@stevbbfg part2- The sad fact is that Peter wasn't the first Pope - the early Cathiolic church leaders used that verse about the rock out of context. the original greek words for rock are interesting in that verse. Peter means 'small chip off the old block'...and 'upon this rock' refers to a huge continental sized rock(like a huge mountain). 2 different greek words translated to the same english word. Doesn't refer to popes though. Probably refers to spoken word of faith.

As I've said in a way, many Protestants are in error. I don't know them all. I was raised Pentecostal. I'm now just a Christian. Didn't like teaching tongues as the only sign of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. That's not what the Bible show us. I later looked at a site online an notice the word Prelate and associated it with the organization of the Roman Empire. Protestants need to get rid of that. We didn't kiss statues in idolatry. We didn't recognize the Sabbath as changed to Sunday though services were on Sunday. There's a difference. The bible does state that the antichrist will proclaim himself to be God, and be able to cleanse people of their sins, which is exactly what the pope says.
