Austral, an Australian company with experience in the trimaran design helped the US make the USS Independence class LCS. A wonderfully fast design. around 40, yes 40 fast knots. Their design used an aluminum hull though. I think Austral might be behind this design is all, just by the looks of it. I like that their design has a low underwater draft that it can enter the shallowest of bays. Their design also requires very, very few crew too.

@lordvader5246 , in 2011 Russia has buy 4 French "BPC Mistral" and South America is becoming a big buyers of french ships , (Brasil has buy 1 aircrafcarrier and submarins , and now they are in "pourparler" with Argentina and Chili ) and ther also are the six Scorpen submarins that the French sale to India ... so I think that they are able to make a true and powerfull stealth ship .

@HONORGUARD308 I know whats in there, it just seems a bit unusual, as normally radar gear is housed either ontop of the mast (like on the T45) or in the hull (as on the arleigh burke class).
I love the retractable arms though, a bit like visby's main gun.

u are so wrong.... France has one of the highest military budget in world (not as high as the americans, of course) . And not to mention, France has nuclear capability as well. Their military might is impressive but they don't flaunt it openly.
I was quite surprised when i first learned about their budget; probably had something to do with their history, France had suffered embarrasing defeats in WW2 and viet war, they clearly do not want a repeat of those events.

@MsArzens That is a really interesting fact I always knew that the Catholic Kings of France defeated a lot of European armies that were funded, armed and sometimes were given soldiers by the now Protestant English. Could you send me a list and I will do a little more research. It is true the English sure let the world know that they won the battle of Waterloo. i have respect for the french army, if it wasnt for them thousands of british and allied troops (french and british) were able to escape the overwhelming first strike of the german army. many fought to the end and geve there lives, if the soldiers would have been captured the d day landing and french and british resistance would have likely crumbled. who knows, respect people for what they do, dont look for something to hate.

Austral, an Australian company with experience in the trimaran design helped the US make the USS Independence class LCS. A wonderfully fast design. around 40, yes 40 fast knots. Their design used an aluminum hull though. I think Austral might be behind this design is all, just by the looks of it. I like that their design has a low underwater draft that it can enter the shallowest of bays. Their design also requires very, very few crew too.
