Shudokan demo, ever! The objective was to demo Aikido techniques in dynamic, entertaining way for the viewers. That's all, so enjoy it and appreciate the flexibility of Aikido to peek the interest of a wide range of people, even the armchair warriors with the IQ of an onion like MrGalt above!

  • Please, please make the horrible music stop.

  • So if you do this aikido stuff you first teach your attackers how to hold hands with you and do nifty rolls across the floor, and then you're ready to go. I like it. If they enjoy the rolling enough maybe they'll not want to fight you anymore. Otherwise they might get annoyed at you for asking them to hold hands and hit you.

  • And the new definition of ignorance is in! :)

  • Pronunciation: 'ig-n(&-)r&n(t)s

    Function: noun

: the state or fact of being ignorant : lack of knowledge, education, or awareness : possession of an interest in studying imaginary martial arts in the absence of any evidence of their usefulness.

  • Ahh, for the lost art of copying and pasting. I fondly recall my days of pasting massive chunks of text to baffle and bemuse first time internet users in a bid to escape appearing that which you so accurately defined.

  • rolling is cool

and some attacks you can do by grabig them not them graabing you,

    just not at first

  • sublime. awesome

  • The 'asian guy' is Andrew Cullerne who instructs in Devon. He is fast, technically excellent and a cool dude. This demo is fun - but Shudokan is a 'hard' style and is excellent self-defence, including a lot of weapons defence at realistic speed and force.

  • Awesome

  • omg best aikido demo ever in the world!! that asian guy is hot!!

  • circus...circus!! where is the martial art?

  • martial arts aren't just bashing people

  • i agree with u this demo is a really good demonstration of harmony
