I wasn't at youtube for a few months, and people still argue over one word of the whole tribute? I've already stated that English is not my mother tongue. Since I'm not perfect (pun intended), maybe I made a mistake. I explained to you why I think "epitaph" is the correct word, but I don't see why the debate got so heated.
Let me tell you something, guys: It simply doesn't matter. I made this video to HONOR CURT HENNING. So why don't you just calm down and enjoy the memories of him?
Ummm... let me just say that it's a eulogy he wrote, not an epitaph. I know he called it an epitaph on the paper, but he also called the words in a song a "lyrec" (lyric) and mispelled "Chapen." (Chapin).
I WAS LIVING IN LAS VEGAS IN THE MID 80'S EVERY WKEND MY MOM WOULD RENT ME ROOM AT THE SHOWBOAT SO C &HANG WITH THE WRESTLING. BOY IT WAS ALWAYS A KILLER TIME! In his prime, Curt Hennig would have had outstanding matches with Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko, Perry Saturn, Kurt Angle, and Bryan Danielson (to name a few).
@sayanroy36 A Curt Hennig vs. Jushin Liger or Curt vs. Ultimo Dragon match would've been on the short list for Pro Wrestling Illustrated's Match Of The Year award.
@seikogoldwatch2009 He did write an epitaph to his son, and the quote is taken from it. Google it if you don't believe it.
And btw: Thank you for your very friendly comment. Based on your approach to a person you have never met, I guess you are one of the fans Dixie Carter talked about when she testified to Congress? You know, the "40-Year-Old Virgin"-reference?
@Thumper17 Since you are far more polite than seikogoldwatch, I'll answer you seriously. I put a link to the whole text and a picture of the epitaph in the video description, since youtube seems to block links in comments. Below the text, it says "Click here to see picture of Larry's epitaph to Curt". In the text itself, it says: "No Father should have to write his son's epitaph". And to me, it does look like one. So I guess it IS an epitaph. Thanks for your comment, though.
I think he just made a reference to needing to write the epitaph for his sons grave. Although he did write a very good eulogy there. I think his son should go by "Flawless" Joe Hennig. Instead of Mcgillicuty. Kind of an insult to not use his name, all things considered.
@seikogoldwatch2009 You know, buddy, I usually delete comments with swear words. But since your comments actually do more harm to your own reputation than to those of other users or me, I let it stand here. It's your decision to embarass yourself by swearing in a discussion like this. Attacking someone who you don't know personally is bad enough, but this? I'm an asshole and a moron because I used a word that might be wrong? C'mon! Really man, your behaviour here is ridiculous.
Perfect should have been the WWF Champ. I always loved how he would laugh at the thought of being afraid of either Hogan or Warrior, yet those two were the ones who would stop him in his tracks.
I remember the one time he entered into a battle royal, and rather than fight people in the ring, he would just hang on the ropes on the outside avoiding punishment and conserving energy. I thought it was freaking GENIUS. The guy had the perfect strategy. Too bad he didn't have the perfect outcome. Man I loved Mr. Perfect. He was one of the best. I bet you right now he's probably drinking a cold one up in heaven with Ric Rude, arguing over who was the better champ.
Haha. Yeah, i try that every time i chew gum. Sometimes i miss, and end up looking stupid. But he never once even came close to missing. Bet he could do it blindfolded, whilst on his phone, sleepwalking. Perfectly.
one of Perfects best matches was for the intercontental tital against bret hart, I remember when I was a kid, I dont think there has been such a full on move for move techinical wrestling match since.
@RestinPeaceChris Restinpeacechris? No rest in peace his INNOCENT wife and son who were brutally and sadistaclly murdered by him. Chris benot is resting...but not in peace...in HELL..and rightfully so.
never really appreciated how good of a wrestler he was wehn i was young but now that im a bit older he was one of the greats,.. there will only ever be one mr. perfect
I did not like Mr. Perfect when I was a kid, but looking back as an adult I really enjoyed watching him. His gimmick was also entertaining. I feel the same way about The Million Dollar Man. The late-80s and early-90s was really a golden age in wrestling, and Mr. Perfect was part of it.
couldnt have said it better, like Hennig, owen hart was another deserving of the title, its such an injustice to see so many wresters easily achieving it now when these guys worked for years and yet didnt
I liked the West Texas Rednecks.I remember when Nitro was here in Memphis back in July of 1999,they were getting cheers while Master-P was getting booed out of the building.
I hate to say it, but he died from a cocaine overdose. His father said that the combination of steroids and painkillers had already weakened his heart before.
mmafan82, why? i am not saying he was not great...he was one of my favorites, as was benoit...but face facts, he died over a bag of coke...fact...it is what it is...no one has a problem saying how owen died...so why not be truthful...henning turned into a drug addict...sad but true.
I could have worded it different, but why? heres a prime example of a waste of a great man to the evils of drugs...and no-one held a gun to curts head and made him do it...its a fuckin shame. and for that i am dissapointed with his final decision in life.
I was not in the internet for a while, otherwise, I probably would have deleted your first comment due to the way you worded it. However, your explanation proves me that you were a fan too, and I understand your disappointment. The reason I don't like talking about drug-related deaths is simple: Non-wrestling fans don't know anything about the wrestlers, the only thing they'll notice is "Ha, another one who died from drugs!" I try to protect the wrestlers' reputation in a way. I do talk openly
about their deaths when talking to a wrestling fan, because he knows what other things they have accomplished and what great things they have done in the business. And he knows what they go through and why many of them just can't stand it any more and start taking drugs.
Somehow, it's like wrestling fans have developed a new form of kayfabe: Talk openly when you are among other fans, but try to protect the sport and the athletes from "the others". They don't respect them anyway, why worsen it?
its a shame guys like curt, rick rude, bulldog & owen hart aint around now in there prime they would be sure to become what they deserved then to be headliners week in week out and world champs
When I was a kid I never realised how talented guys like Mr. Perfect, and Ravishing Rick Rude were. I took it for granted, but at least I got see them in their prime, and for that I'll be forever grateful.
I'm used to be sneered at for being a wrestling fan, and over the years, you become thick-skinned if someone offends wrestling or the wrestlers. However, if anyone attacks a dead wrestler, I'll get angry. These guys have done so much for us, so I think it's our duty to defend them. Besides, it's tasteless to attack dead people.
I have already deleted a few comments who insulted Curt or the other wrestlers I made videos for, because in my opinion, these comments should not even be discussed.
The greatest Wrestler never to win a Major World Title. My favourite wrestler of all time and one of the greatest. R.I.P "Mr Perfect" Curt Hennig We will always remember you.
You know, I've been watching these tributes to Curt Hennig, Brian Pillman, Owen Hart, and others, and it just makes me appreciative of the fact that I got to grow up watching these performers. Because that's what they are; performers. And, Curt Hennig was one the best of all time. When you look at pro wrestling today, you see a complete lack of creativity in the storyline process. However, guys like Hennig, Pillman, Owen & others could make up for it with their ability and storytelling. RIP Curt
He was one of the most gifted man in SportsEntertaiment and never got a (real) chance to win the WWF title! He's got the AWA Title, but he is PERFECT! Hope he will be remembered as one of the greatest there ever have been!
I remember him and Bockwinkel going 60 minutes! That was a hell of a show! I always wondered why the WWF (at the time) never put the world title on him? Hogan was a huge draw at the time, yes, but there for a while,Curt was the top heat getter.
Thank you all for your comments. It is good to see that so many people don't forget the old heros and appreciate their skills.
A quote from Larry Hennig fits well to some of the comments here: "Curt had 100% ability, 100% body, 100% agility, 100% attitude, and 100% good guy. Unfortunately, only 50% attention of the wrestling promoters."
When I was a kid, honest to God, I worshipped Hennig. In fact, I loved him more as a bad guy. He truly was my favorite wrestler from that era, right up there with Rick Rude and Randy Savage. His death was tragic but I hope I get to live life just 1/100th as well as he lived his.
If you look at the era he was in there should have been a lot of champions that weren't, with Hennig and Rick Rude at the top of the list, two of the best workers ever, and they gave the belt to warrior, who didn't care one way or the other about learning the craft.
Imagine if Curt Hennig was the Intercontinental champion and feuded with Bret Hart while "The Hitman" was World champion. "Mr. Perfect" and Hart would've lit up rings all over the U.S. and the world with a rivalry like that.

Too bad Curt was also the Perfect Cocaine User!
And his buddy Scott Hall will soon join him in the grave due to his alcohol abuse.
...The last time I saw him, not long ago, I'll say it would be a miracle if Hall lives to see 2012 the way he's going. Such a mess!

I have already deleted a few comments who insulted Curt or the other wrestlers I made videos for, because in my opinion, these comments should not even be discussed.

how did he die?
CHEEZEBURNATHADON85 3 years ago
I hate to say it, but he died from a cocaine overdose. His heart had already been damaged by steroids; this may also have contributed to his death.

ZakkVixxen 3 years ago 2

His death was tragic but I hope I get to live life just 1/100th as well as he lived his.
mwh0420 3 years ago
If you look at the era he was in there should have been a lot of champions that weren't, with Hennig and Rick Rude at the top of the list, two of the best workers ever, and they gave the belt to warrior, who didn't care one way or the other about learning the craft.

Imagine if Curt Hennig was the Intercontinental champion and feuded with Bret Hart while "The Hitman" was World champion. "Mr. Perfect" and Hart would've lit up rings all over the U.S. and the world with a rivalry like that.
