  • I don't any problem with the Samsung Keyboard mine works and interacts perfectly, and my browser never had that crashing problem, I have a tested the battery life and it wosrks like 7,5 /8 hrs I had that problem with my samsung galaxy s Phone in which the battery dies in like 1,5 hrs of ussage, the camera is Weak ?? the iPad2 has a vga frontfacing camera it's quality is way better than the iPad camera

  • @Sungkawa That's really great to hear. I'd expect them to fix these issues sooner than later with subsequent updates. I'm really more excited about the iPad3 announcement coming up though. But I may give Samsung's next generation tablet (yet to be announced) another shot in the future.

  • i had the same problem

  • @Mrnewme97 wow, you're the first person to step up and say so here (in public). Thanks.

  • A few months old*

  • Im not trying to bash you, but in all the reviews ive seen and also in my own experience ive never seen these things happening, this vid is a month or.so old, has it been fixed? If not try installing norton antivirus in the market.

  • @mikeyiscoolable I ended up returning it. There are other video reviewers that mentioned some of these issues but I suppose they don't show up on top of the search lists. Plus they don't go into detail (and if you see my other videos on anything, I go into detail.) I would think that these issues would have been addressed by now... but then again Honeycomb is still in its early stages. If I get around to another one in the future, I will update. Glad its working for most.

  • the reason the battery gets drained is because of the keyboard dock it uses loads of power from the tab

  • @Bovlaxbox Actually I keep it docked to charge (charger plugged into the dock). In use I don't notice any major drain from using the keyboard dock when it is unplugged from the wall and in use. I'm referring to overnight drain - some applications were still causing the unit to drain power. I'm sure stuff like this is resolved by now for a majority of the apps - just be aware.

  • Well, mail supports hotmail, and it's a native app

  • You pointed out smth that i think was a mistake dude, the ipad DOES offer email support for hotmail. (i'm writting from my ipad 2 now)

  • @ricardovercesisaad I'm referring to native support for free hotmail. Not talking apps, browser, work arounds.

  • @ricardovercesisaad iOS5 will be adding easy hotmail setup for everyone. Right now, its sort of like manual entry in settings. Easy enough to do, but I still consider it a work-around - definitely not one that would have happened if microsoft didn't 'give in'. There used to be apps specifically sold so that you can get hotmail access (I know, I paid for one).

  • You obviously are the only one having these kinds of problems that's why your the only one i found here in you tube. And as to what I have observed, there is obviously something wrong with your tab, which probably caused by your own doing (virus, unsupported/not certified softwares/applications you have installed) or a factory defect perhaps?? So instead of ranting about it here in youtube, give yourself a favor and have it checked in Sammy's Customer Service outlets. GOOD GOD!!

  • Worst review. It's shit review.

  • your an idiot

  • I could only complain about the lack of compatibility from the ports since you've only got a 30 pin connector to work with. You can buy dongles but that would ruin the purpose of having a portable tablet and I'm still not sure touchwiz UX will improve or hamper the software. Other than that it's one of the best android tablets to get right now.

  • HALLO everything is not perfect like fucking apple i shit!!!

  • OK, so it looks like others are talking about getting 3-4 hours battery life on their Galaxy Tab 10.1 as well now on youtube (similar experience here-and-there in my use - sometimes its great, other times it's as if power gets sucked right out). There is a chance that I got a defective one - it happens.

  • You've got plenty of third party apps installed that could be responsible for the uncommon behavors you describe, but are unwilling to use others to help rectify other situations and blame everything on the device? Enjoy hating your new tablet I guess, but you mught consider updating the firmware if you've not yet done so. Cheers.

  • @belg4mit I really think people are getting this all wrong, I don't hate the tablet. I'm pointing out issues with it because few people are. That's it. Back when PC's were a lot less stable, there was a LOT of troubleshooting. I stuck with it, became an expert, and an IT Professional. Still at some point, we can all appreciate something that just works. Right now it doesn't for me. This just represents where the Galaxy Tab 10.1 stands right now and early adopters need to know.

  • As for the browser "crashing," I've had my I/O edition for for almostt wo months, and never had an issue wth it. I think you may be misinterpreting that if idle for sometime the browser closes... presumably to save energy. All open tabs are remembered though.

  • @belg4mit Nope, definitely not mistaken for idle browser closing, this is real crashing. Sure there is not blue screen of death, but the browser simply closes. I wouldn't believe it at first, but then it kept happening repeatedly and could be replicated every single time.

  • No, the screen is not turning on at night, it simply means that your backlight is bright. If you dim the display it is still legible, and you will extend your battery life greatly. "Screen filter" is great for this, becuse it lives in the system tray so that it cn be quickly disbled if you are outside/somewhere with glare.

  • @belg4mit Actually in some cases it was. I'm a pretty light sleeper and when it comes to the beautiful screen turning on in the middle of the night, I notice. Naturally, I turned off the notifications from then on, but something was still eating the battery overnight. Regardless, I'm sure there are ways to fix these issues but I do take issue when I have to install a third party patch for them. Its like Apple and jailbreaking... it shouldn't be necessary for such rudimentary requirements.

  • The camera is better than iPad2's camera ....

  • @TheDroidSector101 iPad2 camera(s) is a joke. If they just took the iPhone 4's camera and ported it, would have been great!

  • also, the keyboard does that on off thing because your tablet is going to sleep when not in use... so that it doesn't consume your battery.

  • @TheDroidSector101 That would make sense, if the keyboard wasn't also charging the Galaxy Tab 10.1. That's how I charge it, placing it right in the keyboard dock.

  • lol at your argument about the Screen and batterylife... thats saying that 80% of the battery is taken by the screen.... if you add up all the catergories it will equal 100%.

my Nexus S battery usage is 97% all taken by the screen...

  • @TheDroidSector101 It's what's reported by the OS, not quite an argument. I don't know for sure what's causing it. I don't have any issue with Android 2.2 on phones with the issues had with Samsung Galaxy Tab 3.1. It's new, and buggy, and that's to be expected. Again, just pointing out what's wrong as everybody just points out what's right mostly.

  • the keyboard is a Peripheral, thats not necessary... You just havent configured the settings correctly.

In regards to the browser crashing, i believe that you may have to many tabs/popUps open :/ try enabling the popup blocker

BatteryLife, MultiTasking.... lol, Its not like the iPad where you just expect everythign to close lol.

  • @TheDroidSector101 Again, there's only one correct configuration with the keyboard, and it's stated when its first plugged in. The peripheral is not a 3rd party peripheral, it's specifically for the Galaxy Tab 10.1. Keyboard is important to me when I need to type a long document.

Already addressed browser crashing, it's not as robust as a real desktop browser running Chrome itself.

Battery life is great in one sitting, not good overnight for me. Most likely an app is culprit, just no control

  • the keyboard is a Peripheral, thats not necessary... You just havent configured the settings correctly.

In regards to the browser crashing, i believe that you may have to many tabs/popUps open :/ try enabling the popup blocker

  • @TheDroidSector101 Wasn't an issue with popups, or with tabs. I went completely clean with nothing loaded, still happens. I'm sure its a combination of flash and shockwave and javascript with certain websites. It should be pointed out that while the browsing experience is excellent, it's also not stable.

  • the keyboard is a Peripheral, thats not necessary... You just havent configured the settings correctly.

  • @TheDroidSector101 I wish it were that simple. The issue was solved by my using an Apple Wireless Keyboard combo instead (noted in other video I produced).

  • That google maps live wallpaper is probably sucking the battery dry

  • @ipoddropshipcom Possibly. I have the same live wallpaper on my Android phone (Froyo), no issues there.

  • well I don't have the browser issues but I use dolphin browser way faster and the battery I tested it using it none stop for 6 ½ hours I got 7 house and 20 mins out of it yea I do agree needs more app but the cams I think are good now I don't own a ipad but from reviews they say the cams are better on the tablet oh and yea when I got my tablet i just looked at that keyboard and said no just looks cheap to me am waiting for a way slimmer and better keyboard

  • @roystroud2550 If you use the tablet non-stop, you'll probably get the rated 7+ hours or more. My issue was that I put it to 'sleep' and some applications were cycling it in and out of sleep thus draining the battery way more than expected. The cameras were disappointing coming from Samsung (who makes digital cameras too), I was really expecting better than iPhone / iPad 2 quality. I think people just need to be aware of these issues going in.

  • great and honest review. I was about to buy one.

  • @crazybooblik It's still a great tablet, arguably still the bets Android Tablet in it's class. It has the best screen and the slimmest size. However, I agree with industry expert's fear about Samsung controlling the firmware updates with their own flavor of Android which could end up badly. I'd wait and see.

  • I agree with you on almost all of these issues

  • @grimlockish Haha, thanks for standing up to join me on these issues. I'm not your typical user, so I thought there was a slight possibility that I'm one of the few who was annoyed with these issues. Now at least I'm not alone.
