I heard Randy California was good friends with Hendrix and was going on an European tour with him... but his mom wouldn't let him. Long live Randy California.
Spirit, one of the most underrated groups of it's time. Radio competition with Hendrix, Clapton, C.S.N. and Y., etc., etc. If it were not for the advent of AOR (Album-Oriented Radio) probably would have heard "Nature's Way" and "Mr. Skin" only. Saw them at The Agora in So. Fla. in early '80s, Randy California Band in Colorado mid-'90s. One of my all-time favorite groups and especially love this song!
This is the greatest album ever produced. Sadly, I have it on 8 track cassette. Who has an 8 track player these days. Thank God for Utube and the kindly people have made these tracks available again. I am Stephen
I went to an Eastern Prep School........all boys at the time. All we had to do was smoke pot, and listen to music 24/7. I graduated in the early 70's. That year we listened to Sticky Fingers, Eat a Peach, Harvest, Low Spark of High Heel Boys, and Dr Sardonicus. It was/is a great album. I happened on this song {my favorite} on youtube. I read a little about the band and Randy California on Wikipedia. He was great at a young age. They were really good. Kinda fizzled. Why? though. Why?
Dr Sardonicus is still one of my favorite albums. I put it right up there with Pink Floyd's Meddle, King Crimson's debut, and Hendrix's Electric Lady Land. Wish I could find some live video of these guys.
One of my favorite songs from one of rocks all time best albums...I dare anyone to listen to "12 Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus" on a pair of decent headphones and dispute my statement.
This album is so great, should be at top of most lists. It just evokes an age of possibilites that began to open up but never really became a reality. But the dream still lives.
No need to convince me, Brother. In Dec '70 my best bud handed this album and his best set of headphones, ordered me to go home, roll up a fatty, and crank it up. He PROMISED me I would not be disappointed. Well, I wasn't. In fact to this day 12 Dreams remains my fav all time collection of music. Anyone who passes this gem up is missing out on a part of RnR history.
mark andes went on to play for heart and was ANN WILSON'S boyfriend for a while

This is without question Spirit's best work. Of course that whole 12 dreams album was amazing.

This album came out around the same time as the Beatles Abbey Road. It's just as good and holds up over time. Amazing

These guys were way ahead of their time. I hear other groups taking their approach, running with it and making more money. Sad.
