@Dale21166 I was just saying that the british blogger below was inaccurate. If you read all the incident reports of friendly fire, both on civilians and soldiers, US troops are only responsible for 24 non-enemy deaths in both Iraq and Afghanistan. That is actually a pretty good rating.
I am not defending THIS incident in the video, its one of the few times US soldier were at fault. Friendly fire is a problem in every war, but british troops shoot each other more often than we do.

That's what the A-10 was designed for, and these pilots obviously weren't flying them at the right altitude. Also, when in doubt don't fire. Don't take it for granted that your intel is 100% correct. Until you've got 100% certainty that they're enemy vehicles don't fire. That's the professional way.

@Dale21166 I was just saying that the british blogger below was inaccurate. If you read all the incident reports of friendly fire, both on civilians and soldiers, US troops are only responsible for 24 non-enemy deaths in both Iraq and Afghanistan. That is actually a pretty good rating.
I am not defending THIS incident in the video, its one of the few times US soldier were at fault. Friendly fire is a problem in every war, but british troops shoot each other more often than we do.

@dontBugly Maybe you should learn more about the A-10 and how it's supposed to be flown. Ever heard of "nap of the earth"? That's what the A-10 was designed for, and these pilots obviously weren't flying them at the right altitude. Also, when in doubt don't fire. Don't take it for granted that your intel is 100% correct. Until you've got 100% certainty that they're enemy vehicles don't fire. That's the professional way.

troops in the area by battle command so the pilots fired at two vehicles at the front of the battle group. This came out in the enquiry and was publish in the tabloids two years later! Made me realise just how lucky i was that day. Sad to see it happend again and is still happening.

I was driving a Challenger tank in the British army in the 91 gulf war. We was MBT support for 1 Royal Fusiliers battle group (50 armoured vehicles in total) Two Warrior APCS got taken out by two A10s 50 yards in front of me! they shot two maverick missiles through the back doors killing nine heroes! Of course the pilot is to blame, a professional tank hunter should have a clue about the target he is firing at. These are not just strike aircraft dropping bombs from 10,000 feet onto a lasered target they are NAP an have or should have eye ball on the target prior to firing especially if there is any doubt. Which there clearly was from the pilots own transmissions.
