  • Learn this or die: When you are in the evil heart of your addiction, it seems like you can't concentrate creatively on your art. That's a chemical lie of the poison-substance you're taking. It has alienated you from your love, your art. The only way to beat this lie is to lay your art down, go into continual treatment WHILE discontinuing use. This you make a permanence. As you learn about the nature of addiction, you'll relearn true love, hate, and slowly pick your art up along the way.

  • @Ariel62073 Learn this or die: stfu

  • @Fryan3 Please forgive a Cuban.

"Learn this or not learning this will lead to your death."

I hope that is clearer a statement.

  • @Ariel62073 you are forgiven. but know that nobody has the answer, because one answer does not work for everyone.

  • @Ariel62073 Obviously your addiction got the best of you and then you treated it. This is a place for people wanting to watch great videos. Some of those videos/and music were created from addictions we do not understand clearly. Your statement is a superlative and unwise. People who want treatment get it, the others don't. It is not your job to judge people or save them. It is also not your place to judge art. Learn this or die: You are still an addict; with a different vice. Good luck.

  • @okdenny well said hombre

  • MMMMMM... Tenor.... Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

  • 0:38 is the best part

  • 0:52 cool watch bro.

So many great musicians there! I can't name all of them, but every single man is a star!

The steel drummer (don't know his name), Bob Mintzer on tenor sax, Toots Thielemans on harmonica (not in this song) Randy Brecker on trumpet.... and all the others! What a bunch of great cats!!!

  • lol, the steel drummer is the best :DD

  • Yes, I get it now. My first impression was to laugh! I play now many years and so I am suspicious! Much of this you tube stuff is just for children to argue! Thanks!

  • Ha! at 1:18 Jaco takes his left hand off the bass to adjust something but the groove never stops! The audio and video are from different sources, cause Jaco could certainly play!

  • @7mmike7 He is playing. If you listen carefully he only plays two notes which are open string notes only played with his right hand and then, as soon as he uses again his left hand, the groove continues normally. Regards.

  • I AM SO PUMPED!! im doing this song in my schools jazz band

  • the calculator watch in action!

  • 5:47 -> jamie foxx on steel drum!?

  • People thought it was a "dis- i- like" button

  • @thesocietysuicide so did 80 other people

  • whos the drummer?

  • @ethanbass12 Probably for alcohol or drugs.

  • i wish i could see the people who dislike awesome videos in real life...they must be real sad..

  • The Tenor Saxophonist is such a perfect technican... i wanna play like him... I play Sax too =)

  • Love the calculator watch at :54. What, is he doing his taxes in between solos or something?

  • French boner...

  • french horns?!

  • @thechuckwillkill

Bob Mintzer. Got to do a clinic and jam session with him back in 1997. Awesome guy and amazing player. Check out the Yellowjackets, that is his normal outfit.

  • I still cant get enough of this!!!! THis is Genius!!!! Jaco was touched and he still captivates and will continue to. Somebody make his bust like Mozart so I can go buy one and put it on my desk. Just as good riding in the back than being in front.

  • @thechuckwillkill Joshua Redman :). Yeah fucking awesome, saw him live last year :)

  • @SantoRedentor it's NOT joshua redman....

  • I love this! I always come back to this clip every couple of months

  • amazing song the best.

  • Putain de son ce Bob Mintzer au Sax et quel groove....!

  • Peter Erskine on drums right?

  • これは私が見たLive映像です!Jacoは今でもグルーブがカッコイイ!再認識しました。

  • Simply wonderful...

  • Notice how the best musician, has the least solo? Gawd, steel drum dummy was making my fillings hurt!

  • jaco is the man

    what a true legend

  • I love how the calypso guy just keeps going and you can see how much the others are trying to end his solo - Big up to everyone playing this concert.

  • THE GENIUS OF THE BASS

  • can anyone by any chance tell me what the bass at bout 0:52 is cuz i wana try and learn it

  • @killaXbass i assume that you can figure out if i give you the notes: Bb D Eb E F Bb (octave higher)

and then at 1:26 it is a decending penatonic

  • I wonder how many bands this big and (anywhere nearly) this good are working in 2011... probably few or none.

  • may weather said this will be his background music during his entrance againts manny.. i think if that happens this will be the most appreciated decision of floyd... the chicken though it sounds good of course

  • such a great song plus Jaco which makes everything better

  • hipster: I used to like this tune until it got a million views

  • @addyr100, it has a million views because it deserves a million views, I am all for another million. Do you eat food douche lord, well over a million people eat, are you not going to eat now?

  • @calowe1980 Don't feed the hipster, food is to mainstream for him.

  • @bl4ckl34d3r Ironically, the term 'hipster' was coined by jazz and bebop musicians to describe people who truly dug jazz.

  • @laxdude1995 ah didn't know that, that's pretty sweet.

  • @calowe1980 obviously you dont understand sarcasm and that was a really clever comment, douche lord. wow

  • @addyr100 sick burn

  • @addyr100 I thought it was funny, personally. I commend you.

  • It is Bob Minzer!!!

  • An interviewer once asked Jaco: "Where do you see the futere of mucis going?"

Jaco then anwered: "Well tomorrow i'm playing in Miami!"

  • I've been racking my brain for the steel drum players name. It's Othello and he's from South Florida.

  • @JohnArcher30DC Othello Molineaux :o)

  • @JohnArcher30DC Othello Molineaux.

  • Does anyone know what that hat Jaco is wearing is called?

  • @readme60 Fucking awesome?

  • Best steel drum solo ever.

  • I wish Jaco had matured as an artist and worked with Quincy and Stevie Ray V.

  • @dojufitz Matured as an artist? LMAO You're kidding, right?

  • @mcoope15 i didn't mean he wasn't a great mature original artist...it was just a shame he reached this amazing level and soon went downhill. His work with Joni was great - just a shame he didn't get the chance to keep going on to work with other top artists in the studio....he had alot to give.

  • the ultimate bass show off piece for a band <3

  • kfc bath. so? the chicken is worse

  • Playing this in my jazz band, and I play bass!! :D :D

  • wow million views? niceee

    rise up jazz!

  • @qweasd1993 Jazz cant rise cuz isnt dead.

  • Yep, Pee Wee Ellis....a sax player I play with is good friends with him. He is a cool guy!

  • I paid a fortune for the Invitation LP on import in 1983 in Scotland and played it over and over and over. I never saw video of this band until now. Thanks for uploading.

  • every time i watch this i click the like buttom again.. i know it doesnt change the number of likes, but i just have to do it again!

  • did jaco write the chicken?

  • @ericoschmitt who did?

  • @slappingpopping cant remember, sorry. google can help you out! i only remember it wasnt jaco. he made the arrangement for big band, and that bass line is his job too

  • @ericoschmitt It was Alfred James Ellis I think

  • @pebblefrog196 yes! thanks

  • That lick at 3:31 is killing it. Oh, man. Bob Mintzer is a monster.

    ...Maybe he is a llama.

  • hey what the name of musical instrument that look like a bowl

  • @chappedips steel drums, steel pans, maybe marimba too, im not sure

  • Hey Rocketfire81...It was 19fn82...everyone had a calculator watch. Smarten up, loser

  • この曲は好きだ ジャコパスをこの曲で知った 先輩がコピーしてたから… その先輩チョッパーにはまって結構うまかった… しかしジャコパスは It's cool

  • what's up with 1:17 ? Jaco takes his hands off of the bass but the sounds continues.

  • @leokasper7107 He's playing open strings. So he dosen't need to keep his hand on the bass.

  • @21saxplayer21 I'm not so sure about that... I mean, I play bass and I've played this song more than a few times (even the exact same licks that jack used) and open strings don't match up with the rhythm, let alone the notes being played. And also, keeping in mind that Jaco was a professional musician, but I've never heard anyone who was able to mute an open string to skip to the next open string using only the right hand.

  • @leokasper7107 I think you're right. That's kinda weird xD ..

  • @leokasper7107 what do you mean doesn't match up with the rhythm? besides you can hear open strings, it's the same notes and he's probably muting with his thumb on right hand as he moves the hand to reach a higher string.

  • How can you dislike this when it has a fckin STEEL DRUM SOLO

  • This tune was a staple for both Maceo and Jaco but who was the original composer of this tune? Does anybody know?

  • @tonespinner Alfred James

  • @chaumilo i dont speak spanisch so i dont really understand what your saying. but if you are saying that steelpans are percussive you are right. =)

  • essa musica é supeeer 10

  • Yeah but calculator watches were hip in 82,remember those ridiculous gold razor blades hanging from a chain around your neck.

  • @BolognaPony442 it's not mean.. just funny! and BTW i think you're right! ha ha!
