I like Matt and Sora... I guess I'm a freak! I like the epilogue just for the ridiculous cheese of it all really, but it would have been better to leave it somewhat open ended methinks.

I think the epilogue was hated because it kinda robbed fans of making their own happy endings in their minds. Sure you can ignore it. A lot do (fanfiction lolz) But at the same time you can't. And it's the final nail in the coffin for these characters. They can never go back and revisit them and create another adventure. It's like they're dead or something.

The epilogue never bothered me at all as a kid and it still doesn't bother me as much as it does other fans.

Looking back at it now, the career choices for some of the characters, those you mention specifically, are awful. Matt's is the worst, an Astronautic career requires huge amounts of time, study, brains, training - all stuff that Matt's character is pretty against. He's always been the cool, alternative, anti-establishment one...

Sora's and Tai's are almost as bad, as you said.

@JesuOtaku From what I heard, at the very end the writers had a HUGE dispute with the executives over everything involving the show. What I've come to learn is that*, they wanted a sequel, so the writers, (who at this point had been overruled a ton), did all they could to prevent that.

*(This last sentence may not be true, but it is something I found one of the writers might [not sure if the interview is legit, 60% sure it is] have said)

I seriously did like this show when I was younger and still do with my roes tented glasses on...that being said I have a conniption every time I see it. So much so that in my moments nostalgia when I re-watch the series I skip this part and pretend it never happened and make up my own ending. Yeah it hacks me off that much. Then something happened...I realized the entire Matt/Sora thing and paid attention to it all the way through at the careers of the others. It began as bitter disappiontment and turned into RAGE! Such rage that seeing it caused a red ring to fall from the sky.

Well there is tension between sora and tai in the movie "our war game" so that might explain some of it.

meh. i was kinda ok with the epilouge. it showed just how much the characters changed as time went on. hell some of it was even forshadowed.

1:sora was becoming more girly so it made sense that she would become iintrested in faction.

2. her and matt getting together after the whole dark void thing in adventure makes sense,

3.ken wanting to make the world a better place by being a detective.

4. cody becoming a lawyer after realizing that people can change, ect

I remember seeing the epilogue for the first time, and just.. deciding that it didn't count. even as an 8 year old, i thought that it was pretty stupid for sora to become a fashion designer, Mimi to have a cooking show(!) and Tai to cut his hair. and Matt ... there was no way. but i was ok with the others, even though i was a little shipper and was so very sad when kari and tk didn't end up together I always figure Yolei had a career, she was just putting it on hold till the kids were older

It was never explicitly stated that TK and Kari ever got together, yes, but at the same time they never said that they "didn't" get together.

Another thing about the epilogue which makes me giggle is the concept of everyone in the world having digimon partner...not everyone in the world is very nice, nor would they conceivably be to their digimon...

In fact, seeing certain people use them for horrible things would make for an interest (if not overtly dark) season.

Why do people hate Matt and Sora so much, there are scenes in Adventure when Matt and Sora are together, and even one scene when they are holding hands, but while clear that Tai liked Sora in Adventure it is NEVER hinted that Sora like Tai which although sad is just the way things seemed to be, I mean you can tell she though of him as a dear friend but unfortunately not as a romantic interest and I think there is nothing wrong with that.

@RoyalKnightofDestiny I have to disagree with you. Like Jesu said, Tai/Sora were hinted about feelings for each other, while Matt/Sora didn't seem they related to each. In fact for every 1 Matt/Sora moment in season one, we had 3 Tai/Sora moments, and let's not forget in the movie where Sora hated Tai for giving hair clips as a present, not because it was a stupid gift but because she thought Tai didn't like her looks. Then in season two, out of nowhere the writers shoved Matt/Sora in our faces.

You know, I always liked to think that maybe there was more to TK and Kari...after all, I don't think it was ever made completely clear about that, and for all we know, she just showed up before him. Hooray ambiguity? I honestly don't know, as I don't remember if anything concrete was established about that.

The end of 02 sort of looks like season 5 where people on earth all know about digimon and the teacher in season 3 is what looks like Kari from the end of 02 looks the same sowns the same even the same job and name i think now i thought that was kind of neet like a wink to the end of 02.
