Ha! at 1:18 Jaco takes his left hand off the bass to adjust something but the groove never stops! The audio and video are from different sources, cause Jaco could certainly play!

I mean, I play bass and I've played this song more than a few times (even the exact same licks that jack used) and open strings don't match up with the rhythm, let alone the notes being played. And also, keeping in mind that Jaco was a professional musician, but I've never heard anyone who was able to mute an open string to skip to the next open string using only the right hand.
