I use to play this all the time in the arcade only problem was the steering sucked it was always so loose you would crash more then race. And i always like the woman how she pointed at you I would always say get the hell out and walk bitch.
Nice one dude, I never played the game back in the day. Only now on MAME, but as a child I knew about this monster and wondered if someday I would ever be able to play it myself.
All these other racers are fine, Grid, Dirt 2 etc ,but this for me re-defined the racer.
Saying that, Checkered Flag on the ZX Spectrum still kicks ASS!!!!
This was the shit growing up. I loved this soudtrack hated the others. I can remember going to arcades at 12 and watching chinese guys smash this and Shinobi. Sega were the dons back in the day. Thank for the upload.
This game is hard, I know. But once you beat it for the first time, you get this little feeling of satisfaction that just makes you want to scream out your window "HELL YEAH! I BEAT OUTRUN!"
as great as the games are nowadays... they'll never replace playing Outrun in the arcade... I remember always seeing this at amusement parks and it was always fun. I miss this game.
You've been gaming for about as long as I have! It's one of my favourite racing games too, although I'll always have a soft spot for the Ridge Racer series.
i was born in 1980 and started playing in about 1986,damn 23 years of keyboard, joysticks and control pads-no wonder i have dodgy hamds :) i didnt think this was a bad run btw-wow,i also remember pac land!!!i remember playing that in spain when i was on holiday in about 87?
Too bad the default difficulty is absolutely brutal, requiring a near-perfect run to finish with time to spare, but that's pretty much all arcade racers.
Outrunners is even better IMHO, simply because of how much it feels like the original and adds multiplayer to boot. Outrun 2006 also deserves mention, it's a really nice update to the original in 3-D that in an age where it's all about realism and ZOMG GRAPHICS, they manage to capture the feel of the original's arcade play.
I used to play arcade around the late 80s/early 90s there was a game where you sat in a helicopeter and flew over a town nayone know what this could be?
the turtle was another good game I remebr and a game like a pacman character where he jumps about a bit like mario bros I suppose
Hmm, the two main helicopter games I can think of are Choplifter and Thunder Blade. Thunder Blade had some really nice pseudo-3D effects, especially for 1987, and Choplifter was side-scrolling. The last game you mention was probably Pac-Land, a 2D platformer spin-off of the Pac Man series.
This was one of my childhood's favourite game. Is this recorded from your PC? PLEAAAASEEEEE tell me how can I get Out Run on my PC? Can I download it from somewhere? like a torent or something? Did you played it using a steering-wheel? Too many questions :) if you got time please answer me. Thank you!
have you heard of emulators? They are methods of playing games for different systems on your pc. You can get emulators fora ll kinds o f machines, like Spectrum, snes, and arcade. check out google to find out more.
However, note that i think using emulators to play games when you dont own the original game is illegal? Which is a bit of a downer.
So is this! The only reason it's running at about 20fps instead of 60fps is that (a) YouTube's limit is 30fps, and (b) There was too much of a loss of quality at 30fps, so I lowered the framerate to avoid it looking like arse.
oooooo...u flip the ferrari

Not as good as the Atari ST version.

You have some good driving skills there. The bad thing about Outrun is if you crash near a checkpoint, your screwed.

Best driving game of all time, period. And I've played more than my fair share of them in 25 years of gaming.
