  • mark andes went on to play for heart and was ANN WILSON'S boyfriend for a while

  • I heard Randy California was good friends with Hendrix and was going on an European tour with him... but his mom wouldn't let him. Long live Randy California.

  • makes me hopeful, inspired. lyrics may be gobbledygook but doesn't matter: inspired

  • Oh, man, most ANY Spirit song on decent headphones takes you right back to the 60's with NOOOOO problem.....WOW....California dreamin'!!! FANTASTIC!!

  • RANDY CALIFORNIA could make GOD coming down on earth just to see him to perform

  • i love it as well...have more than one autograph by Randy....i will forevever miss my favorite guitarist....MJA

  • I grew up on this album. Love it.

  • Spirit, one of the most underrated groups of it's time. Radio competition with Hendrix, Clapton, C.S.N. and Y., etc., etc. If it were not for the advent of AOR (Album-Oriented Radio) probably would have heard "Nature's Way" and "Mr. Skin" only. Saw them at The Agora in So. Fla. in early '80s, Randy California Band in Colorado mid-'90s. One of my all-time favorite groups and especially love this song!

  • This is the greatest album ever produced. Sadly, I have it on 8 track cassette. Who has an 8 track player these days. Thank God for Utube and the kindly people have made these tracks available again. I am Stephen

  • Life has just begun

  • Good thing no false drugs were involved....just sayin...

  • Beautiful beautiful song, it's been with me nearly 40 years now. Love it love it love it. Good album too!!

  • yummy ...much luv n that.

  • So many years later..still brings tears to my eyes. Assholes!

  • This song is brilliant!!!!

  • Spring in California.

  • I went to an Eastern Prep School........all boys at the time. All we had to do was smoke pot, and listen to music 24/7. I graduated in the early 70's. That year we listened to Sticky Fingers, Eat a Peach, Harvest, Low Spark of High Heel Boys, and Dr Sardonicus. It was/is a great album. I happened on this song {my favorite} on youtube. I read a little about the band and Randy California on Wikipedia. He was great at a young age. They were really good. Kinda fizzled. Why? though. Why?

  • DID I JUST SEE GOD?

  • 40 years! Wow.

  • One my favorites from this great band!

  • OMG! I am having such a flashback now!

This is without question Spirit's best work. Of course that whole 12 dreams album was amazing.

  • Dr Sardonicus is still one of my favorite albums. I put it right up there with Pink Floyd's Meddle, King Crimson's debut, and Hendrix's Electric Lady Land. Wish I could find some live video of these guys.

  • This album came out around the same time as the Beatles Abbey Road. It's just as good and holds up over time. Amazing

  • tpe in Ray Blue and title of each song from sardonicus,,Its amazing

  • These guys were way ahead of their time. I hear other groups taking their approach, running with it and making more money. Sad.

  • Does anyone have the lyrics to this song???

  • @NutzMusic1234

Google the title with lyrics and you will find them.

  • I saw an interview with Randy..He wrote this for 12 dreams knowing this would probably be their last record togerther

  • nice

  • i agree, spirit was an awesome band and 12 dreams was an album i will all ways treasure.`

  • Ferguson and California were underrated as a vocal duo.

  • @Raughwe i agree, so is mark andes.

  • It appears that half the track is missing in the mix. Great post regardless!!

  • PHYZOE morning will come is after this track, maybe thats what youre feeing

  • One of my favorite songs from one of rocks all time best albums...I dare anyone to listen to "12 Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus" on a pair of decent headphones and dispute my statement.

  • This album is so great, should be at top of most lists. It just evokes an age of possibilites that began to open up but never really became a reality. But the dream still lives.

  • @basspond51

No need to convince me, Brother. In Dec '70 my best bud handed this album and his best set of headphones, ordered me to go home, roll up a fatty, and crank it up. He PROMISED me I would not be disappointed. Well, I wasn't. In fact to this day 12 Dreams remains my fav all time collection of music. Anyone who passes this gem up is missing out on a part of RnR history.

  • @gnute9 A Fatty would be good; but a double hit of Orange Barrell would be perfect.

  • @waylandroberts3 wow...thas exactly how I heard it the first time.

My friend larry gave me 2 orange barrels...and then a pair of headphones...

#1 album of all time...way beyond the sum of it's parts...

  • @basspond51 phenomenal album-

  • @basspond51 I did that way back then & have done so again... a very cool experience indeed!!!
