  • No words..

  • yep...without his sound every band he left suffered

  • douche bag.

  • he was an awesome Riverdog.

  • If DIO ever gets inducted into RocknRoll HOF It would be badass to see Vivian,Craig,Roland, and Doug all on stage rockin out.

  • honestly im not much of a dio fan the only reason i ever listened to him was to hear vivian shred

  • If you guys like this, pick up the Riverdogs CD. The guitar work is pretty consistent with what he does here.

  • viv is a great player. i just cant stand def leppard.I heard he is in thin lizzy now. finnly gets to play rock again. instead of that girly pop stuff he has been playing with DL

  • @smithdsmit Vivian is with thin lizzy just for a while, he will come back to the studio with def leppard and work in a new album, just check the last album of DL and hear what he play is amazing

  • He is a fag , with out Dio he was nothing , he is a good guitar player i wish he would he would not have been a jerk and stayed with metal instead Def l....

  • @crowjs1 HA, Dio was nothing without Viv Campbell, except a scrawny little runt. Vivian Campbell is one of the best guitarists of all time.

  • wow vivan just cracked my top ten guitarist 4 sure

  • Is this the video where he kills the giant dragon at the end by shooting lasers out of a sword? Fucking AWESOME.

  • awesome song, this video is the only place i can find this song, taught myself how to play up to 2:22 so far on guitar

  • @randarand film it n show us :D

  • Long time since I heard that song .. I had it ages ago on tape... thanks for uploading it...

  • Vivian ,back to Dio and made some songs as great as rainbow in the dark

  • In this picture, he looks like Bruce Kulick from KISS.

  • Vivian you are the man....Great playing!!!!!!!

  • whooooooooooooo

    i think i just weat my panst.........that was .........

that was.........i just find the words

  • gos damn it vivian, come back to your metal roots. The music out to today nedds to hear the best guitarist in the world play.

  • Any idea when this song might have been recorded...?

  • Comment removed

  • 1989 at a guess -it was featured on the Guitar for the Practicing Musican vol.1 compilation of that same year - might have been 1988 but probably no earlier.

I had the CD and IIRC this track was recorded with a Kramer Nightswan and a Soldano SLO 100

(removed my other comment through spelling fail - sorry :) )

  • Ah, cheers!

  • Wow, a riff kown to me! Always a Mystery...

  • Vivian was way less cool after leaving Dio too, they both took a blow by dividing, but Dio has other projects to support also. I for one want to go to a Rainbow reunion concert, fuck the rest of you who thinks thats a bad idea.

  • lol, viv is and always will be one of the pioners of 80s metal, he was copied by so many in LA in 81 and 82, viv had the reputation as a great studio player he could quicklly give you what you ask for and make it sound brilliant, thats why he was introduced to dio, and dio knows he fucked him every chance he got, he knew he was hungry and would work for pennies on the dollar, ozzy knew the same thing, so he deserved the butt load of money def lep offered, viv is a ledgend!

  • @KSFALLGUY thank you !!!! Vivian is one of the best guitar players of the 80s and by far the best Irish guitar player eva

  • @KSFALLGUY yes vivian is amazing, now he gonna play with thin lizzy

  • LOL i luv how ppl say that viv is the mad one.... REALLY? that makes alot of sense.... id be piss 2 if i joined def leppard and made alot of money... ohh ya thats terrible... ROFL if any1 is mad its dio cuz aftr sacred heart his music went down the shitter...

  • After Sacred Heart his music went down the shitter???

The Killing the Dragon album is one of Dio's best.

    Doug Aldridge > Vivian Campbell

  • Vivian's departure=Dio's end! End of story.

  • wow this is fucking unreal.i first got into guitar after watching dio special at the spectrum cause viv blew me away now i find when ppl ask me who i look up to guitar wise there is this big irish influence with viv, gary moore, thin lizzy (the band is classed as irish so good enuff).

i was super drunk when i typed this if i forgot any 1 or thing well to fkn bad ;p

    viv kiks arse nuff said

  • Where can I download this song

  • At one point about a year ago my friends dad let me barrow a les paul exactly like that, and that was the only guitar that i played for about 3 months until i had to give it back so he could use it a sturgis bike rally.

  • rockofages78, Hey, you. If you dislike Viv I think that you don't understand real music. You are just a sucker and fucking asshole. And Dio spined you on his cock!

  • Where would Ronnie be without Vivian? We all know that Viv was the biggest part of that midgets success. When he left so did Ronnie's success. Jealousy is a son of a bitch I guess.

  • Agreed

  • I love Viv's playing with Dio and The River Dogs. I can't stand the garbage he's playing with Def Lep. The sad part is that Viv is always slamming Ronnie and most of Viv's fans come from the 80's when he still played rock.

  • stfu, ronnie is no midget, let his voice do the talking, not his body

  • Apparently you have Ronnie's disease as well. Another fucking midget who likes to run his mouth. It would be fine if all he did was sing but unfortunately he likes to talk shit as well. The funny thing is that he talks down about Vivian yet if it wasn't for him Dio would be shit. Dio's best records were with Viv as the guitarist.

TRambo. Doug Aldridge is mediocre compared to Vivian. Just look at the body of work.

  • Let his music do the talking, he says pathetic things about Vivian in interviews. But i like his music, and i'm also a big fan of Vivian and his playing in Def Leppard.

  • @Jacksonpc1 totally agree with you

  • right on dude

  • ur stupid if it wasnt for him, there wouldnt b the best solo in the world. rainbow in the dark.

  • I'll agree with the Rainbow in the Dark comment. IMOP the best hard rock solo of all time or at least in the top 10. Also Don't Talk to Strangers. The sad part is that it's 20 years later and Viv's still pissed. If it was'nt for Ronnie.... hell he gave him his 1st big break.

  • thank you for posting this video man !! i would as well like to play this song with the rest of my band ......... but Hell!! this is the first time i have trouble to find a tab !! please if u find any just send it to me OK !! cheers

  • thank you for posting this video man !! i would as well like to play this song with the rest of my band ......... but Hell!! this is the first time i have trouble to find a tab !! please if u find any just send it to me OK !! cheers

  • You can find this tune on a compilation put out by Guitar for the Practicing Musician.

  • Sounds like Hungry for Heaven

  • where can i find this song on mp3 ? i cant find it , can someone upload it please?

  • yeah if some one could do that it would be great!!!!!!!!!

  • Viv will always get "Best Use of Tremelo Picking" in my realm of influences book. I used to listen to this and Vinnie's "Free" from that tape (yeah, TAPE back then) over and over

  • shenker is a bum!

  • lol, I like his brother's playing better :P

  • HOW ABOUT SOME VIDEO

  • Another great player who was mainly influenced by Michael Schenker the German guitar god.

  • Hmm, I disagree here. He might have been influenced by Schenker too, a lot mayhaps, but Gary Moore must have had big influence on him. And is it just me, but do you guys hear some Rory Gallagher too? Would make sense, Rory was Irish as well.

Some people claim that Rany Rhoads was the main influence of Vivian, but I don't know about that really.

  • He's always said that Rory was a huge influence, and also Gary Moore. I've not heard him say Randy Rhodes.

  • I've read a 60 minutes in GW with Viv. He listed Rory as no.1. He's also a fan of Schenker, Moore, EVH and the Thin Lizzy guitarists.

  • randy rhoads was ofcourse an influence, so was eddie van halen. and toni iommi, jimi hendrix

  • Very tasty!

  • what album is this off of?

  • <Guitar's Practicing Musicians vol.1>
