The rider had no weapon and was cooperating, the most lethal weapon the officer was allowed to pull on the rider was a stun gun...no more. also he is off duty in his personal vehicle without lights or identification. even the marked cop car did not have his lights on. who ever made the arrest can be dishonorably discharged for doing that.

From what I read (not verified) someone mentioned the cyclist traveling at 130MPH. I believe that's considered some kind of endangerment and is considered a threat to the community when 100MPH plus.
It could be the cop assumed this guy was high and could possibly try speed off. If the cyclist is to run into someone (and kill them), better off shooting him initially I suppose.

@FerrariFloency you CAN get shot for speeding if you show intent, ability/capability, and opportunity. ability/capability was displayed because the rider has a motorcycle to cause harm, he also displays opportunity because he's riding fast enough to kill/severely maim someone, but he does not show intent. intent would be something like saying "I'm gonna fucking kill you!!", or "I'm gonna run you over!!", THEN, the officer has the right to legally shoot and probably kill you. i hope this helps

In retrospect, I will recant my call for "permanent" revocation of motorcycle licence...but 1 year suspension for every 10MPH over the speed limit would be awesome. And I still say the bike should be automatically impounded...that should be automatic for anyone popping wheelies on the freeway.

more to this then what is lead to believe. @3:34 if you pause it here are two other cars, one marked police vehicle, pulled behind him also. Judging from the time he passed the officer, to the time the cop pulled up I think they were behind him for some time trying to pull him over, or a person in a car called to report him for the speed and wheelie. Either would make put an officer on edge a little. Not saying I agree at all with what happened.

I got Pulled over by two "Cops" once, they told me to get off of my bike(73 cafe style moto guzzi i built myself), had guns drawn, and did not show ID, I told them to pound sand and call their superior in. When they started to raise their guns a little more I drew my own, pointed it squarely at the closest one, and told them to show ID or fuck off, neither did. From what I read (not verified) someone mentioned the cyclist traveling at 130MPH. I believe that's considered some kind of endangerment and is considered a threat to the community when 100MPH plus.
It could be the cop assumed this guy was high and could possibly try speed off. If the cyclist is to run into someone (and kill them), better off shooting him initially I suppose.

@FerrariFloency you CAN get shot for speeding if you show intent, ability/capability, and opportunity. ability/capability was displayed because the rider has a motorcycle to cause harm, he also displays opportunity because he's riding fast enough to kill/severely maim someone, but he does not show intent. intent would be something like saying "I'm gonna fucking kill you!!", or "I'm gonna run you over!!", THEN, the officer has the right to legally shoot and probably kill you. i hope this helps

What a foul excuse for a police officer, let alone a state trooper. Where I come from (Canada) our 'state cops' are the Ontario Provincial Police and they are FANTASTIC Officers.
