I'm not quite sure why you are comparing cards of different classes... that's like apples and oranges isn't it? It would be nice to see different branded cards of the same class in a comparison test. Then we will know if we are getting value for money.
Hi! DJBFilmz, Class 6 means the minimum data transfer rate is 6MB/Sec, but faster Class6 SDHC is usually faster than 6 MB/S. >>Or will it make your video look crappy if you buy a class 6 rather than a class 10? If you are recording FullHD video with less compression, which means really huge file size per second, if you use slow cards, your recorded video might drop frames, which might make your video look bad.
How can this be accurate when the installation and removal of memory cards with the camera on can damage the read and write times of the cards? This is not recommended by either the card or camera manufacturers and will void the warranty.
Hello! I have a little problem, in my d80 i select the continous shooting mode, but the speed (supposed to be 3 shots per second) its not even close, i mean that it doesnt matter what shutter speed i select (from 125 to 4000) it takes the exact amount of time taking it! Im not sure if its the SDHC card, I have the Panasonic SDHC Class 4 4gb card! Can u please tell me what might be the problem? thanxs in advance, by the way, the time it processes this images is like 5 second so i was wandering...
AFAIK the TX can only read/write SD cards, so a SDHC card is no option for you.
Does the TX read/write SD cards formatted with the FAT32 file system?
If yes:
There are 4GB SD cards which, AFAIK, is out of the specification for SD cards, which sets 2GB as the maximum capacity, but there is no guaranty this will work in the TX. If you buy one of this, you should ask the seller to take back the card/give you a refund if it does not work.
This is not a valid performance test. The ATP Card wins because is an SDHC Class 6. This guy is using an ATP PRO MAX "CLASS 6" SDHC CARD with a minimum transfer rate of 6MBPS, the other cards are "CLASS 2" wich means that the minimum transfer rate is only 2MBPS. I have a Kingston SDHC 4GB Class 2 and it's a nice SDHC Card.
Hi Photograph....etc, If you are in the US you can buy or find kingston SD Cards at newegg dot com (very cheap prices and always on stock) Regards from Peru! Neto
So.. it means that this SDHC Test tries to say that SanDisk cards are better than the rest?

I don't understand. Are the difference in the classes just speed? Or will it make your video look crappy if you buy a class 6 rather than a class 10?

32 gb are waaaaaaaaaay to slow and expensive. much better off buying some 4gb sdhc, and just switching when u need to.
might be a little pricier, but alot quicker and if your recording HD you dont get a little thing saying ''recording stopped, memory card toooo slow''.
komodosh 1 year ago
@komodosh and then u get recording stopped,memory card full :P

@komodosh
how about a card with class10?
Ive got one with 32gb and 30mb/s i dont think it will be slow at all.. i hope. Just waiting for my camera now

Thanks a lot for the test and recording it. Much better to see it live than written on a piece of paper by some douche-bag.

how about the 32 gb cards? any test on those

In the absence of clear read/write speeds from manufacturers I think your simple but consistent test is excellent.
Thank you very much :)

What happens is that, your Long Exposure Noise Reduction is On. In order to achieve 3FPS . Switch that off.
Go under 'Shooting Menu' >> 'Long exp, NR' >> 'Off'
Enjoy!

omg! thank you very much! i was so worried!

Its a fucking shit! ATP CLASS 6: Class 6: >= 6MB/sec
SanDisk: CLASS 2, a guaranteed minimum data-transfer rate of 2MB/sec.
BULLSHIT THIS VIDEO!!!

I did the same test with de Sandisk Extreme III, 2Gb. I repeated it 3 times. The worst result was 06.54 seconds. So it's the best. ;)
noboruwataiya 3 years ago
yeah buddy, why would you even consider buying a regular card with an d80? Extreme III all the way!

Hello. I'm Ricardo & I was wondering, does SDHC cards work for PDA handhelds (Palm TX)? SD/MMC cards works. Thanks :) .
